RIP Stan Burke

Very sad to read that former Academy kit man and coach driver Stan Burke has passed away after a stroke. Stan served the club for more than 40 years, starting his employment under the great Ron Greenwood.

I am sure all true West Ham fans will offer sincere condolences to the family of a man who served the club for so long. Ron, John and Bobby are probably throwing a "You took your time" party for him as we speak.

Another link to our Glorious Past lost to this mortal coil!

Oh, the irony.
You couldn't make it up! Could you?

40 years service. Good that the club offered an acknowledgement and tribute.

Why should be we offer anyone condolences when you wouldnt extend the same to Parker because you were so desperate to scream against the tide. Fickle and pathetic.

Are you saying we shouldn't offer condolences after this guy worked, unheralded, for 40 yers for the club, probably earning over that entire time less than half of what Parker earns in a season? Are you heartless man?

I don't think their is anything wrong with Fanno's post whatsoever.Ever since the happy hooker Diana ala 'Princess' passsed away away we've adopted a culture of 'pouring' out our emotions almost fainting &weeping at any chance possible ,all we need is for these wannabe Billy Graham Born again Tele -Evangelist to conduct the 'show'.It's got that bad that some do conform to this little pantomine by feeling pressurised into doing so,because if they don't they're labelled heartless bastards.I was MOST impressed by Parker playing the next day he showed the old bulldog spirit that won TWO world wars ,he got on with the job!,no fuss !,no show!.I fully respect Mrs Pat Lampard as she was one of us till the end &yes NO problem with Frank raising his hands to the sky after scoring a goal in the first game after his Mums death, but to carry on doing it a month later ?,nauseating in the extreme.Fanno also questions what our reaction would of been towards Parker if he had signed for Spurs in the January transfer window, yes their would of been R.I.P 's Mick Parker as we're a respectful lot, some would of held grudges &said nothing ...but their would of been less of the adopt the happy hooker approach .Grief is best expressed privately &personally...but as i said in the beginning Scott Parker by getting on with the job, proved that he is a real man...&i RESPECT him for that. We're more than a football club,we're a way of life,COYI !

I am not sure if some can grasp this. Stan Burke gave 40 years service to the club and the club ran an article about his passing away on the OS. Mick Parker NEVER worked for the club and the OS did not bring his death into the public domain.

God you are so petty - I can just imagine how your poor wife is a nervous wreck from all the years of being dominated and bullied by you.
