Could we really sign Kebe?

Apparently we are interested in Reading's Kebe. You have to ask "Really?" on two counts. Firstly, the guy is very, very, very hit and miss. He is 27 and has achieved nothing in the game to date, managing just 3 caps for Mali! Reading fans regard him as lightweight, a player who lacks heart and desire. He is over six foot, of course, so that's probably why Allardyce fancies him.

Then there is the little matter of the Collison assault. Imagine the frosty atmosphere if Kebe rocked up for training. There's unfinished business between the two of them, and I doubt the rest of the squad have seen the funny side of Kebe's pulling up his socks gesture.

Better than Faubert? Maybe. And that is one damning judgement!

  1. He is not Premiership quality but we are not in the Premiership. He does have something that we are severely lacking in the side - pace. Faubert when he feels like it - starts his "assault" on a full back from a standing start. Most the time he does not even bother to take him on; choosing instead to float a hopeful ball in from the half way line. He is not a winger or a full back. So what is he? With Kebe we know what we would be getting at least

  2. A broken leg as soon as Collison catches him on the training pitch?

  3. Just out of curiosity, what did you make of Luis Jimenez during his brief spell at Upton Park?

  4. Dunno why you keep picking on faubert. he joint second in the Hammers list for assists. Along with Piquionne for your information.

  5. LOL AR.95, check out his career subsequently. Says it all! A typical Nani / Zola / Duxbury signing. Bloody hopeless!

  7. Wasn't it around the same time that we were linked to Martin O'Neil last season? Yet Sunderland took the decision and are now out of trouble, where Gold and Sullivan tried to be clever and ended up sticking with that miserable man. I expect Brady to have another little 'I told you so' dig, as O'Neil was her choice.

  9. Truth is, O'Neill buggered us around in the same way as he buggered Leicester around. He didn't want the West Ham job, he was saying to somebody, "If you want me, you'd better act quickly" and using us as a stalking horse. Which manager was under pressure back then, apart from Grant? One eye on the Chelsea job perhaps? We would have appointed him, he walke away remember. Who let the press in on the "secret"? Who says it wasn't O'Neill or one of his mates?

Funny the way he was talking to Leicester, then suddenly announced he wasn't interested - exactly as with ourselves - only for Bruce to be sacked and the Sunderland vacancy come up.

  10. Kebe is much better than Faubert, he's probably the best winger in the league- he certainly was last year. Unfortunately I can't see him agreeing to join us because of Collison. He'll probably go back to France, or a struggling Premier League side. He's supposed to suffer from stress or anxiety which was why he never made it in France before joining Reading, but maybe he's over that.

  12. No HF. He was close to being named but D&G tried to make Grant walk rather than sack him and pay compensation. He saw the shenanigans and thought better of it. Brady's bitter digs in her columns confirm this.
