West Ham Team v Everton

Zola learnt nothing from the Stoke game it seems. No pace down the right flank - we have Noble there to allow back Kovac. Up front that goal machine Mido starts. I proposed a five man midfield with Diamanti in the hole but Zola knows best. Apart from Cole, where does he think the goals are going to come from? Kovac, Parker, Behrami and Noble in midfield? Moyes will be terrified!

Team: Green: Faubert, Da Costa, Upson, Spector; Noble, Kovac, Parker, Behrami; Mido, Cole.

Let's all pray!

Stanislas replaced Behrami! Behrami's injured! Wow! ..Stanislas is finally playing..but on the wrong flank...KJFKDFJLSJKFLHJSD.

I would have played 4-5-1..

Green, Spector, Upson, Da Costa, Daprela, Faubert on the RIGHT, Stanislas/Diamanti (assuming he's injured) on the left, Kovac, Noble, Parker in mid field, and Cole up front.. it's not that hard, Zola!

That would have been more effective against Everton. Piennar, Saha, and Cahill are going to be dancing around us today.

Stan on the right HF, and two big blokes in the middle. Let's hope we see some early crosses in!

Upson goes to sleep. Another major error from him

I don't consider myself to be a great footalling mind. But when I saw the team selection, I questioned why Spector was selected ahead of Daprela and why Mido was selected ahead of any just about anyone! You guys who keep saying let's give poor Zola more time, can you please explain to me why is Zola just about the only one who can't see how unsuitable these two players are? Spector is prone to errors (e.g. his brilliant header in the box leading to the Everton goal) and is very slow and as for Mido, he is well passed it, he is not moving and he is too casual. Next to Cole we need someone with pace and sharpness. Surely, Mido does not fit the bill. Zola just doesn't get it. It is like he is putting his chips on the same numbers on the roullete table and just hoping that his luck will change. Only football is not a casino. We need someone who understands how to build a winning team. Zola should be sacked, whatever the cost.

ZOLA needs to be told to go,for the sake of the club because the guy is absolutely clueless in managing a club. Our game play has no style,we lack width,no crosses going into the box,we have no pace ,no creativity,it is all abysmal.........go please ZOLA go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What on earth does Zola think he is doing?

The only way we will get anything from this game is to put Diamanti in the hole & sub mido for anyone with some pace.

Zola out!

What a difference an hour makes eh lads?

Players not behind Zola HF? :)

Let's hope people give the manager credit today like they bust his balls when we lose. I won't hold my breath though.

COYI!!!!!!

Ilan should start in place of Mido and Daprela in place of Spector. A miracle could have happenned today if only Zola selected the right team. Still, we should try and build on that! COYI !!!

LOL Love the range of comments on here! The agony of being a football fan. Wait for it Stani, wait for it...will I credit Zola?

You better HF....I'm on the phone to Dale as we speak

Sav,
Enjoy what you saw today mate, just enjoy it.

I am enjoying it! I think we all deserved a break. Just note however that our two goal scorers today were not being selected for so long by Zola. Tomkins being preferred to Da Costa despite repeated bad performances by TT and Ilan the same (being behind Mido and Mcarthy). Also, I should point out that what made the big difference today was the pace of Stanislas which we didn't have in so many previous team selections. So, I still think that we drew despite of Zola today. In fact, I do believe we could have won if Ilan and Daprela were selected in the team instead of Spector and Mido. But still, I am enjoying the fact we havn't lost after such a long time. Hope that this point will count at the end.

Remarkable Sav, read my match report! Of course Stani will read things differently!

Actually, I've been harping on about Da Costa in place of Tomkins and it was Ilan that HF was dissing not so long ago.

I would even drop Upson for Gabbidon but you will never agree to that.

The goal was more Upson's mistake than Spector's. He left his man free in the six yard box. Spector's header went up in the air and Upson stood there looking at it. Unbelievable. Spector has played well the last few games, as HF has said before. I would have still gone with Deprela at left back though.

Savvakis said...

HF,I was tempted to respond to your comment by saying "great minds think alike", but if it really took something great to select a team, I could have excused Zola for not seeing the obvious. In fact, I recommend that the Davids should allow you to pick the team next week (in your other article) because you see the obvious while Zola has proven time and again that he doesn't. I hope we'll stay up with or without Zola. As you say, should probably walk at the end of the year whatever happens.

Hammersfan said...

I know it is Easter Sav, but if I picked the team and we lost, I would have to crucify myself on here!

Stani, you are being silly trying to shift the blame for that goal away from Spector. Upson would never have come into play has Spector headed the ball away from goal rather than across goal!

Stani Army said...

I'm being "silly"? Watch the goal again and if you do not see Upson day dreaming and losing his marker whilst the ball is in the air then I'm afraid I cannot do anything for you.

"Upson would never have come into play has Spector headed the ball away from goal rather than across goal!" How are you so certain of that? The situation was still recoverable. He's an international, our captain, but he goes to sleep in the six yard box. Who is to blame?

Hammersfan said...

Stani, stop it. Had Spector headed the ball behind for a corner or out for a throw, the phase of play would have ended. You know that.

Stani Army said...

Do we know if they would have scored from the resulting corner? All ifs HF. You would have then said that Spector should have headed it out. I'm not trying to defend him; he wouldn't have been in my starting team (see my last one), but Upson was far more to blame for that goal.

All I do know is until the ball crosses the line, it is defendable, and Upson's dozing off gave him no chance. At least Spector had a go at clearing. No one should get a free header inside the six yard box.

I think you should put a post up about our fans at Goodison, they were exceptional. Even when we went behind twice. Highlight the fact that such a recovery probably would have been difficult at home because of the pressure. I would but got a bit on.

Hammersfan said...

They were brilliant. You write it, I'll post it. I'm not great with eulogies!

...I could never have guessed :)
