West Ham 3 Eintrach Frankfurt 1

Great memories. Brian Moore's commentary, confirming his love affair with Trevor Brooking. Day, Lampard, Bonds, Tommy Taylor, Keith Robson, Billy Jennings, Patsy Holland...a cast of thousands! Germans? We piss on Germans!

  1. Probably the best atmosphere I've ever experienced at UP (along with the League Cup Semi against Coventry)......and not forgetting Frankfurt's best ever named 'keeper!!

  2. Anony-mouse says,

This was the first game I was ever taken to. Trouble is we never got in. We got there via the Woolwich ferry. The sound of bubbles coming from the ground was amazing even as we were locked outside out.

I saw this video recently and got nervous watching it even though I knew the score! Brian Moore= legend.

  3. Great days eh Anony-mouse? Absolutely agree about Brian Moore - he had a real soft spot for Brooking, Bonds and Bobby and was my favourite commentator by a country mile! No neutrality for him. Love the way he keeps talking about "the Germans" in that commentary, you can almost hear "work that Hitler" as you listen. Love the adverts too. Rent a colour TV from Rumbelows! Memories!

Another Brooking header! And this one was genuine unlike the Final goal. And what a lovely finish for his second and our third. And what a screamer from the lesser known Robson! Also good to be reminded of Coleman. Billy Jennings was a personal favourite of mine - shame he made a hash of his chance at the end!

  5. It's amazing that these memories are stored on You Tube Ash. I remember Brooking's second goal as if it was yesterday, and the clearance off the line with "the Germans" demanding a penalty but I had forgotten that Brooking scored the first with a header - and a deft one at that - and would never have been able to name Robson as the scorer of our second.
