It's Dowie!

Oh dear God, I wrote this last week:

"So, no foreigners then and, to avoid a repeat mistake, we had better not recruit a Catholic or a Jew. So, we are after a Protestant Brit who understands West Ham's culture. There's only one man for the job then. He's available and, crucially, he is cheap and needs a job and even Sullivan will look handsome standing alongside him. Put your money on Dowie everybody!"

But it was a joke! Honest, it was a joke! But now Dowie has thrown his hat into the ring, declaring he wants the job and, given he fits Sullivan's Person Spec so perfectly, I reckon he may just be appointed! Let's face it, Ancelotti and Keen apart, nobody else has said they fancy the post, and the Italian's comments were surely only designed to raise eyebrows higher than his own!

Dear God, if appointed, it would be the only time in his lifetime when somebody could say of Dowie, "His face fits"!

  1. Not even in jest, HF. Not even in jest...

  2. It's all your doing then! Dowie read your article and thought to himself "if football guru HF thinks I am fit for the job then I am". And then he applies for the job. Thanks a lot HF. That's another fine mess you got us into!

Really though, I don't think Dowie is anywhere near as bad as some of the other managers we had in recent years.

  3. Oops, Sullivan and Gold have accepted that as a reference!

  4. I still think it'll be Big Pam. He'll clinch it in the interview ....that's if they do some this time around.

  5. As soon as he asks about available transfer funds, he will be shown the door. Anyway, he has his own dodgy agent so SuGo's poodle would object and threaten to blow the gaff on the last three windows!

  6. Surely Gold and Sullivan won't be using these same agents now? After all that has gone on?

Pam's always been willing to work low budget though HF.

The way I see it, we're a very attractive proposition still. We're still a big club right? Now, there are only so many jobs in the Premier League, so any intelligent manager would have a look at us and think here's a chance to not only get in the Premier League within a year, but then stay there with a big club. I think Big Pam would think this way.

It's why I was astonished McClaren said no...astonished and relieved.

  9. Sorry, a little off topic here but just noticed that Blackpool have released Harewood. I think I'm probably in the minority here but I thought Marlon played well at West Ham and would happily have him back- especially if Ba/Cole (probably both) are going to leave.

  10. Can you explain why the counters are eight thousand six hundred and thirty three clicks apart? which is rather a large inaccuracy and certainly more than when you started? I'm not sure how you can expect us to buy in to this?

  11. Not a chance, HF. They know they need a manager that will excite us. Dowie aint it.

  12. we all know gold and sullivan wont wanna pay compensation to another club for a decent manager so maybe it aint so daft as dowie would be free esp with hfs reference the east london advertiser are claiming a manager will be named in the morning

  13. Why are you so worried 1916? It is easily explained. The top counter is set for all hits, the bottom counter only records your intial visit. So, to explain, if you visit and read one thread, both counters will increase by one. If you then leave a comment, the top counter will record another hit, whilst the bottom counter will not. If you click on another thread during the same visit, the top counter will go up by another one, whereas the bottom counter won't. Understand?

Well, that's how I understand it anyway. But what's your problem, why do you care? And why do you keep visiting and moving up the hit count if you hate the site so much? Do you live your life banging your head on brick walls perhaps?

  14. 19:16 I don't know what "industry" HF works in, but a tolerance of plus / minus 0.87% just wouldn't be on in mine.

I guess if you work as refuse engineer it doesn't really matter quite so much.

  15. 20:40 any chance you could focus on the bloody football questions and not your sodding counters? some of us believe it or NOT really aren't at all interested and are more concerned that the donkey might be amongst us again.

  17. It's not that HF, it's just that Turds loves it when you're wrong.

  20. It was just to stop you begging for one....and I can't believe you actually believed that was me.

Anyhoo, apparently odds on Forest's Billy Davis have been slashed significantly. (No, I didn't just come out of the bookies)
