4-4-2 Sam Going For It!

So it seems as if a dual strategy is emerging: 4-5-1 away from home seeking 1-0 victories, and 4-4-2 at home, looking to force the opposition onto the back foot. The team today reads:

Green

O'Brien, Faye, Reid, McCartney

Faubert, Noble, Nolan, Collison

Baldock, Carew

So, Diop is not used to hold which suggests that job falls to Noble. Let's hope he shows the necessary concentration and positional discipline because with King, Vassell, Nugent and Beckford in the team, this Leicester side have goals in them! I have a hunch we will need to score three to win!

  1. Happy for Julian. Great attitude.

  2. Well even Faubert is having a good game with a goal and an assist. Hopefully this cements the 4-4-2 formation, at least for home games.

  4. Except it was 4-5-1 at home too before the Blackpool game! By the way, I think I called today's game pretty well don't you? I quote, "I have a hunch we will need to score three to win!"

  9. going into the run of 4 games....blackpool, southampton, brighton and leicester....i must say its the hardest part of our fixture list this season and i was interested to see how we performed...

    4 hard games, 3 wins

Say what you want about whether we dominate the opposition or play "the west ham way"...thats a very good result that puts us right on target for automatic promotion.

We MUST now push forward, games against Bristol city and hull next up...convert them into 6 points and we will start to open a gap from the chasing pack

  10. Bit of an exaggeration there! Blackpool are losing at Burnley as we speak and are poor on their travels. Brighton can't score to save their lives at the moment. Leicester arrived without a manager and fresh from a 3-0 thumping at home to Millwall - and we only just beat them! So one tough game as it turned out, and we lost it!

  11. But you know we always struggle with the games we think we're going to walk.

If anything, I more nervous about Bristol and Hull then the last four games.

  13. I get the feeling ALLARDYCE still hasn't made his mind up about NOBLE or DIOP as the holding player.Last week he went for DIOP ,todays game he plumped for NOBLE? Not being at the game it's difficult to gauge each of their performances. But for anyone who has watched both players live in matches, who do you prefer and why?

  14. Noble is far and away the better player; but Diop holds.
