Never mind Bolton, Leeds are our real bogey team!

One is tempted to bill today's game with Leeds as a clash of the Championship Titans but from the perspective of the Yorkshire club, it is more of a whipping boy contest. When Leeds come to town, West Ham players drop their shorts and bend over!

Get a load of these frightening stats!

We haven't won any of the last SEVEN encounters.

We have only won ONE of the last TWELVE.

We have only won THREE in the last TWENTY SIX games between the clubs!

The glory days of the Revie era are a dim and distant memory but for West Ham, Leeds remain the ultimate Bastard United. I would love it, really love it, if we were to beat the team I loathe above all others but history tells us that the clever money will be on Leeds to leave Upton Park with one point at the very least.

Let's hope Sam Pot has dispensed with history and declared Year Zero!

  1. I think I can remember Ian pearce getting a hat-trick against them once. Maybe that's the secret. Chuck faye up front.

  4. Well Paul, we could start with Bremner, then Giles, then Hunter (who was preferred to Moore for that crucial World Cup qualifier against Poland), then Alan Clarke, then Madeley, then Yorath, then Jackie Charlton, and Revie of course, and the way Clough was treated...no denying that you had a great team but everybody hated you. I grew up in that era and a deep seated dislike set in. That said, I was cheering you on in the third division, I didn't want such a great club to fall that far. I'm sure you have a team you love to hate - Man Utd perhaps?. For me, it is Leeds above all others. And our record against you doesn't help!

  5. LOL Deane. For me, it was 1972. Two goals ahead courtesy of Bonds and Hurst and I was about to see West Ham triuph over that great Leeds team. Then Eddie Gray came on as a sub with 15 minutes to go and scored twice in the last 10 minutes. 2-2 and a great afternoon ruined!

  6. Guess you are still not feeling the love towards the mighty whites after today. Still I think we deserved at least a draw. Sams post match comments were a right laugh, didn't seem to realise you had been played off the pitch. Tez

  8. Hammersfan, thanks so much for that wonderful accolade. May I say in return we don't give a monkey's about you. The classy opening picture says it all. Good luck with the GSCE's next year.

  9. West ham should be used to having their arses smacked - they were smacked enough last season.
Re the 'we hate Leeds' thing, that is so boring now - we've been 'hammered' by points deductions that have seen us sink to our lowest point ever, and we've still come back to show you how to play.
You were lucky today - we could / should have had all three points.
