'Arry was 'opping mad when Roeder replaced him at West Ham and talked of the difference between a manager and a coach, insisting a football coach had never won anything in the game. He was spot on with Roeder and the suspicion is that he will harbour the same opinion of green behind the ears AVB.
Quite why Levy thinks AVB will handle the Tottenham egos any better than he handled the Chelsea egos is beyond me. The guy was exposed as light weight at Stamford Bridge and he faces similar problems and temptations at Tottenham. The Spurs squad is beginning to crack apart at the seams and after a fantastic season under Redknapp, requires major reinvestment to repeat. Meanwhile, there's a reasonable crop of youngsters available who AVB will find more malleable and so easier to manage. If he tries to jettison experienced players too early, as at Chelsea, the knives will be out again.
If not the new Roeder, then AVB has all the makings of becoming the new Oneday Ramos - a big reputation abroad but lacking the necessary understanding of the British game to repeat the trick in the Prem.
The trouble is, AVB arrives with major question marks over him, even before the first ball is kicked. If Spurs come out of the blocks slowly, then God help him!
He's no Allardyce anyway....
ReplyDeleteOh to wear blinkers. Makes life so easy. So "The Spurs squad is beginning to crack apart at the seams and after a fantastic season under Redknapp"? First 3/4 of the season great-after Harry's hankering after England job-relegation for. Selective? Yes. Ill-informed and badly resarched? Yes. Got an agenda? Do Spurs fans respect your obsession with their club? No. Must be really boring having to comment on other clubs matters. Memo to yourself-must get out more often.
ReplyDeleteWest ham going down again this year defo u wanna worry about ur chairmans dodgy jackets lol
ReplyDeleteSpot on. He better start well...
ReplyDeleteFilled with question marks? Then why Is this article so negative? Doesn't sound like the author has any question marks about AVB. Also, John Terry, Drogba and Lampard are not in the Spurs squad so there is lots
ReplyDeleteOf promise for success.
Quality manager, needs time. Knobhead players at Chelsea didn't give him a chance. Bet he finishes above Chelsea
ReplyDeleteWest Han did not operate a continental system where the Chairman and appointed committee handle player recruitment and the coach just coaches. AVB is therefore in a totally different position to Roeder. He is used to that system where English "managers" aren't.
ReplyDeleteLol Spurs fans on the site. So precious they have to comment.
ReplyDeleteParanoid fans with good reason, AVB was a laughing stock last season and the same spurs fans laughing are now saying it's a good appointment, it's so sad and everyone sees through it.
Spurs are terrified of this going wrong and they all know (but won't admit) that they would've laughed their a*ses off had Arsenal appointed him
Top 10 at best for them this year, we'll get at least 4pts from them (as we did when we had Grant in charge a worse team and they had Modric).
Great .. Back where they belong . In the sh 1 T. Shame about Harry the Crook though . Was looking forward to watching him try and withdraw the cash in his dogs account !!
ReplyDeleteWhat on earth are you doing putting a Tottingham Hotspud article on a Leeds United website?
ReplyDeleteYou really have gone crazy, mate!!
