Collison Out For Season.
Collison has been ruled out for the rest of the season apparently, needing another operation on that troublesome knee. I fear that poor Carlton also needs an op and is being unfairly criticised for risking his World Cup place by playing through pain. He is definitely not moving with complete freedom and is regularly clutching at that knee after a strong challenge. Being Scouse Cheats, to nearly quote Ferguson, I wouldn't be surprised to see Carragher and co "testing" that knee with a few well directed kicks next Monday!
There's still no news on Ilunga. What's going on there then? Nor on Diamanti. After the poor showing of Stanislas against Sunderland, we could do with both Ilunga and Diamanti returning for the Liverpool game. There is no way that Diamanti will start on the left for as long as Spector is at left back, so to see the mercurial Italian again, we need Ilunga back.
On the subject of Collison, this may be good news in the long run. It would explain why the lad's form dipped (added to the death of his father) and offers the hope that he will "come again" next season. Last year he looked a special talent, this year he has looked run of the mill. Hopefully an op on that knee and an extended rest will get him back to his best.
Come On You Where Are Ilunga And Diamanti Irons!

What is the deal with Diamanti? Has he had a row with Zola? There is no news on him and he isn't injured so something must be up!
Now we are into supposition mate, and following a detective trail. He was on the bench for the Sunderland game I believe, although due to travel problems I arrived too late to see the warm up and only heard the subs listed once. I thought I heard Diamanti's name. If he was on the bench, he certainly was not used. Was he injured but named as an emergency replacement due to all the other injuries? I don't know. There was no news of him being injured for the Everton game until the day of the game, but he didn't even feature on the sub's bench.
For the truth, we may need to look to Ilan's comments about Italian speakers being out of control. That suggested to me a bust up, with Diamanti and Daprela the probable antogonists, Diamanti because he was taking flack for not protecting Spector and Daprela because he wasn't getting in ahead of Spector despite doing nothing obviously wrong. Was there a flare up on the training field? Did Diamanti refuse to travel to Everton (aka Di Canio)? No idea but, as you say, there is a whiff about all this. That would explain why Noble was quoted saying that we were a united camp. Why was that necessary, unless cracks had opened?
Alternatively, Diamanti may be carrying an injury. The trouble is, despite the supposed new openness, we know we are not being told the whole truth. Was Mido injured for the Sunderland game or dropped? Is Tomkins physically injured or mentally shot to pieces? Is Cole fully fit or still feeling that knee? What is going on with Ilunga? What about McCarthy? Is he the fat slob he looks or is that just an optical illusion? Questions, questions, questions. The OS should open an "Any Questions" service for season ticket holders (including mini season ticket holders)!
Are you gonna keep up this amazing support for the hammers and purcahse a real season ticket next season hammers fan??? I will no matter what league we are in.
Will you? Good on you. It depends on my work commitments and family holiday plans to be honest. I miss the opening games of the season for sure and may be away over the Christmas and Easter periods next season. I will have to check my diary. It is easier for some to commit to going to enough home games to make a season ticket viable. I would like to and, to that end, I am writing to Sullivan outlining some alternative packaging for season tickets to help people like myself. The mini season ticket worked for me because I could get to all the games involved. I will blog a copy of the letter I am sending to Sullivan, we will see what comes of it. If Sullivan replies, I will post his response, even if it is, "Go away you pillock!"
We all have families and work commitments so that s no excuse. 19 games a season is not a lot when there is 365 days in a year im sure you would be allowed out for the day. Even if you miss a game or two you could pass the ticket over to a family member or a friend if you have any?
It may well be that I would have to give away 2 tickets for 8 or 10 of the games. On the basis it would not be practical. It really does depend on your work and family commitments. If you have a Monday to Friday job it is much easier. If work involves weekend commitments, it becomes more tricky. It will also depend on my son who may well be working at the weekend next season, being a 17 year old student. He is hoping to find Sunday work, but that would knock out any Sunday fixtures on top of my commitments. As I've said, I am keen to get to as many games as possible but some lives are more complicated than others.
Perhaps Diamanti's purchase involved a clause (is that how you spell it?) whereby we pay extra if he gets to a certain number of games/goals.
If that's the case, and the rumours that Sullivan and Gold don't really fancy him as a player are true, then they're not going to splash out any more. They'll just sell him at the end of the season and recoup some of what was paid for him.
To be fair, he's not really all that good. Just stands out as something different from all the other very similar midfielders we have. Give me a Berkovic or a Benayoun any day of the week.
Interesting idea J78, but then why play him at Old Trafford?
Sullivan and Gold don't really fancy him but earmarked Mido as buy of the season YEAH RIGHT!
Diamanti has a problematic hip FYI.
Zola was a big part in him coming here, he's not fallen out with him.
Jack is in Dubai recovering from Knee surgery and taking some time out to reflect as he never did this following the tragic death of his father.
Thanks Scott. Problematic hip? Didn't Di Canio suffer from that a lot? Came on over Easter if we had away games up north I seem to remember.
