Defoe Snubs QPR

Ex Hammer Jermaine Defoe has dismissed rumours that he might join QPR in January. Judas he may be, but he is not willing to walk out on Tottenham when things are looking so good - even if he isn't playing; and there is just a suggestion that he doesn't consider the Rs worthy of his talents anyway.

To be honest, QPR look a reasonable fit for Defoe to me, if Fernandes and Mittal really are prepared to dip into their pockets and splash the cash. Tottenham apart, none of the big clubs have ever fancied him but that, of course, hasn't registered with Defoe who still sees himself as a footballing god.

Truth is, the guy is a nearly man. He had the potential to be something very special but, like so many, he tripped over his own ego. Still, he would do a job for QPR and would score enough goals to ensure they stay in the Prem - if his ego allows him to make such an obvious step down.

Chances of it happening? Remote.

  1. Come on HF, would you really expect someone like Judas to join someone like QPR? As much as I don't like him, he's too good for the R's!

It will take more than a 20-a-season goal poacher to ensure their Prem survival. Which is why he won't join! He would almost certainly be joining a sinking ship.

Better to sit aboard in the dry at Spuds than float away to the depth of the C'ship with QPR mate.

Anyhoo, I think he'll end up at somewhere like Stoke or Everton.......

  3. Matt, was he too good for Portsmouth too? I don't remember them being very fashionable at the time. The little scumbag will go anywhere to be No 1 striker. His ego is ten times as big as he is - you can see that when he comes on as sub, he tries to score everytime the ball is at his feet regardless of where he is on the pitch!. He has never been, nor will he ever be a team player. QPR? Him and Warnock deserve each other.

  6. Newcastle or Villa perhaps Matt.

1719 Once upon a time Defoe played for West Ham. He is held in the highest regard by all West Ham fans and we take a keen interest in his career as a result.

  7. Lord Canning, Pompey were a better team back then than they are now, so now I would say he wasn't too got for Pompey. For me Portsmouth, with the right manager are 10x the team QPR will ever be.

You are right though, the little pr*ck will play for anyone that can make him look good.

The only difference is, I think QPR have some decent players, better than him! It's just as a team with that manager and owner, I don't think they have a snowball's chance in hell of establishing themselves as a serious Prem club.

  8. Read carefully 17.35,'if he doesnt want to come we dont want him' If he WANTED to join us with the same enthusiasm as barton or wright-phillips then yes i would sell my mother! But his attitude stinks, we need honest players who work for the team.By the way, what is 'you sill man' I take it you were insulting me for not wanting a player who doesnt to come to my club...I would honestly prefer helguson on current form or even bothroyd for their commitment.

  9. We have' better players' as Matt Ryan correctly stated [20.09].So how am i being ridiculous...He is good but not as good as he thinks, and he doesn't play for the team which is what we do.We already have taraabt and his ego...and he's becoming surplus to requirements. So if he doesnt want us - why do you think we want someone like that?

  10. what i really do not understand is all the bitterness and pretty pathetic cheap shots from so many west ham fans, you went down and we went up,get over it. to be honest i don't give a flying f%~#k about west ham i really couldn't care less how they do so i don't see why so many west ham fans are so pre-occupied with qpr, perhaps you should concentrate on how your own team do!
