You have to wonder why these managers are paid huge salaries. Half time, two goals to the good, Leicester on the ropes and no manager to sort them out; the second half should have been like stealing crisps from a kid. But far from it! The caretaker put down his broom, changed Leicester's tactics and sent them out to defeat Allardyce's charges 2-1 in the second half, with a bold substitution to replace Beckford along the way.
Brilliant! We had home advantage, a two goal lead and the better team, but Doctor Evil couldn't out manoeuvre, out motivate nor out organise a vacuum!
How much are we paying him exactly?
3 Points bottom line, we're still work in progress.
ReplyDeleteHow long before we see the finished article? Almost one third of the way through the season and we are still a work in progress!
ReplyDeleteWhat more does Big Sam have to do to please you?? What a great result, and more pleasingly a great performance today. We are certainly a lot more entertaining than under Grant, yet we can play ugly to win the points like against BHA on Monday. This is the most comitted disciplined West Ham side fir some fine and most of the credit for that must go to Allardyce.
ReplyDeleteHF, I think youre having a go at Big Sam thats a bit unfair. The minute Carew came off, a move I completely understood based on the commentary, I was worried. Piq sucks. Plain and simple. But with the 5 sub limit he had very few options. So without enough firepower up front due to a nitwit, lazy frontman, the foxes were able to run at us at will. I dont agree that their comeback was due to some mistake by Allardyce.
ReplyDeleteThe bigger question is, without Cole available what option do we have to back up Carew? Thats a concern to me.
Well done Nobes, officially MOM today (would have given it to Baldock myself), although not an outstanding performance but nonetheless very good but as usual his detractors on this site will only post comments when he has a bad game.
ReplyDeleteShame Carew had to be subbed due to a twat of a ref, as that was the turning point of the game not the half time caretaker's team talk.
Only option open to Allardyce due to the ridiculous 5 subs rule (plus injuries) was Piquionne - nuff said!

Looks like I've copied USA Dave's comments but his post wasn't visible when I was typing mine -honest!
ReplyDeleteJH
You know what they say about great minds, JH!
ReplyDeleteOur defence is still piss poor. It's painful to watch at times.
ReplyDeleteWhen will you be happy Hf, when will you be happy? Bit of a miserable old fart aint ya?
ReplyDeleteLOL Yep. Second half showing was poor though wasn't it? Shipped two, scored one from a long ball and Leicester hit the bar. What did Allardyce say at half time? He should ask the caretaker to give the half time talk in future!
ReplyDeleteShit! I thought we won :(
ReplyDeleteOnly saw the highlights so it is hard to judge but I have had two thoughts from watching them.
ReplyDeleteBaldock reminds me of an english David Villa. Villa wasn't one of the wonder kids either so he had to make his way up through the second tier of spanish football by scoring goals and that is just what Baldock is doing. It is great to finally have someone in the claret and blue that I can actually look forward to seeing play.
Noble got MOM today which is great for him. If he can keep that up for a season I might have to change my views on him.
Missing the point as usual Fanno?
ReplyDeleteNothing at all to do with half time, Carew's substitution was the turning point...try to keep up!
BTW Leicester also scored 1 from a long ball & we also hit the bar, try & see some positives for a change seeing as you put so much emphasis on our fixtures for this month, 9 points from 12 is pretty good IMHO.
JH
Well 3 points is 3 points and we're in 2nd place. Can't argue with that.
ReplyDeleteWest Ham hit the bar as well and Baldocks second was as good a long ball goal as the one from Beckham to Giggs some time ago against us for Man Utd but you no-one ever criticises them when they play long ball.
ReplyDeleteWasn't that long ago that you posted you'd rather see us win ugly than play football and lose, and now you have it, so stop whinging you moany old fuck.
Allardyce is the man for the job and hasn't moaned once about the cards he has been dealt but got on with the job and results speak for themselves. Brighton and Blackpool tried to play pretty football against us and got nowhere. As for Southampton we let in 1. How many did Boro ship in yesterday?
As for the finished article, maybe we'll see that when ALL the injured players are back and Big Sam has a full squad to select from. Not an easy task winning with a full squad and half the team out injured.
You weren't this quick on the draw with Grant's inspiring halftime talks HF. Why's that?
ReplyDeleteDid Grant come up against a team without a manager?
ReplyDeleteNo, but our opposition always did!
ReplyDelete(And yours is a silly reply HF, and you know it)
But your initial question appears to suggest that there's been no change - the half time talks are still useless! So on that basis, Grant can't have been to blame can he? By the way, shouldn't you be commenting on Noble's man of the match performance yesterday? Or are you choking on the humble pie? And where is Sav, are they trying to dig him out of a mountain of Greek debt.
ReplyDeleteIf Piquionne 'sucks' as USA Dave states, then what about his accurate & excellent head-on assist for our third [winning] goal.....
ReplyDeleteEven a stopped clock is right twice a day.
ReplyDeleteIs it just me or are some of you a bunch of whinge buckets. Grow some balls, and stop wearing your wifes knickcker and stop moaning we won didn't we. Play your sunday football and leave the game to the pro's. Ffs whats wrong with u lot. Bottom line is this league is hard, so stop whinging u old gits.lol
ReplyDelete13:48, you are right about that flick on. But on the whole his play has been awful. He is never willing to do more than the minimum needed. His fly tipping incident seems to show that attitude extends beyond the pitch.
ReplyDeleteI think one of the key things here is that the Leicester managers got it wrong at the beginning and it cost them. They changed at half time when it was too late....thats bad management not good managements. As mostly this season, West Ham under Big Sam did enough to win (just mind you) and winning is what we need.....
