Sullivan & Gold To Build Statues Of Heroes Of Great Escape Mark Two

If West Ham escape the drop this season, new owners David Sullivan and David Gold are planning to build a statue to the heroes of the "Great Escape Mark Two".

A spokesman for the club said: "We have a statue to the heroes of 66 and Mr Sullivan and Mr Gold feel that this has set a precedent. A spot has been identified outside the Queens Fish Bar on Green Street. A planning application has been submitted in anticipation of the club beating the drop and an artist has been commissioned".

Just as with the 66 statue, the "Hammers Heroes Of 2010" will feature a cluster of those most responsible for securing our "Great Escape from Armageddon": Ian Dowie, Brian Laws and Al Faraj!

I think someone will have to find out what Al-Faraj looks like first HF!

Just imagine the horror of a statue of Dowie. Little children would have to be blindfolded before leaving Upton Park tube!

So do I. Great fish, wonderful chips, very fair prices and a superbly efficient service. The pictures on the wall at the rear of the shop are good too. Deserves an award!
