Grant Declares No Change
So we field the same team that played against Tottenham. I'm disappointed that Tomkins hasn't replaced da Costa but hopefully Rooney and co will be as profligate in the six yard box as Defoe was.
Interestingly, Ferguson is going into the game with only Rooney up top, looking to win the game in midfield. And it is an odd looking midfield with Nani, Fletcher and Scholes not featuring. Carrick and Gibson are good players but...well let's just say that Scholes, Fletcher and Nani are better. Bloody Owen is on the subs bench along with Berbatov and Hernandez! We could do with Vidic pulling up lame after 5 minutes!
The tension mounts. Excuse me Ironside but I'm claiming your sign off.
Come On You Irons!

Grant was totally out-foxed by Fergie despite the fact that he was not even coaching his team!
What did Grant expect to happen in the second half? I mean really! Ferguson took a chance that West Ham will sit back and try to defend the lead and he threw all his attacking aces in the game. That wouldn't have worked if Grant was a good manager and told his team to press to get the third goal.
We gave the field to United for 45 minutes! Our midfield was weak to non-existent and droping back all the time allowing MU repeated possessions and renewed attacks. Just the recepy for conceding a two goal lead against MU.
In the interview after the match Rooney and Giggs said that they knew that a third goal by West Ham would put the match beyond them. We did not even get a chance to score in the second half however because the "grant" manager we have asked the team to sit back and defend the lead against MU!
I think that this should answer any questions you may raise HF about how good a manager the Israeli is. I think Zola would probably have won this game in the second half.
Final point. We saw the good and the bad from Noble again today. His defending is tentative and the guy although has some charisma going forward he is a liability in his defensive duties.
Now we are really up against it staying up!
What an absolute shambles. The Gods smile on us, give us two goals in the first 15 minutes and we manage to lose 4 - 2 They closed us down immediately we got the ball. We backed off leaving their players unmarked for the whole game and let them take pot shots at our goal for 90 minutes. Did we want to win? If we did, why defend for 90 minutes allowing their full strength attackers to enjoy themselves. Why didn't we attack for 90 minutes and put their obviously shaky defence under constant pressure thus nullifying their attack.
Our attitude was supposed to be that of playing in a cup final. It looked more like a stroll in the park half the time. Where was our midfield? Where was grit and determination. We could see the goals coming, why couldn't Grant? Sitting there on the bench looking morose doesn't invigorate the players he should have been up jumping about trying to instil some energy into the midfield. He more or less talked the player's out of their winning momentum. The trouble is he doesn't know when to open and shut his mouth.
