Does Caicedo smack of desperation?

So the latest rumour is linking us with a season long loan for Man City's Ecuador flop, Caicedo. I can see the sense of bringing in another forward but is this a case of signing somebody just because he is available for nothing?

Like Cole and Piquionne, Caicedo seems to suffer from a rather debilitating problem for a forward, he doesn't score goals! 27 appearances for Unreal City have yielded just 4 goals, whilst 20 appearances on loan at Sporting and Malaga saw him add only 4 more to his meagre total of career goals - which stands to date at just 21 club goals and 3 international goals from 20 caps.

Then there is the added problem that he is yet another foreign player and that our squad roster is already full. True Kovac is on his way but we are now on the absolute limit. You also have to wonder what we are planning to do with McCarthy. Boil him down for a vat of glue perhaps?

This deal doesn't set my pulses racing. Caicedo is a wonder kid, you wonder why Unreal City spent £5 million on him!

  1. de Hammer is injured! For a man who is renowned for his fitness it could only happen at West Ham!

  2. NO HF it smacks of a possible bargain for a skint club.

  4. We have signed quite a few who are off their game at the moment. Is Grant the kind who can get these supposed hotshots back on form, The club seems to think so.

I suggest your stats could be misleading in that he may not have started all those games so the goal return is not quite as terrible as you make out. In fact I would practically garauntee this because things are never ever as bad as you make out.

It's fair to say if you don't rate him he's probably a good player considering the amount of nonsense you real off on here.

  7. Of coarse we are paying his wages (or at least a proportion), that is generally how a loan deal works. Man City wouldn't send him to us for free however rich they are.

  8. HF, I am not convinced ... why do we need another journey man who has not produced for Citeh or anyone else ... We have Benny MacDonalds, Piquionne that are no better. We need the promised marqee signing that will bring the fans back through the turnstiles .. Bellamy is sat doing nothing after being left out of Citeh's Europa league squad so why aren't we chasing him, there is Noulble and Hines in the wings that for me are both better than caicedo and his wages... I have been happy with what we brought in so far even though Sulijmani flopped at Ajax he does look tidy and fits the bill that should see the exit of Diamante ... we also need to resolve the Parker and Upson issues ... one needs to be sold before he walks off for free and the other needs sign his contract extension ... we are heading in the right direction but right now the two Daves are scrapping the barrel when they don't need to ... they should stick to slagging Moyes off at Dog toffee
