Breaking the final Icelandic connection.

Well not quite, there's the little matter of Straumur still owning 50% of the club or thereabouts, and a store of frozen piss in the dressing room, in the form of Dyer, Upson, Boa, Behrami, Faubert, Ilunga and Kovac, but the last of the Icelandic speakers still hanging around the Boleyn looks as if he is about to be shipped out.

When he arrived, Holmar Orn Eyjolfsson was heralded as a star of the future and cited as "proof" that West Ham were now competing to sign the best young talent from around the world. Today, the best young kid from Iceland, tomorrow a nascent superstar from Brazil perhaps. Well a "brilliant" Ugandan German from Italy at any rate! And a superstar Swiss left back from Italy too! Both courtesy of that great talent spotter Nani, funded by Icelandic fools' gold!

Well, as with the rest of the Icelandic package, the signing of Eyjolfsson has turned out to be less than successful. The kid has never kicked a ball for the first team in a competitive game and now, having ticked past 20, looks like being moved on to Wolfsburg in Germany, managed by the mighty McClanger.

Tottenham bought a young Welsh kid from Southampton called Bale. Arsenal bought a young English kid from Southampton called Walcott and a young Welsh kid from Cardiff called Ramsey. We bought Savio, Daprela and Eyjolfsson. Kind of says it all really, doesn't it?

  1. A bit harsh, but there is something in that!
However, Bale, Walcott and Ramsey cost over £20mil.
Daprella, Savio & the Icelander cost....? £5mil...?

The old addage about paying peanuts, getting monkeys..... How much do you reckon Gareth Bale makes?

  6. 0946, which Judas are you talking about exactly? Wright-Phillips injured Ashton and he plays for Man City who aren't in the Champions League. I'm confused!
