Liverpool's Meaningless Victory Over Everton Prolongs Slow Death Under Dalglish
The blinkered fans of Liverpool FC won't see it like that of course. They have bragging rights this morning and that's all that matters. After winning the League Cup and thumping their Stanley Park neighbours, some will now be regarding this as a great season. Beat Stoke next game up to qualify for the semifinal of the FA Cup and everything in the garden will be smelling of Red's roses. What fools!
Two big questions arise from yesterday's game:
1) Why can Liverpool hammer Everton 3-0 but struggle against lesser teams - what is wrong with the attitude of the players?
2) What happens when Gerrard retires or slows down significantly? He's been a truly great player for the club but his body has always been fragile and his all action style is not suited to playing into the mid and late thirties.
Yesterday's victory was meaningless, aside from the local territory dispute. Dalglish belongs in the past and Gerrard is heading for the past. Aside from Captain Fantastic, what do Liverpool have to offer? Suarez wants away, despite Dalglish's ill advised support; Carragher has one foot in the footballing grave; and Gerrard will miss as many games as he plays for the remainder of his season. £100 million has been spent, and the absence of two ageing local boys will cripple the team ludicrously.
To become a force again, Liverpool FC need a new manager; but the chances of that happening were set back yesterday. Now Dalglish will groom Carragher and Gerrard to replace him in a new boot room dynasty. But the boot room is an echo of an era long gone. Liverpool need Jose. And unless they go out and get him, they will continue to feed their fans the scraps of domestic cups and victories in the Merseyside derby.
One man has an even broader smile than Kenny Dalglish this morning; Sir Alex Ferguson is chuckling over his porridge!
We must be doing something right to get a reaction out of you. stop being bitter stick to west ham matters. where are they now championship under a dinosaur like sam allardyce..meh who really gives a shit about them?
ReplyDeleteWhat a shit post!!! How do u know Suarez wants away?? Carra is no longer a starter when we have agger and we have Coates coming through as his replacement!! We bought Henderson who is still young to fill Gerrards boots when he retires or slows down!! He's still only young!! Also got Shelvey who in a few years will b a class act!! So defence is sorted, midfield ( bar a right winger ) is sorted and just need a out and out goalscorer
ReplyDeleteSuarez was the key to our victory yesterday against Everton. He did not look like a player wanting to leave. Suarez has more integrity than that; especially when you consider the very harmonious way he left Ajax. Liverpool definitely need a new manager; one in tune with present day football. Dalglish's signings did not feature prominently against Everton yesterday. The next months will definitely test the mettle of this Liverpool team. The owner of the football club has been very adamant for a top four finish. That is to be expected after an outlay of over a hundred million pounds. I must say he has been very reasonable with his expectations from the team; when some owners will be expecting the Premiership Title after such significant investments. YNWA.
ReplyDeleteI'd worry more about your team than ours mate.
ReplyDeleteYou obviously know little about the game if you think we are slowly dying - I've seen some really good performances this year from Liverpool but we have been very wasteful in front of goal.
Lets hope you get promoted this year, a nice easy 6 points is just what we need next season!!
not sure why you think suarez wants away, i don't think i have seen that anywhere,
ReplyDeleteas for kenny dalglish being the wrong man? maybe long term you could be right but better dalglish than your currant manager Big Spam

ReplyDeleteIt is widely believed that HF loves nothing more than to sit on his porch in the dead of night, rocking slowly in his y-fronts, strumming his.......banjo
What a load of cobblers from 'hammers fan', everyone knows what a Derby game means to EVERY club!! But then, whufc are running out of derby games as the most of their neighbours are in the prem!!
ReplyDeleteDon't fret over KD, he is 10 times the manager big sam will ever be. Just get over your own shortfalls and let Kenny get on with his job at the Reds.

ReplyDeleteyeah at least we Hammers have a grasp on reality unlike many Reds fans. I used to think Newcastle fans were the most deluded ever in the era of the Great King Kev Delusion but you guys really take the biscuit -always a clue when folk respond to areasoned piece with abuse.
It wasn't a reasoned piece though!! It were something that you don't have a clue about!! So don't worry about us!! You just stick to your club and us Liverpool fans will worry with what goes on at ours!!
