QPR should sack Hughes and appoint Cisse manager!

Djibril Cisse of QPR celebrates scoring the opening goal during the Barclays Premier League match between Aston Villa and Queens Park Rangers at Villa Park on February 1, 2012 in Birmingham, England.
At last, a mature response to the ghost goal and to the defeat at Bolton. But has it come from Mark Hughes? Nope. He has chuntered his full and blamed it all on the officials, failing to acknowledge that the offside Cisse goal balanced things up and put the Hoops in control of their own destiny.

Instead, it has fallen upon Cisse to step up to the managerial plate and put things into context. QPR lost at Bolton because of bad defending. And that's it in a nutshell. Recognise that fact and you can start to put things right. Bleat on about the officials and nothing is going to change because the result is in the record books.

So, Cisse's mature words are worth carrying. Neptune said: "We reacted really well, but we conceded that goal at the end. It was a mistake, because to be honest with five minutes to go you cannot really concede a goal like that. It's not only the defenders who defend, it starts with the attack. The whole team should have done better on that goal."

Well said that man! And he was also much more mature than his manager in his assessment of the ghost goal, explaining,  "The referees are only humans and they need help. They need whatever help they can get, and video technology is one option."

It's true that Cisse failed to acknowledge that his own goal should have been struck off for offside and claimed that the Hill decision "cost us the game", but he came much closer than Hughes to accepting responsibility. QPR aren't in the bottom three because of officials, they are there because Wright-Phillips is a donkey, Anton Ferdinand is a yard dog, Barton is a toothless terrier, Taarabt is over-rated, Nedum is nothing above ordinary and the team as a whole, apart possibly from Zamora and Cisse, lack Premiership quality.

QPR can still get out of this mess, but unless the weaknesses are recognised, they don't stand a cat in hell's chance. At West Ham we know that you're never too good to go down, and the stupid arrogance of Fernandes and the gRs, shouting about future glories and forgetting about present tribulations, has been a primary cause of the club's struggles.

Twittering, bickering and complaining hasn't saved a club from relegation yet. QPR need to learn that lesson; and fast!

  1. What you tend to forget is that no the Cisse goal balannced it out. If QPR had gone in front we could and should've a totally different match (how would the Bolton players and their own fans have reacted). I only wish that QPR pull off the great escape and that the mallets get overtaken by the royals and the bluebirds and lose in the playoffs.

  2. spot on. though I would say Nedum is quite good, and calling Barton a toothless terrier is somewhat of a compliment

  3. But we all know 1925 that had Bolton been awarded an equalising goal that was offside, all the Rs would be claiming that the whole impetus of the game was changed in Bolton's favour! After 47 minutes the score was 1-1 and the officials errors had cancelled one another out. The game was to be won from that point, and Bolton went on to win it! Why? Because your defence is crap! Where was the marking for the first goal for pity's sake?

  4. I have always thought you were a bit of a nutter ranting at QPR from behind prepared Boleyn Ground positions but I have to say you are spot on this time and and my surprise at your own sudden conversion to maturity is matched only by that of Cissé who we all thought was the ultimate uber-nutter!

So full marks; you're only wrong about Tarrabt - watch him up close - he is real class and would shine in a decent team (like QPR's last year)

I was really disturbed by the FA's half time knee-jerk reaction to the ghost goal demanding instant technology - if ever a statement was there to get the officials to 'even things up'... Absolutely discgraceful

  5. Spot on RoyBoy, good to see a couple of Rs who have a sense of balance.

  6. Surely there is enough piss poor football at Upton Park at the moment for you to not have to write yet another article on QPR?

  7. Yes, you're totally wrong about Taraabt. Clearly he and Barton have a problem with each other; the latter slagging him off pretty much the day he arrived, the former sometimes seemingly oppressed on the pitch.
And Barton is our big problem. As a captain, in the midfield where most of our defensive/delivery issues lie, a terrible example setter, rarely, if ever, gee-ing up players or fans for that matter. His incessant Twittering, often until the small hours (don't we have training in the morning) reveal much about him, his mentality and his priorities in life. As a player meanwhile, he can't cross the ball, doesn't tackle and his pass completion rate woeful.
But he is picked by Hughes, and that worries me more.
People slag off Briatore, who saved QPR from the administrators, but he stepped in when neccesary, albeit like a manic dictator sometimes. But he wanted results quickly.
Fernandes who is pissing his money away (we're 50 mill in debt) needs to step in, sort out a captain and get some backbone in this team.

  8. Well said. Agree with Royboy, Taarabt has quality.

Add to this Mackie a hardworker. Buzsaky and Wright Phillips need to take more chances.

I think we are missing Faurlin.

  9. Surely AT needs to take more chances? 66 shots, no goals!

  10. Taarabt- yeah well Im sure he hated Warnocks pram comments & got very moody, plus no premiership pay raise for AT, plus Barton got $80,000 a week to do sod all in midfield and the captaincy of a team he obviously loved & played his arse off for and he was reportedly both smug & crass about it during the entirity of his 1st game in a hoops shirt score some goals & be the noteworthy celebrity you wish you were), plus AT was not allowed to transfer when he wanted to leave- while Warnock was telling the press he was ready to dump him - so no surprise his form was already in serious decline when Hughes took over. Still, chin up Adel. Save QPR from relagation & you will be a REAL hero, never mind anyone else - you have a superb talent...go for it
