Allardyce confirms his priorities as John signs.

So there you have it, straight from the horse's mouth. Confirming why he signed George John, an uncapped American defender - and even Spector has 31 caps for the Not Stars and Stripes remember and is only a year older - Doctor Evil explained that he is a defender who has "the right stature and the right ability and the right ambition who sees his future in this country".

In other words, he is a big bastard who isn't totally hopeless and who was available on the cheap. Who next? Well there's a not so nippy Jap who fancies putting the maximum distance between himself and a leaking nuclear reactor apparently. If he signs Allardyce will tell us, "He's a forward, he's big for a Jap, and he hasn't got two heads...yet."

You think joking about the earthquakes is funny?

Child eating crocodiles, tsunamis, terrorism, Nazis...Have you seen "Three Lions"? Or "Allo Allo"? The real joke is that we are signing players from America and Japan! We were promised Beckham and end up with John! "Ullo John, gotta new motor?"

Climb back up the phoney PC arse you climbed out of! Oops, now you will be referring me to Stonewall!

Nearly all of big sams signings have been a success (apart from carew). I have faith in sams choices. Quality manager who will get us out of this league any way possible. In sam we trust even if we are a bit bored.

You are joking! Demel? A success? Taylor? Another sicknote. O'Brien? Average. Baldock? Proved nothing yet. Carew? Hopeless. Bentley? Shit then injured. Lansbury? Average, then injured, then shit. Diop? A lump. Montenegro? He won't play him! Nolan? Looks a shadow of his old self and Newcastle fans are convinced Pardew saw Allardyce coming! McCartney? Average. Faye has done well. Compare Pardew's transfer business to Allardyce's!

To make it even more interesting for you, he seems to be a Greek American! Now there's the connection with the motherland I always wanted. If only he could follow in the footsteps of Stan Lazarides...

I should rename the thread, "Our Big Fat Greek Wedding"!

The way we do it over here is much different. You may think his experience is low for a 24 yr old but take into the fact the mans got a degree. We focus on education as well as athletics. I'd be careful what u say about your cousins skills cause it was the same cousins team that tied you in the world cup.

As much as I agree that its a gamble/dodgy signing I think you're review of current signings by Big Sam is harsh. Baldock- what more do you want! (apart from the penalty miss,) O'Brien. You complained about Faubert at right back, and one silly sending off is all Joey's done wrong. Diop- solid. Lansbury- arguably our most creative player before injury. Bentley- did he even get a start before injury!? (FYI i dont think bentley was a sick note signing like dyer- he was just unlucky.)

Basically I just think you're over critical of the team. I agree we need to strengthen, and big Sams tactics arent my favourite either. but could it be worse............remember last season HF!? (ps. carew is awful)

0034, I can't see any difference to last season personally - except last season, when we played against teams outside the Prem, we had a 100% record! Remember our Cup runs last season?

Are you aware what has happened over the last SEVEN games?

FC Dallas fan wanting to congratulate your club on a shrewd bit of business. George John is very strong in the air, usually positions himself well with the rest of the defense, and rarely gets beaten by an attacker. His main weakness is sometimes slow decision-making in his distribution. Very rarely does this have disastrous consequences, but it is an opportunity for improvement.
Be patient with him for a couple weeks, as he's in preseason form (MLS season ended in October) trying to jump right into a promotion race.

Have had enough of Sam and his bulls***. This man is tearing our club apart. We do not look like a promotion winning side, despite still having a premier league squad! useless!
