What Is LUST's Game At Leeds?

Is it just a personal vendetta against Master Bates or do LUST perhaps have other motives? This self annointed "Supporter's Trust" seems to be putting its own self publicity above the best interests of the club, based on the decision to break the "news" of the collapse of the take over yesterday.

According to the YEP - an organ that must stay loyal to Bates to maintain access at Elland Road perhaps - the deal is not yet dead in the water. It is injured and bleeding, and a Great Whites Shark is circling, but the head is still above water, just, and where there's life, there's hope.

So what were LUST up to yesterday? And who and what do they know exactly? There are lots of suggestions that they are in contact with the would be new owners and they claim that others are interested in bidding for the club, but we can all play that game. Anybody could have done the sums and worked out that the exclusivity period expired yesterday; dear God, even this Southern twat posted the day before that the deal had hit an impasse and what do I know?

There's no getting away from the fact that LUST's "announcement" has cast a shadow over the club only days before the big kick off, however. Suddenly Warnock has transfer listed two players and internecine warfare has broken out. The new players will be asking what is going on, Warnock will be twitchy, players like Bechio might start wondering if he wants to hang around and the fans are all set to demonstrate against the Board. What a way to go into the new season!

But the deal isn't dead, so why did LUST suggest it was? Let's put a different spin on it. The deal is still on as the new buyers seek to iron out a few issues but the club is so confident of selling the brand that they are inviting new bidders rather than extending exclusivity. Doesn't that read better? Isn't that the responsible way of reporting the present state of affairs? So why did LUST take the most destructive tack exactly?

All these hints about having a contact with the would be buyers invite suspicion. Are LUST receiving information only, or is there a more tangible incentive for acting as a stalking horse and agent provocateur for the prospective buyers? Are we talking free lunches, trips to Bahrain, free petrol vouchers, hard cash perhaps? Wouldn't a bad start to the season and a club tearing itself apart increase the pressure on Bates to sell, forcing the price down, and wouldn't that be worth money to the mystery buyers? No allegations here, just questions that might be posed and which should be answered.

So are LUST manipulating the situation or are LUST being manipulated themselves? I really can't understand what was to be gained from yesterday's announcement if the best interests of the club are the primary concern. Maybe it is just egos at stake in the case of LUST or maybe it is something more sinister. As an organisation, they keep calling for openness from Bates, but they are holding a pack of marked cards to their own chests aren't they? Why don't LUST reveal who and what they know and why, exactly, they are in this take over loop?

Calls for clarity cut both ways don't they?

  5. Wow I cannot believe it, the first intellectual post you have ever produced with regards to Leeds United. And one I personally agree with. A member of LUST was on talksport and he was as useful as a chocolate tea pot. LUST seem to think they are big players in these talks, but when it comes down to specifics they only know as much as the next man.

  6. I know you get a lot of negative comments from some Leeds fans but I have to say a lot of your comments seem to be well balanced and constructive. Keep it up. As for LUST, why are they given so much news column space when they are clearly not the voice of all Leeds fans and do not have any special access to information compared to other bodies such as the press. Their comments yesterday will have a bad effect on Leeds so it is a good point to ask why they did it. It is certainly time for Bates to move on. He brought a lot of financial stability to Leeds and puts us in a place where we can be taken over by a well financed new owner. I'm sure Bates will sell Leeds on soon. At the age of 80 I can't see why he'd not want to move Leeds on.

  13. I am not here to mouth off at you or anything like that because i can't be arsed. I just want to know why you write about Leeds so much on your West Ham blog? Is it simply to get more hits via newsnow to make your blog seem more impressive?? You just seemed to be obsessed with us. My other Leeds mates (im from Northern Ireland so there is only a few albeit alot more than West Ham) rarely talk about West Ham unless its about hopefully getting Nicky Maynard

  15. I really can't understand why LUST went for the 'collapse approach.' As aLeeds fan for more than 50 years I am absolutely fed up with LUST, the Bates Out mob and all the rest of the self opinionated fools who claim to know everything about the club. You are absolutely correct that LUST have created a negative atmosphere so after a six months of positive change we are heading back to where we were last season. The support for the team from the Bates haters has been non existent. If Bates left tomorrow would they be any more positive - I doubt it!

