Why? Why would any club appoint Steve Clarke as manager? Mr Cones & Bibs played a leading role alongside Zola in transforming West Ham from a top 10 team into relegation fodder, and then linked up with Dalglish to turn Liverpool into the most expensive mid table team in the history of football.

How old is the guy? And has he ever been number one? And why might that be exactly?

If I was a Baggie I would be very worried indeed at the prospect of Clarke taking charge. His record at Chelsea looks good but with the money available, you would have to be a complete tit not to succeed. And let's face it, a certain Jose Murinho had a little bit more to do with the success than Clarke.
