The Season REALLY IS OVER!

Dear God, the season really IS over. No Premiership, no Champions League, no end of the pier Punch and Judy FA Cup Final, no England games, no major tournament that England have already been eliminated from. Suddenly, apart from the U21 stuff, this huge great void opens called the summer. Well it does for some of us. Beano Ashton won't see any change of course!

For those of us who love football, there is still the Friday night game on the astroturf, our artificial field of dreams. I may be 50, but I still managed to get more minutes action under my expanding belt this year than Beano Ashton and Dyer combined. It did involve playing on with a broken nose and with severely bruised ribs but, when you love the game, you play through the pain barrier. When you only play for the money, you don't!

Such are the withdrawal symptoms and my hypocrisy, that I am at Lords on Sunday to watch the Twenty/20 Rounders fiasco, cheering on England in our very own form of baseball. Anybody else going? We could meet up for a beer during the break between games. As stupid as the version of the game is, it will serve as an amusing warm up both for the Ashes and for my 20 night trip to the States and Canada in July and August.

And here I have a confession. Last time the Aussies were over, I signed a pact with the Devil agreeing to terrible things happening in return for England putting one over on the Aussies: World banking crisis, MPs expenses scandal, Tootatthem's incredible recovery for two consecutive seasons, the divorce of Sir Paul and Heather - all down to me folks, guilty as charged.

What would I give to see it repeated this year? Did you see that model of what would happen if Mars span off its orbit...? The Devil keeps upping his prices!

  1. Just a serious question - do you respect any of the current West Ham squad? Or any modern footballers in general? As I say - serious question because you don't seem to, so I was just wondering what keeps you supporting/watching football. Not a dig, just curious my friend - maybe I've got the wrong end of the stick but it comes across in such a way.

  2. This is provoked by my criticism of Ashton and Dyer I presume? Note the way you call them "members of the squad" as opposed to team! If you look back through the blog, you will find me singing the praises of Cole, Ilunga, Behrami, Upson, Green (as a Premiership as opposed to an International keeper), Neill, Collison, Tomkins, Collins, Parker (though I don't think he deserved player of the season) and Noble.

Family commitments mean I'm not about over the weekend - I live about 20 mins walk away from Lords - it would have been good to meet up so I could take the piss - sorry, discuss, your 20/ 20 hypocrisy over a beer!!

  4. You aren't seriously telling me you are 50???? I have tolerated the rubbnish you put up BUT only because I thought you were about 10!!!! At 50 years of age, there really is NO escuse for the daily slagging off of the team you are supposed to support! Come on, get a life and start posting some decent readable material! 95% of the replies on here are saying the same mate! You even have to put up a fake note from some pretend forces guy! You prob won't allow this post but at least you've read what I wrote!

  5. SN6, I will be there for the Saturday of the Ashes test. Maybe a beer after play, or at lunch if you are going.

  6. Matt, that is unfairly churlish. There is no way in a million years that I would make up Tom's endorsement, even down to his son taking a penalty at UP at half time in the Middlesboro game. That guy was fighting for you and me, putting his life on the line, and is a West Ham fan into the bargain. Don't you think he deserves a little more respect than to be termed a figment of my imagination? It is your right not to like this blog, it is not your right to smear a war hero. I think you should apologise. I GENUINELY think you should apologise mate.

Matt you are a twat of the highest order. I was at the game where Tom was introduced before his boy took a penalty.
The guy reads this blog (and if you read it properly you'll see that the 95% you bang on about is b*****ks) and maybe an apology would be in order.

  8. APologise???? for what???? NO CHANCE! I didn't slur "Tom" I slurred YOU for making him up!

The guy did NOT fight for ME, I am 100% against that war and nothing you say will make me apologise for something I didnl't do!

  9. Oh and supernumber6 - F**K YOU! You idiot! I know the guy took a penalty, but I don't belive for ONE SECOND that he wrote that article!

    So F**K off you muppet!

  10. As it happens Matt I am 100% against the war too but that is the fault of the politicians, not the soldiers. Every soldier out there on the front line deserves our support, respect and admiration. You are a moron and a very weak man. Strength is demonstrated when somebody is big enough to apologise.

  11. Let me tell you something! My daughters pen-pale is a little iraqi girl calle suphi her mother AND grandmother were raped and tortured by BRITISH soldiers! It was taken to court and the BRITISH soldiers were found guilty! So you will excuse me if I don't show my support for someone who rapes a woman in front of her SIX year old daughter! ok, both the accused were SCOTTISH and I KNOW not all troops are the same! but I have been scarred and it will take more than a soldier on a website to convince me othetrwise! but I will NOT apologise to someone that I don't know for something I did NOT accuse them of! Especially as the someone that I don't know is doing something I wholeheartedly disagree with!

