Gudjohnsen for West Ham

Here we go again! How many times have we been linked with the guy? And for how many years now has he been 3o years old?

Pompey, Tootatthem and ourselves are all apparently chasing Gudjohnsen, but why? I have no Eider! I reckon he would be another Ljungberg, looking for semi-retirement on a nice fat pension scheme.

To my mind, the guy was never much better than average. He is one of those, jack of all trades, master of none sort of players to my mind. Up front? Midfield? In the hole? He does a job but he has never got me sitting on the edge of my seat, I've never seen him as a player with the wow factor.

He might not cost much in transfer fees but his wages will be prohibitive, especially if Green and co all decide they want parity! He is at least 30, going on 34 probably! Let Arry's wife go to Iceland this time, I don't want him!

Average?

He's an excellent player mate.

Would be a great signing.

Another Ljungberg? Nah he's much better and still in his prime unlike Ljungberg who is injury prone and not the player he was.

World class player

LOL You Tube videos! I could put together 5 minutes of my career that makes me look like Ronaldo. Remember the You Tube video of Faubert? There's a new one showing him sat on his fat arse on the Real Madrid bench and falling asleep. Highlight of his career apparently!

When he left Chelsea, Chelsea were champions.

They have not won the prem since he left.

its actually unbelievable how much shite you post...every single one it utter crap, i wonder if you do it to get a reaction.surely one person cant be thins clueless.

You have issues mate. Don't read it then, nobody makes you.

Ask any Chelsea fan. He'll tell you he's class act and that they have missed him.

No disrespect but it seems you are not a good player judge.

Average? FFS

Hammersfan said...

If he's that good, why don't Barca use him? Why don't Chelsea want him if they miss him so much? Why aren't Liverpool or Man Utd trying to sign him? Or Wenger? Why isn't Jose trying to take him to Inter? West Ham, Tootatthem and Pompey - hmmmmmm. When a thoroughbred goes over the top it is sent to the knackers yard. Let 'Arry ave im!

If you would have done a research before you made this article it would be different, you would've wanted him at West Ham also you would have seen that Lyon are interested

Barca used him yesterday for the full 90 minutes vs Deportivo.

Again if you would have made any research you wouldn't have posted that last post of yours.

LOL French football! Didn't Lyon want Faubert? Didn't he look good in France?

And didn't the Mancs play their reserves once the title was won? How many games has Eider played this season? 11 isn't it? Did he play in the Champions League semifinals and final? Er no!

That doesn't make him an average player does it?

Hleb has been behind him this season in the pecking order. Is Hleb an average player?

Henry, Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Eto'o etc. etc.

He was back-up for all of'em if any of them got injured.

Average player would not be back up for them mate

Hammersfan said...

One year older and Barca not falling over themselves to keep him as a back up even. Wages would be huge. I say again, think of Ljungberg.

Anonymous said...

I'm not gonna argue with you about this anymore.

But will say again, Ljungberg and him at the peak, he was the better player, much better.

He is not injury prone like Ljungberg, is still in good shape, Zola and Clarke know him well too..

He would be an excellent signing.

You'll see, well if we sign him.

Eidur is a Grand Cru Class player.

Not playing all games ? Competing with Xavi, Iniesta.. etc. All those players are the best players in the world. I think Eidur was involvoved directly in almost 40% of Barca games. And was in the 18 players squad 98% of the season. How many of our players can beat that ?

hello mate, im a spurs fan and i know i have no right to comment but i look in on your blog every so often mainly out of boredom but there is the odd funny thing on there.
anyway, too say he is an average player i believe your wrong. they are probably the best team in the world at the moment and he has probably made about 20appearances in all comps, most as sub i know but can you honestly say carlton cole or di micheele (sorry dunno spelling) would get in the barca squad. plus a premiership winner with chelsea proves that he would be an excellent signing for any club apart from the top 4.

To the Spurs fan, visit as often as you like mate. Personally, I hope you lot get Eider!

I take all the points. I'm not saying that the guy is crap, just that I don't think he would be a good signing. How many "quality" players have West Ham signed in their 30s who have "done brilliant" for us? I can remember lots of Tristans and Ljungbergs over the years sadly. I'd much rather find a new Behrami than take on somebody moving into the last years of his career. I may be wrong, only time will tell. But remember, as Freddie showed, agree high wages for one old timer and it doesn't end there, it becomes a bench mark. We are in financial trouble already; should we take the risk for Eider? I don't think he is special enough for that personally!

Cor blimey! You're up early. Have a restless night did we? :-D

Eider was an OKish player because oh his fantastic fitness and work rate. As you say though, no-one quite knew what his best position was but maybe versatility is not all bad. Having spent several years in the sunshine, playing the occasional game surrounded by Barca's class acts, I can't see him being a good investment at the wages he would expect. Having said that I'd rather pay Eider £55k pw than Lucas Neill! He could just be a foil for Cole and Deano but more likely he'll end up being a cheap option that like Ljungberg ends up costing us a fortune.

His experience and undoubted ability would be welcome. Also, his age might not be such a big factor as with Freddie L because Ljungberg relied on pace that Gudjohnsen has never had. He has a good football brain and is a 'classic' West Ham player. Been great, still ok, on the way down. For me, I would say 'no' for two reasons. 1- His wages will be enormous and I'd rather spend that kind of cash on a player in their prime. 2- He has real issues with gambling and I don't feel that kind of influence is suitable in a young dressing room.

Hammers fan I'd have him and offload Deano. My old man lives out in Spain and the local expats and have an affliation with Barcalona, they reckon He is still a top player and by getting rid of 'Did he fall over' and the 'bloke in lead boots' most of his wages would be there straight away. He can play as an attacking midfilder, an area we are weak in, and as an out and out centre forward. Go get him GFZ.