  16. And like a panther hf springs into action. Only over 7 hours after the news broke yesterday. Thankyou for your concern and intelligent comment- oh wise one. Haven't you got it yet? These comments are posted to entertain other Leeds supporters. We are having a right laugh. You clearly choose which ones get posted, anything with abuse or spelling mistakes goes straight on. That way you can give the illusion of superiority, despite your own grammar frequently letting you down. Any comment about your personality disorder or how you neglect your family to indulge your obsession with Leeds won't be posted either. That is if your family haven't already left and disowned you.

  17. 7,500 members is hardly self appointed. The YEP is hardly a loyalist Bates rag.
The LUST aims have been transparent and have been faithful to their Vision Statement.
LUST aims are purpose are clear, emphatic and understandable.
I only wish I could say the same for you and your obsessive scribblings.
Do you have a vision or aim. If so what is it? Can you try explain what rubbishing of Leeds United has to do with WHU?
I always admired WHU brand of football as it was played till last year.
Seems absurd that you are not pre- occupied with the changes that your once admirable club has undergone.
But does that really interest You?

  18. I quite like your posts, and this one asks a very good question. The way I see it LUST jumped at the chance to 'get in first' and claim the limelight and have got it wrong...again. Ken Bates is a prat, and a southern one at that, but this has simply played into his hands by highlighting the lack of professionalism of LUST. I just want to go to ER and support the Whites, not listen to 10 to 15 year olds chanting 'Bates out' ...perhaps they could chant 'LUST out' but I doubt it. Good post, still worried about your fixation with Leeds though!!MOT forever..

  20. For once, I completely agree....... what are LUST's motives... and do they actually cause damage to the club whilst trying to achieve their goals????

    ReplyDelete
  21. Well said, LUST are almost a big a menace as Bates to our club; having had the misfortune to listen to Gary Cooper being interviewed, it is quite clear he hasn't a clue what's going on or who may or may not be involved in any takeover ( if there is such a thing and i have my doubts on that score)They (LUST) are just trying to big themselves up to get more members, no Leeds supporter with a brain ( and despite your thoughts they are the vast majority) would contemplate any link with LUST. if you want the nearest thing to truth then read The Scratching Shed or Right in The Gary Kelly's and ignore anything those tossers are LUST are saying.

all the matters is the question of are there investors or not, LUFC or LUST cannot influence whether someone has money to invest.

I thought LUST were out of order making an announcement before the club....trying to give the impression that they are "in the know" and bigger than the club is not a good position. Lust seem to like the sound of their own voices and the publicity.

ps.did you see that West Ham spent 4.3 million on agents fees last year?

  24. Finally A post I agree with.

LUST are a self important bunch of idiots that represent a small minority of the clubs fan base.

  25. Couldn't agree more, LUST seem to be all chat. At the end of the day there isn't anything to suggest they know anything more than any other Whites fans. To be honest, I wish the trust would just keep quiet as all they are achieving is confusion and negativity going into the new season, which, to be honest, is pretty crucial one for us!

Hear hear, totally agree! I am a Leeds fan since 1969 and sad to say 'jobs for the old boys' never got us anywhere but this debarcle is the other end of the spectrum. We have a chairman who obviously wants to see us fail on the pitch but is still convinced LUFC is worth considerably more than is being offered. Take the offer Bates and back off then hopefully Lust will shut up too!!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Good post and it puts a much more positive spin on things.

I understand Bates wants to stay on as Chairman and that has always been a problem with this bid. Hopefully the deal can still go through and Bates will realise he's not wanted and won't be needed again until the Xmas party!

  33. Your opinion on LUST, Bates and all things related to Leeds is of no importance. You claim to be a West Ham fan but are obviously just a Daily Mail journalist wannabe.

Can you just clarify if you are suggesting that LUST are taking bribes from the potential investors? Hopefully they might read this blog and sue you for libel and get this pathetic blog shut down.

  43. IMHO, LUST didn't have a clue about what was going on with the takeover. Only the day before they were demanding information from the club or the investors. Maybe the 'announcement' was just a calculated bit of propaganda to force a response, which actually worked. But they still know F all.

