Team For Tonight
Birmingham will be looking to suffocate the play, filling up the midfield and hitting us on the break. If Zola tries to play through the middle, we will lose. It is time to open up the flanks and throw caution to the wind.
My team for tonight would read: Green: Spector, Tomkins, Upson, Ilunga: Faubert, Parker, Diamanti, Daprella; Ilan and Cole
I have gone for Faubert wide on the right because he has looked our most likely supply line in recent games; let's push him forward and urge him to attack the full back and whip in crosses. Daprella wide on the left because he is naturally left footed and can fill in for Ilunga if the full back ranges forward. Diamanti in centre midfield because I want him picking up the ball when it is headed clear from crosses. I also want him to dictate the place from a more central role. Parker will have to be disciplined and hold, hold, hold all night. Up front, Ilan looks the best of the three to me and most suited to play alongside Cole, although if Franco is ready, I'd be happy to see him back. That team has goals in it; that team could win. But will Zola pick it?
I doubt it!

I'd agree with your selection, except that Daprella is injured!
In that case, I'd put Collison or Stanislas on the left wing instead...I really would like Faubert to play in right mid..he'll make quite an impact..I think Spector will do alright because Faubert's got pace and will support him.
no spector is the weak link in our linw up and ilunga has been poor all season
green
behrami tomkins upson daprela
faubert parker collison diamanti
cole ilan
that wud be my best line up that cud win
Good team HF but doubt Zola would throw Daprela in on the wing in such an important game when he has hardly played him in his usual position of left back. Agree with Julien on the right. Fred's team looks good...maybe start Mido with Cole.
Green
Faubert Tomkins Upson Spector
Stanislas Parker Behrami Diamanti
Cole Mido
We all know Spector isn't great, but he hasn't been at fault for anything during his run in the team. Faubert has improved this season but 9 times out of 10 his crosses are either overhit or blocked by the first defended, which isn't good enough for a winger. Noble & Collison have both been poor for a while now, so it's time for them to be rested.
I really think it's unlikely that Daprela will come in. He's back in training, but Zola will pick Da Costa and Spector before him on the bench.
If we do not pick Stanislas tonight i'm going to chuck myself down the cellar stairs! As for Daprella on the wing lool, no way will that happen or do I want it to happen. In a game of such importance to put a kid on his premier league debut in a position that is alien to him would be ludacris.
Lets go absolutely mental with a 433 with Ilan and Mido feeding off Coley.
COYI!
If Deprela is injured the discussion is academic anyway, but I understood that, when we signed him, he was termed a left back / left midfielder. He has pace, is left footed and has scored a "wonder goal". Playing him on the left of midfield is less risky than playing him at left back. Zola used him against Arsenal, so why not Birmingham?
come on u irons 3.0 to night.
