Leeds United Supporters Trust Invite The Ire of Bates

Brave or stupid? Accurate or speculative? Well intentioned or an attempt to cover their arses after extravagant claims that they knew of investors keen to purchase the club? Who knows, but the latest statement from LUST has just blown the lid off the Leeds United dustbin - and angered by the Levi court ruling, you can bet your life that Master Bates will be inviting his lawyers to run the rule over an outpouring which implies that the players are in revolt.

One thing is for sure, Warnock is returning from his hols to a club deep in crisis. If he's keeping abreast of events, he must be wondering if it is worth the headache. And that's the danger of the game that LUST are playing. As much as they may want to, they are not going to drive Bates out unless it is on his own terms. Warnock, on the other hand, may well decide to walk. His magic wand looked broken after taking charge anyway and he now has the perfect excuse to tell Bates where to stick his job. Forest must seem a much easier job at the moment and even Birmingham may hold an attraction given the present playing squad is stronger.

So as well intentioned as LUST unquestionably are, it may be that their latest step is ill advised. What do they hope to achieve exactly? What investor will be interested in a club where fans, players and the Board are at war with each other? Why would Snodgrass want to hang around now? Last season may have been disappointing but mid table obscurity is preferable to a relegation battle, and a club at war with itself usually struggles. Never mind investors, what players worth their salt would want to join if the dressing room is genuinely as disaffected as LUST suggest.

One thing is for sure, if there really is a simmering player revolt as LUST suggests, then a leader needs to step forward rather than hide behind anonymity. Say what you like about the bastards who used to wear the shirt, one thing they could never have been accused of was being meek.

  5. A well thought out article. It is certainly a potential future scenario....Though it is still possible Mr. Bates will come back from his holidays and provide Mr.Warnock with some funds.I hope so.Though I would rather there were signs of a good youth policy with lads growing up together with the Leeds shirt..Like the Hammers with Moore,Peters,Hurst.Same as Leeds with Bremner,Cooper,Reaney,Hunter,Gray Lorimer etc..Then you also "bred" Cole,Ferdinand,Lampard Carrick...Good luck to West Ham this year.

  12. Although I do think this guy enjoys winding us up - his article is sadly correct. I have nothing against LUST, in fact I admire and appreciate their proactive approach to attempting to remove the sc*m that is running our club but this potentially does more harm than good in my eyes. I don't think we'd come back if we went down again and it's looking sadly likely at this stage. It is just not good enough - going to try switch off from it and watch the Euros - this summer is panning out worse than the last one.

  13. Why complain about this guy writing truthful articles about our club?

At least he writes honestly even if it's tinged with winding us up.... more than can be said for the less than wonderful YEP and other oily rags too scared to print anything truthful about Bates!

Being true LUFC supporters (as most of you make out) ask yourself this....If you were a professional footballer with a choice of clubs would you join our club with Bates at the helm and all the discontent it brings? - answer >>> very few, and those that say yes are probably saying it out of loyalty than common sense.

I'm sure they'll be people that try to diss my comment as a non true supporter......please bear this in mind i'm one of the few bleeders who bought a 20 year ticket! How many of you were that loyal when we were going under?

  16. There will still be some that say you are not a TRUE supporter because you voice criticism of the club and speak honestly 0049. It seems that this is the badge of the modern football fan, a crude loyalty that demands a three monkey approach - See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.
