Spurs Bid For Olympic Stadium

Et tu Tottenham? Typical! Bloody shiesters!

Hopefully it is just a gun to hold to the local council's head to force them into caving in to Tottenham's ground expansion application but who knows? Perhaps, with the recession biting, Tottenham fancy saving money. Renting a fully built, fully equipped stadium may seem like a better option than building a new one. Then they can keep all that lovely Champions League money in a nice big vault and look at it every day!

Of course, it might be a way of squeezing a rival out of business too. Move into their territory, reduce prices, steal the natural West Ham fan base...

I can't wait for Sullivan's rant! And after Noble and Parker dressed up in suits to submit our application yesterday!

  1. This move would not save Spurs any money, it could even be more expensive. They are not building a new stadium they are extending the capacity of WHL which will come at a cost. However, so will the Olympic Stadium. If a football club moves in then it will cost over £100m to convert the Athletics Stadium into a Football Stadium, so I can't imagine the cost is going to be a big different.

It must purely be as a back-up plan and, as you say, to encourage the local authorities to grant planning permission.

  2. West Ham plan to turn the Olympic Stadium into a 60,000-seater venue if they move into it after the Games. Fact one: West Ham have failed to sell out a game at the 35,000-capacity Upton Park this season. Fact two: two of those games were against Chelsea and Tottenham.

  3. I wonder how Brady's feeling? Big mouthed bimbo. It's funny how she's always talking about what she knows about the chairmen of other clubs in her column. I wonder if she saw this coming. Half her bids's probably been stolen by now without her knowing!

  4. I heard on the radio this morning that they had their expansion application accepted yesterday, making this move even more strange. I would suggest that they are using the Olympic as a Plan B
