The Carroll Bid Fuels Speculation of New Investor in West Ham

If it was a psychologically stable Tevez, it would still be madness. But a £36m deal - in salary and incentives alone - for a psychologically iffy, slightly above mediocre striker, is beyond mad and falls into the realm of the utterly surreal.

I am still of the opinion that this is all a ruse to boost season ticket sales, but if there is even a shred of truth in the reports then we should start a "Save Our Club and Stop the Signing of Carroll" campaign immediately. What the hell is going on? A couple of weeks back, West Ham called for a wage cap in the Prem, now, it seems we have suddenly come over all Manchester City. Unless there is a secret benefactor offering to finance the deal, and willing to bring the rest of the team up to scratch too, this can surely only end in tears. Carroll is not worth the outlay and we can't afford to blow that sort of dosh.

That said, the "new investment" idea offers hope I suppose. There was a flicker of a rumour last week that somebody was going to pump £60m into the club for buying new players, so add that tease to the speculation surrounding Carroll and suddenly the Boards will go crazy speculating on West Ham launching a bid for a place in the Champions League based our an Eggy explosion of purchases. And Gold, of course, talked about that dream last week.

The Davids are not getting any younger and Gold "has a dream". Who knows? Maybe, just maybe, somebody has indicated a willingness to pump cash into the club based around the move to the Olympic Stadium and David is chasing his dream.

Gold has a dream so why can't we? For a few days at least!

  1. When asked about the rumours, Gold bluntly said no. I think he would have chosen not to answer at all if there was even a thread of truth to it.

Whenever anything good seems to happen to us....it doesnt. No different here.

  2. Your new investor is Ken Bates,he's at a loose end now that he's sold Leeds. He want's to invest in a guaranteed failure as a tax dodge a la The Producers.

  3. I'd stick with the LUFC wind-ups if I were you. No you'll have mustered 4 posts with this one and 2 of those are from Leeds.

Arn't WH interested in their club?

  5. To be honest, look at the comments left by Leeds fans. Perhaps West Ham fans are a tad more intelligent?

  6. Kevin in Manchester writes....

Hmmm as I have written before, I prefer a model that pays a clutch of our top players a bucketload with the rest on more modest reward, however like you I'm not sure that Carroll is a good idea, certainly if he does sign there will be plan a , plan a and plan a when it comes to tactics. Still don't think it will happen any how so I guess it is an academic discussion.

All you need to do now is rent a ground to big for you to fill and you have really made it to the big time.
