The FA should have said enough is enough and slapped a life ban on the guy. The kick at Aguero, after he had been sent off, was utterly beyond the pale in itself, but Barton then compounded the crime by claiming on Twatter that he was deliberately trying to get a Man City player to retaliate in the hope of provoking a red card to "balance" things up. We talk of "professional fouls" but this has taken the unacceptable face of "professionalism" to a new all time low level.
The guy behaves like an animal when he loses his rag and he constitutes a danger to other players. There must be a screw loose somewhere because he is such a Jekyll and Hyde character, sometimes sounding intelligent and decent, and then returning to ugly type when something flips his switch.
Ban him for life is the only answer. The FA have bottled it so QPR should sack him and every other club should agree not to sign him.

sign him up sam i think he is fantastic much better than noble or nolan
He should be given a lengthy ban!
More importantly he has major anger
Managment issues that need to be delt with!
He should not be allowed to play again until he has undergone proper treatment paid for by himself!
I don't think the ban is long enough! He has major Anger Managment issues and he should not be allowed to play, at any level, until he has undergone a lengthy treatment and a doctor says he is better and all paid for by him.
TOP CLASS PLAYER GET HIM IN. IRONSSSSS
Awsome player. I recon 5 mil would get him
I agree we should sign joey up.Outstanding player dodgy man though
Id say no thanks but he is a world class midfielder
Spoke with Karen Brady about this and she does not want him.
Some of the people on here make me laugh, the way that they take the moral high ground. Lengthy ban! You must be joking, he hardly touched Tevez.
If someone elbowed you in the throat you would not get up 15 seconds later, you would be down for a long time. He was clearly attempting to get Tevez off his back, who after kicking him twice and throwing a punch, was quite obviously getting to him.
How on earth Tevez has not received a ban I don't know, the man is a cheat, rolling around the floor like he'd just been hit by a train, 15 seconds later, full recovery, amazing!
Jim Wicks, I'm quite sure if I kicked you and threw a punch, you would retaliate to defend yourself, most people would.
As for Joey Bartons Anger Management, why should he pay for it? He pays his taxes like everyone else, probably more than most people earn in 10 years. He has a right to treatment, because thats what he needs.
Uncontrollable anger is a mental illness and just like other people suffering from mental problems, he needs treatment for it. Who knows why he's like it, what happened to him when he was younger that makes him like it?
No, its Joey Barton, so unlike everyone else we will condemn him, ban him for life. Should have done the same to Billy Bonds, I saw him throw a few in his time, no of course not he's a West Ham hero.
I thought Karen Brady was at West Ham to balance the books? Now she is picking who plays for us! He is a very good player, and if anyone can deal with him then its "Big Sam".
Sign him Hammers, he would be a great player for us.

??? Are some of you on acid? Leave the nasty, vicious little f*cker where he is. Rangers would love someone to rid them of a man who is 20% ability 80% uncontrollable trouble. Let him stay Rangers problem.
Not that classy - and his semi-psychotic nasy side will always be a liability - just clock his twisted facial expression when he tries to have a go at the Manc players.
More of a liablity than the terminally stupid Repka and the fat boy Ruddock - you know that legendary 'West ham way' that they displayed. No more psychotics please, and certainly not Barton.
all you anons are fucking spastics
Never in the claret and blue, never.
Never in the claret and blue, never.
Most rssssss don't think poor Barton hf we think the man's a c**t never wanted him in the first place don't give a fuck where he goes as long as its as far away from us as possible he will never pull the hoops on again that's for sure though mate
Looks like the rest of your hammers don't agree with you hf take the prick you can have him for free
Whats the point of leaving a comment, left two reasonable comments 2 hrs ago, and nothing!
Alrighty Joey, good to have you looking in at 2007. What have you got on Lineker exactly?
fred149 you're just a berk
I suppose signing Di Canio on the cheap in similar circumstances was a big mistake then?
a 12 game ban is 1/3rd of the season, to me that is a huge ban for an alleged elbow, kneeing aguero in the ass, again he went down like he was shot, if barton did that to me in the street i would turn round and say wtf is your problem mate not go down like ive been shot and two nothing scuffles with kompany and balotelli, now where is the substance for the ban, the elbow was an elbow but the way tevez acted in the whole affair he was equally to blame, if found gulty its a 4 game ban, kneeing aguero again a 4 game ban, so i expected an 8 game ban, so for it to be 12 games, isn't that one of the longest ban in premiership history apart from drug bans, cantona kicking a fan in the face and di canio assaulting a ref (which was about as classy as barton i might add)
Anony-mouse says,
Not Fred- Nice try, but it's not the same.
Cos of what Paulo did to the ref, we got lucky and were able to get someone who otherwise we would never have been able to sign. The club obviously took a look and said yeah, we can handle him. And by and large they did. It was a gamble that paid off, but a gamble nonetheless.
Barton too has disgraced himself on the pitch, so that's your argument I suppose. But to my mind what he did was even worse- attacking one player then two others in an effort he claims to 'take one with him'. Is that really the sort of c*nt you want wearing our shirt? But that was just one in a long series of incidents where he has proved himself to be not just hard to control like Paulo was, but utterly out of control and nasty with it. He's done time for assault and should have done time for burning his own players eyes with cigarettes. He attacked another team mate. You may not have noticed but one of the features of this season is that our team spirit has been excellent, even when performances weren't. I can't imagine for a minute that Allardyce would risk upsetting that aspect that will be vital for us next season.
Paulo was a calculated gamble that paid off. Barton's not a gamble- it would end badly for him here just as it has for him with all of his previous clubs. So let's leave the scum where he is eh?
