West Ham May Lose Big Three In January

Typical. It seemed odd when Diame agreed to join us ahead of Liverpool, but now we know why. The guy's agent insisted on the insertion of a release clause, meaning Diame is free to move on if a club bids seven million for him.

Now that, of course, would represent a tidy profit given we picked him up on a theoretical free - although there was almost certainly a hefty golden hello payment paid to encourage him to join a team threatened with relegation - but in terms of the development of the team, it would be a disaster if Diame were to leave in the January window.

What's really worrying is that this release clause has been made public knowledge. The club certainly hasn't told the press, so the information must have been released by Diame's agent, and it must have been released for a purpose.

There's rumours of clubs sniffing around Reid, talk of Carroll rejoining Newcastle in January, and now Diame is being linked with a move away. And Reid apart, we are not in control of what happens. Ba is still sitting on a seven million release clause at Newcastle. If he goes in January, it could trigger a transfer merry go round and West Ham may be the big time losers. Worrying times just when everything seemed to be going swimmingly well!

  1. Dont usually comment on here but this artical is stupid!!! Carrol can not play for 3 premiership clubs in one season so can only go back to liverpool!!! Reid has 2 and a half years left on his contract and Diame is speculation at the minute!! Also we are above 2 of the 3 teams interested in him and he joined us over Liverpool proberly because of stupid wages offered so none of these will be a problem in my opinion!!

  6. The rule is a player cannot play for MORE than three clubs in a season, so Caroll can leave in January and play for Tottenham or Newcastle in January.

  7. Why are you posting about West Ham on a Leeds blog?

  8. Carroll has come on as a sub for liverpool this season so the only other team he can play for this season is west ham or liverpool. Liverpool dont want him so he will still be here come february

  9. Would be very disappointed in Diame if he was to leave in January, can't see it happening however. Surely moving from Wigan to London to Liverpool/Newcastle in one year is too unsettling?!
