So even though Man City didn't want him, Arsenal have still contrived to lose Van Persie to another English club. The fact that old nemesis Ferguson has prised away the only "great" left on Arsenal's books must be all the more agonising for Wenger.
Arsenal fans should be kept away from razor blades, ropes and packets of aspirin as we go into the new season. True they have signed Podolski, and he is a bloody good striker, but the Pole lacks the Dutchman's mercurial brilliance and he may take time to bed down in English football.
The defection of Van Persie confirms what many of us have suspected for some time now, Arsenal are no longer a huge club. They are big, but sat alongside Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea, they are sadly second division. Nice stadium, shame about the team Arsene!
Correction: Pole by birth (perhaps) but Podolski is a German who actual plays in the German national team.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, I agree with your comments regarding Arsenal and it is a great pity it has come to this. I joked with my son who is a fanatical Arsenal supporter to tell me who the new captain will be so that I know from now who they sell next year!
You and your bait, HF. Hahaaa
ReplyDeleteThen he is a Pole Sav, like I said, just like a certain Pietersen is a South African as he recently proved!
ReplyDeleteWhy do you bother writing this shite you arsewipe? "Where do Arsenal go from here"? Well for a start they've got millions to spend and wherever they DO go from here it's guaranteed to be a better place than where you mugs will end up. Funny how, your posts that don't include LUFC end up being 2 way conversations between you and your equally dumb mate stani? It renders your posts pointless and your posts worthless really? Why don't you do us all a favour and apply to the high court for assisted suicide?
ReplyDeleteThree of us now!
ReplyDeleteFour with Sav! Interesting that you now read all the threads Lord Ha Ha, not just thoe about Leeds! Hooked perhaps?
ReplyDeleteWell said Lord Ha Ha,i'm sure if we had a whip round towards any air fare to the swiss dignitas clinic for hf we could send him on his way and spare the literary world this great thinker.
ReplyDeleteLord Ha Ha you are a cock of the highest order sir!
ReplyDeleteArsenal were never really as big as Leeds anyway. Sure they've won more trophies but don't have the global fan base and never really dominated the english game for a sustained period like we have. I still can't understand what's going on down there though as they should be right up there with the other 3. I still predict them to finish 16 places above West Ham mind you.
ReplyDeleteNever dominated the English game for a sustained period? What about 1930 to 38? 5 titles and two FA Cups! Leeds can't match that! Or 97 to 2005? Three titles, 4 FA Cups. Have Leeds ever done the domestic double? Arsenal have. Have Leeds ever gone through an entire season unbeaten? Arsenal did in 2003-04. In fact, Arsenal hold the record for the longest unbeaten run in the top division of English football and, unlike Leeds, have been in the top division since God knows when - 85 on the trot! A record!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, you Leeds fans have no idea do you?
Keep your hair on Hammersfanny I wasn't being serious (1930-38 doesnt count though btw and 97-05 was dominated by scum in reality). I note the only thing you don't dispute is West Ham finishing 16 places below Arsenal (I.e. bottom of the pile!).
ReplyDeleteNow do you understand why people respond to your 'tongue in cheek' comments the way you do?
No no no Hamsterfanny. One inaccurate reply doesn't warrant an address to all Leeds fans. This is irrational behaviour and could explain a lot about your view of the world - I suspect that most of us have worked out what that is now.
ReplyDeleteGood luck tomorrow Hammers (if any read this blog). Hate this wind up merchant and know he represents he views of only 1/40,000th of your paying support!
