Cole Dropped! Or Rested! Zola's Last Throw Of The Dice?
My God, Zola has thrown the baby out with the dish water. Is he risking a fine, throwing the game against Chelsea with more winable games in mind, or has he come up with a new masterplan? Today's team is odd at first glance - with no Diamanti or Cole - but it may be that Zola has built a team with the opposition in mind at long last. Maybe.
Out goes Tomkins - so Zola is willing to drop a player based on poor performances. In comes Daprela at left back, meaning his first two appearances at senior level will have been against Arsenal and Chelsea - talk about a baptism of fire! Gabbidon is back and so is Dyer; whilst up front we have Mido and Ilan!
Resting key players? Well why is Parker is there? One more booking means another suspension for him.
Is this muddled thinking? If Ilan is good enough, why was he ignored last week? What happens if we win a free kick just outside the box? Do we hastily send on Diamanti? Have the local A&E Department been warned in advance with both Dyer and Gabbidon starting?
It is going to be interesting to see what happens! Is this Zola's last throw of the dice?
