Parker to blame for Stoke's winner

Danny Higginbotham scores against West Ham in FA Cup quarter-final
There's a lot of talk about how West Ham players were pulled out of the wall for the Stoke winner, but the photographic evidence above challenges that assertion. Where is Huth, the accused man? Is he invisible? Did Shawcross cover ground at the rate of Usain Bolt, dragging the reluctant dead weight of Parker behind him into the bargain?

It looks as if Hitzlsperger and Parker are taking evasive action to me! And you can see the ball deflecting off Parker's foot, which is why Green was unable to save it. Look at Green's position. The ball is clearly heading straight down his throat until it flicks off Man of the Match Scotty Parker. I said in my match report that the Man of the Match award should have gone to either Green or Sorensen; I'm even more convinced of it now!

  1. Parker was responsible for the hole in the wall. But, it was never a free-kick.

  2. Look a few frames before that photo, Hitz has an arm wrapped round his stomach pulling him behind the wall. You can't judge using one still image.

  4. actually, i guess we can "blame" both parker and huth.
    it deflected off parker's foot, but you could also see huth clearly pull hitz away.

    take a look at the last video, and you will see in the replay how huth pulls him away, which in my opinion is a clear foul..

    The video tells all. Huth clearly floors Hitz.

  6. Bit puzzled by this post, did you not watch the game? Hitz was pulled and clearly could've blocked the shot. A photo wont always tell the full story.

  8. Yep, you are right! Huth does pull Hitz out of the way, but the ball doesn't go there as the frame above shows, it goes where Parker should be. But having seen it, why the Hell didn't Hitz complain? This is out and out cheating and Huth should be brought to book for it!

  9. Where the Hell is Huth is that picture! Hitz is still on the move! Has Pulis paid to have him airbrushed out?

  10. As long as this result means the team focus on what is really important, staying in the premier league, I am happy to be out of the cup. I prefer a long term position of the Hammers being a Premier League club than winning a cup that is depreciating every year.

  11. Flippin eck, HF - you really do enjoy having a pop at Parker, don't you. Still, I see that now that you have viewed the video, we are getting the closest thing I've ever seen to you conceding that you may have stuck the boot in to SP a tad early on this occasion, since Hitz is clearly man-handled by Huth.
    That said, my first impression was that Parker had lost it and then broken away from the wall, causing the hole.

  12. LOL Home early today Headmaster! Did you close the school because of snow in Scotland? ; }

  13. 6.20 is about par, HF - unless there's a Governors meeting, a parents evening, some school play or whatever, or indeed I'm away on a residential school journey. It's only a 10 minute commute for me which is defo on the plus side (along with 8.50-3.15 opening hours and 48 weeks off a year of course!).
    Is it snowing in Jocko land? Blimey, if I'd known we most definitely would have been closed.

  15. Your an idiot with a poor knowledge of football. It's a still image! What's you're point? Are you trying to start a "sack Parker campaign'? Are you in your real life a Mail journo? Most of your posts have there level of research and intellegence.

  16. No "you're" an idiot. Anybody who doesn't know the difference between your and you're must be pretty stupid!

    Having viewed the conclusive KUMB video I suggest the following;

    Given that Hitz nearly gets a leg to the ball despite being dragged backwards by the animal Huth I think you can draw a conclusion that Huth (i.e. 1 man) is at least partly responsible for The Hammers demise via an illegal act not spotted by the FA official

    Leaping forward with that conclusion does it not ring of a certain Mr Tevez being held singularly responsible for the Sheffield relegation. Allegedly an illegal act not spotted by an FA official punished later with our huge fine and later payment to the scum.

    So now jump forward again HF and start a lobby for Karen to sue Stoke for the loss of this years FA cup semi final and final receipts along with an obvious run all the way through to the Europa final, at least £15m don't you think?

    Long shot I know, but worth a try!!

  18. Great blog mate, I enjoy reading it.
    Had to comment though, I don't agree with you blaming Scott Parker, that man has been immense this season and just imagine if we didn't have him...
