So Burnley are running away with the Championship. Interesting. And according to Leeds and QPR fans who respond to this blog, West Ham are heading for the drop. Interesting again. Well, on the basis of last night's game, there's not much point in any side winning promotion from this season's Championship then because the gulf to the Prem is patently huge!
West Ham took to the field just 48 hours after playing Swansea. A combination of reserves and kids were selected. The management had precious little time to prepare, with a journey from Swansea to London and London to Burnley involved in completing the back to back fixtures. The West Ham team included Potts, Chambers and Ruddock, three young kids. There were nine changes from the starting 11 against Swansea and both Diame and Tomkins, the two retained, were substituted to save their legs. And West Ham utterly dominated the second 45 minutes.
It's true that two penalties were required but both penalties were conceded to prevent goals being scored, and the referee was kind to the Clarets when producing only one red card. In the twenty minutes building to the first goal, poor Burnley could not get the ball, chasing shadows to such an extent that you would think West Ham's stiffs were Barcelona. So how the hell are Burnley top of the division?
From a West Ham perspective, it was all very pleasing. The three kids look good and may well have a future. Maiga didn't look out of his depth - perhaps THIS is his level. Collison and Downing combined well when brought on. Adrain looked our best understudy keeper for a few seasons now. And there's the consolation that if we were to go down, even selling the major wage earners, we should storm the Championship!
As for QPR, Leeds and co - God help them if they do get up! Because, like Burnley, they will then find out what the Premiership is really about!

So the whole point of this article is to mention Leeds alongside QPR, therefore getting responses to a blog that would otherwise have been ignored.
Such a pitiful effort H F...You are getting more and more pathetic
U obviously didnt see the match cockney boy.i have a mate, who unnfortunately is a burnley fan,who went to the match.he said burnley dominated, but could not score.yes there is a gulf in class, but u only have to look at southampton.since they have beenin the prem, they have got better each year.depends who u buy.
you've possibly never been to burnley but I would suggest you don't bother. Tools like you get found out very quickly, which is why you stay at home mostly isn't it - you fucking tool. however long you spent writing your piece of ill-informed shite, your non-attending identity shines through, you armchair typist, bullshit generating fucking turd
and also - urinate on clarets is a bit insulting, like calling you a fucking turd, which is insulting, but more accurate
you fucking arse of what? The non-attending chatterati?
I agree lufc would need at least 20 million to even stay up the parachute payments should be stopped that's after the investment to get there in the first place, but the southern softies miss us big time! We are like an ex girlfriend always in the back of your mind until we get it on again ! Mot
Leeds will be able to compete with the Premier League because we're geared and set up for it. Our facilities and fan base is larger worldwide than West Ham and one of our directors are in talks with Fluminense chairman, something only West Ham could dream about. we'll be back in the premier league soon and don't worry about us when we do - I'd advise you to just focus on trying to keep your heads above water.
Quite a wind up, HF. The comments are going to be a lot of fun.
Why have you changed the title you strange man?

Er...leaving aside that the ball was clearly played by the defender for the first penalty, so no foul was committed, and that the foul was committed at an acute angle with about 4 players between the ball and goal, I'd suggest your comment re: the first penalty is patent nonsense.
As for the 20 minutes before that- strange, I could have sworn that Burnley had the ball enough in that period to hit the crossbar.
Burnley were the better team in the first half - now that really was a time when one team were chasing shadows - West Ham the better in the second half. You might also want to mention that Burnley made 5 changes from their first choice X1, including an entire midfield 4. It was a game in which the first goal was always going to be crucial, and WHU got the break of luck to get it.
Fair play, and good luck to you, but a bit of grace in reflecting on the game wouldn't go amiss.
Do you know anything whatsoever about football?
Did you watch the same game last night?
Maiga was non-existant for the whole game for a start.
You needed Collison, Nolan and Downing to come on to rescue the game, which by the way you only managed through a dubious first penalty.
First 45 minutes we dominated, forcing your keeper into at least three quality saves. I agree that second 45 minutes you were largely the better team, and whilst you had a lot of possession our keeer wasn't tested once (excluding the penalties). Do remember though we also struck the bar from a free-kick and caused a few problems from other set pieces.
We had 5 players missing from our starting 11 against QPR, and considering the size of our club/squad, our reserves aren't quite as capable replacements.
Funny, the stats here don't seem to indicate any dominance...
