West Ham v Blackburn. The Biggest Game Ever!

I know that is a bold statement, especially after the Great Escape season, but every other game, including those epic Great Escape matches, is in the past and, if we don't win today, there is no foreseeable future.

It really does come down to today. If we win, survival becomes a live possibility. If we don't, we are as dead as a fish on a plate in a restaurant.

Go back to the Great Escape season and this is the equivalent of the Bolton game. We had to win it and early goals put us in good heart. That season, Allardyce had just left Bolton - replaced by Mini Me Sammy Lee - and this season, Big Sam has been shown the door by Blackburn. Maybe that's a sign! Maybe!

I am worried though. I am worried about Blackburn corners and a big bugger named Samba. The clever money would be on him to score if he plays, wouldn't it?

So I suspect we will need to score at least twice to win. Cole will probably play in order to help us defend corners. To score twice, Ba simply has to play down the middle with him. If he doesn't, who else will score?

Will Grant risk the mercurial Obinna? If your life depended on somebody, would Victor be your chosen man? He may have a heroic first name but he has an addled brain!

Will Parker be risked? If he can walk, he must play, irrespective of Redknapp's instructions!

Can we win? Of course. Must we win? Absolutely; even a draw puts us down. Will we win? My heart says yes but my stomach is in revolt. And I must sign off now, because the fish I ate last night appears to be disagreeing with me!

  1. About 4 months ago you said "we are definitely down" so why are you feeding us this aspirational rubbish about staying up. You are fickle and nonsensical. Please please please please please PLEASE stop writing this awful blog. I'll pay you. I'll set up a standing order to your account just to rid the world of this drivel.

  3. We'll be rooting on the Irons in Chicago, but so many MUST WINS over the last month have been NO WINS. Then again, we've played sides of such higher quality than Blackburn. If the Blackburn and Wigan matches had been three or four weeks ago, we might be in safety today. But you play the hand your dealt. Let's hope they come to play today.

  4. Keep it up HF - all the anonymous hater/posters only ever say you write 'drivel' or similar 'criticism'. I notice they never say anything that could be called constructive. While I don't always agree with you, it's your blog, you can say what you like on it.

All I hope is that the Porno guys decide to retire, sell up, take their profit, and take Brady with them. They are a disaster from business point of view, really bad buying, OS 'loan' etc, and spare me the oft-repeated line 'they saved us from bankruptcy'. If they hadn't bought WHU, someone else would have for sure. Lets hope we dont spend 15 years out of Premier league like QPR did....

  5. Well the players did not think it was an important game, just strolling around the pitch, they only woke up with 10 minutes left.
Grant claims we don't deserve to go down!! What codswallop, all the players, without exception, the manager and the owners fully deserve to be relegated for this farce of a season.