So Supernumbersix, I suggest you either MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS OR GET BOTH SIDES OF A STORY before you start to judge!

And the same goes for you "so called" Hammersfan!!!

  12. Matt, you are a very, very sad man. Your daughter's pen pal eh? Let's just assume that you do have a daughter, and she does have a pen pal, the letters being sent are a bit tasty aren't they? Hello to my penfriend, I want to tell you what happened today...

To begin with, Tom was in Afghanistan, not Iraq. Your daughter could not have a female penfriend in Afghanistan because girls were not allowed to go to school under the Taliban and were not being taught to read and write. Any contact with the West was absolutely out of the question.

Tell you what, post the link for the trial of these "Scottish soldiers". I don't remember the case personally. What this has to do with Tom, I have no idea. He wasn't in the same regiment. In fact he wasn't in the same country. In fact he wasn't in the same continent!

But irrespective of all this, he was / is / will be risking his life at the behest of our democratically elected government. You claimed he does not even exist. For that, you owe an apology.

  13. In words put so eliquently by House MD. Hammersfan your an Idiot

    ReplyDelete
  14. No sir, "You're an idiot", as demonstrated by your inability to use the correct you're / your!

  15. Right you little f*ckwit! I will look for the link to the soldiers and I will post it if i can find it!

But let me tell you one thing, you can say what you want to me, but you start doubting and talking sh*t about my family again, I'll f*cking find you and kill you! I REALLY hope I'v emade myself clear!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Firstly this is the link to the PENPAL people (that obviously don't exist)!!!

Secondly, I DIDN'T say it was TOM did i???? All I said was you CANNOT make me respect someone or somethinhg I have no faith in!

  17. Well well Matt, you are an intelligent human being aren't you? Tell me, when your daughter brings you a letter from "a little iraqi girl calle suphi", how do you go about explaining to her what gang rape is? Must be a challenging conversation to handle! I think, as a parent, I might question whether this is a suitable subject to be discussed in letters between two "little" girls. Did the school organise it? I bet the teachers were alarmed when they heard about the content!

Still, I must worry for your daughter anyway with a Dad who threatens to kill somebody because of an exchange on the internet. Do you consider that appropriate? I don't. I hope your language is also a little more restrained around your daughter. If I find out your address, I might refer it to Social Services.

  18. No link attached Matt. But that's not the link I asked for. Where is the link to the news report about the court case? That would have been all over the news wouldn't it? Google it and post the link.

By the way, I am an atheist but that does not stop me respecting the faith the others have in their God / Gods.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I'll get you the link, you little f*ckwit! Firstly it wasn't a letter, it was an email! Arranged through her school! And she knows NOTHING about what happed! She's SIX for f*ck sake! You REALLY are a stupid little man! The information was relayed tous via a COUNCELOR from the school! I have just found myself sitting here thinking why am I explaining myself to the vile little man??? I'll tell you what, you go f*ck yourslef, I owe YOU no explanation whatsoever! I have the facts, 2 disfusting Scottish troops were accused and found guilty of raping innocent people, and the daughter ofon eof those people was my daughters penpale, believe ot or don't believe it, I really don't give a flying f*ck! Now, listen, if you mention my daughter again, I'll rip your throat out! You are a pathetic piece of disgusting sh*t!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Story changed somewhat hasn't it Matt? Now who mentioned your daughter? Not me! Think you introduced her, didn't you? More disgusting language and threats I see, you are the one who needs to see a shrink mate.

Why are you explaining yourself? Let me take you back to your original claim that Tom does not exist. All that was required was an apology. But sadly you are not man enough to give one. You don't prove your manhood by making silly threats on the net do you?

    Grow up.

    ReplyDelete
  21. By the way Matt, what makes you think I am short?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Matt I could not publish your farewell rant due to the obscene language. I despair of people like you. You started all this by making a completely false assertion and have then failed to apologise. Instead you have fabricated a story that smears the soldiers risking their lives for our country. You are pathetic.

Matt you're still a twat. A very unpleasant one.

It's called a forum. As soon as you post on here, you invite comment, making it everyone's business. If you want people to know both sides of the story then tell it from the off.

I don't need 'counsellors' to tell me horror stories about war. Two of my best friends work for the UN and are both based in Baghdad.

Not that I expect someone like you to believe any of the above.

Incidentally, Tom didn't take the penalty, his kid did.
