You have to laugh! Once upon a time, we heard nothing from the powers that be at West Ham. It was as if we, the fans, didn't matter. There was no need to inform us, we were just a bunch of East End Pikies who probably wouldn't be able to read a press release even if one was issued. Brown was aloof. Deals were done in smoke filled rooms and the first we knew about the comings and, mostly, goings, was when a player appeared in an opposition kit, or, immediately after signing for us, reported to the treatment room and booked an appointment with a financial adviser to discuss early retirement. Remember how we learnt, on Sky Sports News, that West Ham had signed Tevez and Mascherano and everybody thought the news team had got it wrong? Liverpool perhaps? Man Utd maybe? Tottenham possibly? But West Ham? Well, of course, our instincts were right and we hadn't signed them - but that was Brown's and Duxbury's little secret and, never mind us, they didn't share it with the FA or Premier League either!
Then along came Eggert and a new era of openness - open your mouth, open the cheque book, openly invite every other club to jack their valuations up five million as soon as the receptionist reported that West Ham were on the phone, even open your bottom cheeks and bite the cushion as every club in the land rushed to join the queue to take advantage of us.
Then came the era of Duxbury! Now we were told everything - with one small reservation, everything we were told was untrue! Duxbury embraced the media and gave them what they wanted - enough bullshit to fill an entire football supplement. He even embraced the blogs and fed them crap, buying the support of KUMB and Dale by massaging the egos of their editors. So what that Duxbury was shafting them? From Dale's point of view, that was a positive advantage! The only way of getting to the truth now was to listen to what Duxbury said, and assume the exact opposite. Looking forward to Ashton leading the line? He wasn't going to play again then. None of our players will be sold in January? That's goodbye to Bellyache then. The club do not need to sell anybody? That's Collins off to Villa! The club is not close to financial meltdown? Hello to the Davids and a package to avoid financial Armageddon!
But where is the centre of gravity now? At least we kind of knew where we stood before, even if it was, under Brown, completely in the dark! Now Gold says one thing one day and Sullivan the complete opposite the next! Is Zola staying or going? Are we a buying or selling club? None of us know.
Interesting days lie ahead. The Davids have cleverly constructed a maze and we are going to find it bloody difficult to puzzle our way through it!

if zola doesnt want anything to do with the transfers. then why are we trying to bye players now. west ham must be talking to their future manager now. otherwise when the new manager comes in. he might not want this players we bring in already. seems weird that we would bring players to the club without a new manager telling gold and sullivan wat he wants.
Maybe all this confusion is their attempt to try and get the manager to resign.
On one hand they both have said that Zola may leave at the end of the season, and then they say that they have not spoken to any other managerial candidate. They're lying.

I fucking love the 2 davids. West ham fans sticking up for west ham and trying to take us forward in a sensible manor. They have saved the club big time and without them we would have been relegated and in time end up like pompey in admin. Thanks boys this fan truely is a fan of yours and very grateful. with always been a big club with a massive fanbase. but with no ambition. hopefully that will change now. with 2 west ham fans in charge of the club and more investment. plus a new 60 thousand stadium.
i think we never should've got rid of dithers (despite the odd bit of hesitation) or ginge. Be nice to think there's a chance of a return but i don't think even matty would bet on it. We should try to keep hold of green and i think da costa n faubert were digging in well but we've only gotta shift mido, franco, dyer and boa. Behrami may come good next season. It is good to have fans at the helm, they can get on with the plan now we're staying up

I am not very happy with the statement "everyone is up for sale bar Scottie". The team had its problems last year but this was not because we had no talent in the team. It was down to bad selections and tactics really. And also I may add, because we did not buy the right players at key positions (e.g. full backs and fast wing players). But to suggest that the whole team is up for sale is to say the least suspect. It is designed to minimise reaction to a possible fire sale of players. Given a better manager and the purchase of very few new ones in key positions West Ham should challenge for Europe next year. You can't demolish everything on the excuse that the year was below expectations. Diamanti, Behrami, Da Costa and a few others are good players that we should not be in a rush to get rid off. I don't know what is going on, but I will judge the 2Ds by what they do, not what they say. In any case, what they say is always unclear as one says one thing and the other another!
Stani Army...depending on which media sources you believe, apparently Mr Sullivan is in charge of who comes and who goes. Allegedly, he has already contacted Diamanti's agent and suggested he find the player another club!
Sav...I agree with you that the two Davids' actions should speak louder than their words! Various quotes attributed to one or the other during this past week seem to have created an image of autocrat and diplomat...not hard to see which is which?! DG was even quoted as saying that they'd use their own money to bring quality players in rather than increase the club's debt! I like him...nice chap!
Did anyone see the Sky interview with Karen Brady...referring to our beloved West Ham as 'the business'?! She was back-slapping herself as usual and guffawing at how much she's chopped off the debt in such little time by offloading all those staff who haven't contributed towards the day-to-day operational efficiency or kept the club in the Premier League! 'Have they been sacked?!' she was asked. 'They've gawn' she replied.
We have stayed up. Without the D's cash in January we probably would have been relagated. Without the D's, we could now be ending up in receivership. I think Sullivan's 'everyone is for sale bar Parker' jibe was an effort to get the ten palayers other than him to try hard in the last two games of the season rather than sit back and take it easy. Lets face it another 6 points could well push us up a few positions in the league and create a bit more cash off the debt. Personally I would rather hear from the chairman about what is going on than hear nothing at all. At least it helps to keep this blog thriving.
But would it have the positive effect you suggest John. If you were Cole, might you not think, take it easy, try to avoid injury, I'm not going to be here anyway?
