So we have signed three keepers and two holding midfield players, a centre back, a left back and a striker and still the squad looks too shallow to survive in the Prem. A few short weeks back, Gold was talking about four or five signings so either he was talking out of his arse or he meant four or five SIGNIFICANT signings, in the sense of costing money.
The business so far has been cute, but cute won't cut much ice in the Premiership. Hopefully TweedleDiame and TweedleDiarra will screen our back four effectively, but we still need better full backs (as I have been saying for 5 years now!) and more flair and width in midfield. The bid for Jarvis was promising but foolhardy. He isn't worth £9m!
Loan signings remain an option but haven't worked well for us in the past. Bentley, Lansbury, Keane, Bridge, Jimenez...all mediocre, damaged goods or crap. McCartney did a job but he knew he was coming back if he impressed; you are gambling big time if you base your hopes on players not fully committed to the cause.
So money still needs to be spent and fast!
Jarvis? Are people gone mad? I wouldn't pay four million for him.
ReplyDeleteAnd someone bidding 15 million for Steven Fletcher? You chose the name right HF, the game has gone crazy
Don't miss sunday night's Olympic closing ceremony as it's the last time "EVER"that it will be full to capacity. Once the Olympic spirit has gone,it's gone and you can all get back to the muggings, stabbings and the argos queues (for sovereign rings etc) that are part of your everyday existences
ReplyDeleteI said we should have signed Fletcher when Burnley went down. But £15m? As you say Stani, crazy!
ReplyDeleteis it true you're an armchair west ham fan mate? someone outed you on one of your other posts.
ReplyDeleteIt's true.
DeleteIt's difficult to take in Elland Road and Upton Park in the same afternoon.
ReplyDeleteHows about some of these that wouldnt have even cost that much. GK: Gordon (free) RB Clyne (£4-6m) LB would have taken that Polish fella who was on trial but was joining stoke, deal collapsed. CM Keith Andrews (free) did well at WBA end of last year. RM Kazim-Richards (free/loan) speedy and can score and finally Yakubu who had an apparent £1m release clause in his contract. I would have been quite pleased with these additions to the squad along with the ones that have been made.
ReplyDeleteFletcher's a skilful guy, but that's a crazy price. I was with you regards Eagles too. Was on about him when he was at Manchester Utd. He'd have solved one half of the wingers issue
ReplyDeleteStani, jarvis a quality player and would improve us drastically but for 9 million it isnt worth it not when we could have had the right footed equivelent in michael kightly for 3 million
ReplyDeleteWell done on getting diarrhoea to make those runs from midfield for you. If my memory serves me right he played in all 4 of France,s outstanding Euro campaign. Another marquee signing to join McCartney. Talk about signing shite? Just hope the marquee has ample ventilation.
ReplyDeleteI have to disagree Fred, mate. Whilst he may be an improvement on what we have (which is hardly difficult) he doesn't have enough to his game. We have to aim for better than Jarvis. He's short and takes little strides giving people the impression that he's quick. Apart from that, I don't think his delivery is all that and I don't really remember him getting past players much.
ReplyDeleteStream guys

Sam's plan is coming together nicely..
ReplyDeleteA flat back 4, the 2 defensive midfield players holding back helping cover the back line, Nolan up front with a forward and 2 attacking wings. It's the perfect setup, no midfield at all because we don't need one, just spank the ball long in true hoof ball fashion. God bless you Sam for you inventive, modern approach to football
Omg omg omg. U have a laugh at Leeds journeymen signings. Then u sign a 31 year old muppet. Did I hear u say he has had 3 years premier league experience with Liverpool ?? No I didn't. And why??? Because in those 3 years he didn't play for Liverpool ONCE Jog on muppet :)!
ReplyDeleteWe don't know what we are doing. We are wasting money on crap players. Totally agree with Stani about these two.
ReplyDeleteSo, to summarise the Hammersfanny comments, " Liverpool and Mareille reject Diarra signs for West Ham". Woopeee!
ReplyDelete23:04 I didnt know a former captain of France was considered a muppet. So are we going to say that Thuram, Henry, Cantona and Evra are now muppets too? Your point is now invalid
ReplyDeleteBrendan you are a fool (and a butt ugly one at that).
ReplyDeleteOk then, I take your point. Diarra couldnt possibly be a muppet. How about 'Diarra is old and sh*t', is that politically correct enough for you?