That said it was only ever banter on my part anyway. On the brightside if a taekover doesnt happen then at least we'll get to beat you again 2013/14.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I find it laughable that people on here are questioning LUST, I really do. Not one of you have a clue what is going on and it's as well you don't.

If the Leeds fans on this blog are questioning their motives then I suggest you go support another club. They are representing the fans, they can't tell us everything as they don't want to scupper the deal which is in a precarious position. It's all going to come out, every detail, but you will have to be patient. We are skint and have mortgaged off our season ticket money. We have spent £7m on the ground, £3m on court cases and £m? on other non essential parts of the club like bars and conference centres whilst spending nothing on the team. Our 14th placed position was a result of this failed business plan by Bates, and to defend him is a joke.

Yesterdays shenanigans was brinksmanship. LUST will have released information to force the clubs hand or because the deal was genuinely finished. They are not professionals, they are normal blokes doing an unenviable job just remember that. Anyone who thinks they are not connected to people involved in this deal couldn't be more wrong.

As for you Hammersfan, your writing style is superb and genuinely engaging. But this obsession with Leeds is incredibly sad. Honestly why don't you concentrate on your own club. A post a week about us I can stomach, but daily and sometimes twice daily posts about a club you don't support just to see the reactions of Leeds fans is pathetic. You and your fellow hammers can sit there giggling like children at the reaction of us Leeds fans but just remember one thing. You will never be as big a draw as us.

    ReplyDelete
  50. after all your bollocks from the past week this is a decent post. i personally dont fully read into what lust says. the club will reveal all in due course.i dont need a group of self appointed guess men claiming to 'know people' to plug the gaps between actual news.

    ReplyDelete
  51. After many blogs written with a anti-northern slant, mainly to stir a reaction, successfully I may add, at last a well written, though provoking blog. I agree LUST are a self appointed, un elected group that seem to be planning some sort of coup de tat. I for one am fed up with their negative spin and self congratulatory attitude. As HF said would a positive spin be more helpful, yes for sure. A negative spin, spouting and vitriol will only cause problems attracting investment and cause attrition between fans. A Society voted in by the fans for the fans is fine, an elected committee who are accountable to the fans fine, a society passionate about the club fine. LUST I am afraid are none of these. Believe me I hate Bates with a heat of a thousand suns, but LUST are just as bad and really on closer inspection
have many similar characteristics as him.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Well well, imagine that, a bit of thought and no rubbishing of the Whites, see how long you can keep it up. Still I would dearly love to know why you are so interested in Leeds, you've even trolled the YEP, I mean come on. Anyway I was expecting to mouth off when i saw this on newsnow but what a bugger I can't. You're still a prick though.Have a nice day hammersfanny.

  53. Haha, I've just realised who you are hammersfanny, you're bloody Ken Bates, its just come to me, you have to be, you call us all sorts of names, rubbish Leeds utd, then inform us LUST have ulterior motives. you have to be Ken Bates because you just sound like him, he does things like that. Anyway Ken lad sell up and sod off. have a nice day.

Pray tell us when the proposed take over will take place and by whom. Maybe your Nemmesis, captain Foresight, will be able to assist you oh clever one - that is if your relationship is not, in any way internecine.

I have no opinion usually re: LUST, however this tub thumping, rabble rousing reaction from them 2 days from effectively the start of the season will do no good what so ever. Neither will a boycott. I firmly believe the takeover is not dead, just somebody along the line needs a kick up the arse. (look if you don't hurry up and get your cheque book out we will offer it out elsewhere). 58. Wow you have written an article which i actually agree with!
Have had a lot of reservations about LUST and their motives for a long time. Especially that fat idiot Cooper the self appointed god on anything Leeds.
Fact is the whole debacle was started by them breaking the news in the first place.
The club would have been perfectly happy to do their business in private only making an announcement if and when a deal was finalised. If no one had known no one would be bothered about things falling through(possibly).
But no they wet their pants at the possibility of Santa going and raised hopes far too early. Now there is going to be open warfare again at Leeds. Right on the eve of a new season! Great top job LUST well done.
Wouldn't mind so much if he even bothered turning up to games once in a while! Something he didn't do that much even before Evil Santa banned him.
I on the other hand will be there with my season ticket and proud to do so i might add. Strangely looking forward to it too and strangely optimistic. How mad am i?
