Whenever I am told anything by the government, my local council, my employer, my kid's school, the owner of my golf club, my neighbours etc., I do the same thing: I think about what they've said, I think about what they have said in the past, I think about the independent information I have and I make my judgement as to exactly what's happening. Why should I do anything else when it comes to my football team?
And it seems to me that that's what Hammersfan does. He looks at what's going on and comes up with an article that provokes thought and debate. Some are amusing, some tongue in cheek, some are hard hitting and some are just crap! But he does provide a site which comments daily on the club, where anyone can voice their opinion and even contribute a lead article if they wish, so why does he get so much flack? When Newsnow is clogged up with the same information expressed in 24 slightly different ways I find it stimulating to read an article that takes an alternative view.
In my experience it is the things that we cherish most dearly, that we question and challenge the most. I support West Ham the team, not the corporate entity and as far as I am concerned, challenging the motives of whoever is temporarily in charge of our club is a demonstration of love for West Ham, not an indication that he's a spurs fan. I confess to being an old cyber mate of Hammersfan and am amazed at the amount of childish vitriol and even threats of violence that he attracts. Perhaps those who are not impressed should ignore it so that those who do enjoy the articles could comment without having to wade through so many immature offerings.

Because it is linked to News Now. Headlines about clubs come up and naturally attract interest from fans. Football is a polemic subject and supports are filled with passion about their clubs. To be pulled towards a blog that is constantly negative and critical of everything the club does is frankly tedious and at times embarrassing, especially when coupled with immature references to our own team and others.

I fully agree but claiming we're in for relegation on the 17th July and turning the Brooking stand announcement into another dig just highlight why fans of the club get annoyed. No we shouldn't blindly follow but if steps are being taken to right the club internally given the fact we were candidate for administration a few months ago, I would at least give them the chance before condemning them, yes it's a lot of spin, but who is going to buy us off a bank if we said 'Yeah we're incompetant, financially shambolic and a bit shit'?

I can see why you would leap to his defense and that is just a sad fact of the internet and society though don't you think?

In fairness you open the floor to comments, you have to take the rough with the smooth, disable the comments and job done. On the flip side some people might be offended having to wade through what they might see as constant unsupporting, immature articles from said author - can't have it both ways, the man wants to put his view across, some want to refute it.
Again, football is a polemic, passionate subject for many and HF has been brave enough to open his opinion up to comment.
I often read the articles posted by the HammersFan and I understand his frustration at some of the things that are posted on the net relating to our team etc etc. He is only expressing personal opinion and views and don't really deserve to be slagged off. I agree with others that sometimes the way some articles read they do come across as a dis to the club but I don't believe it is the intentions of HammersFan to deliberately upset every reader that reads his articles. Let us all try and participate with constructive comments going forward...
P.S - this is the 1st time I've ever posted on this site however, I do often read articles on this site purely due to being a fellow Hammers supporter!

I think some are unnecessarily offensive and the "You can't be a hammer" stuff is frankly pathetic - I would have to be some boffin to know all I know about West Ham without being a fan. Look at the comment from 1321, how sad and pathetic is that? It will buy a cheap reply from me but, honestly, what does the guy think he is doing writing stuff like that? It is no skin off my nose but it does reflect the cancer in our society where abuse takes the place of debate and argument.

Your response is valid, it's a constructive argument and by no means do I want to strangle debate and opinion. But there are far too many inane comments that are frankly pathetic. Nothing wrong with disagreeing with Hammersfan, I often do myself; the more interesting comments are usually from people who construct a cogent argument and make their point without being abusive.
I started reading this blog before relegation to the 'all sources' league and even though i've given it a few digs (no swearing mind) it'd be a shame if you didn't continue. You have an uncanny ability to give people the needle which can only be applauded. Having a pop at Big John while he's under the knife was beautiful and the way you pissed on the Brooking Stand chips, mesmeric. Hurrying Zola out the door back west was a nice touch, while the defence of John Terry over the mum-cussing fans was surely the cherry. I salute your hammer-baiting skills. Top man. COYS
If you care to look at WestHamFans.org and a thread entitled Irons Germany you may well discover some of the reasons he is so disliked by so many proper West Ham fans.
What Irons Germany, that guy who spouted support for the Final Solution on the Mordant Org despite working as a professional golfer in Germany? Yes, I can understand why decent people would dislike him and why thuggish and racist elements amongst the West Ham fan base would prefer his approach over mine. Friend Tony has gone a little quiet recently, since the implications became clear of spouting public support for Hitler and Nazis. Employers in Germany do not take kindly to that sort of thing. In fact, you can be arrested for it. Best not open that one up again eh? I'm not sure Tony would want you to given the vulnerable position he has put himself in! A poster by the name of Tom Hanks knows quite a bit about Irons and seems to have an axe to grind. I'd rather not be involved myself - I made clear my feelings about celebrating the murder of 6 million Jews at the time Tony posted his obscene comments.

Have you ever considered the fact that your articles are so boringly negative that people actually hate you. It was Neville who said he could track ISPs addresses, not me. And he put a block on mine for a while proving he does check. He knows El Martillo is not me and all El Martillo did was write a tongue in cheek send up of key members of the Klan, and myself. Check the history!

Markle, I have contributed under this name for two years now and argued extensively with Fanno over his treatment of Curbishley whilst arguing with the establishment over their treatment of Fanno.
I am in regular contact with one Orgster, however I will not name him out of respect. I would not wish him to be tagged with consorting with the anti-christ as he enjoys the site though I must say I don't know why now that all the free thinkers such as Saltbush Bill, Dutch, Denbigh, Winchester, Basildon etc. have chosen to stop posting. He is well aware that I am not Fanno.

Well I've just read through the infamous "my mate Adolf" post again and as I remember not too many "good men" did anything when that piece of filth was posted. I appreciate that in the heat of the moment we may all say things that we later regret, but no decent human being could come out with that vile diatribe. The fact that so few criticised the post speaks volumes for the attitudes and opinions of so many of the "good men" on that site.

Dutch so far up his own arse and only turned up when West Ham had a poor result and most of what he said was pure rubbish. Denbigh and Winchester average posters at best. Basildon was always good to get everyone going but sadly never posted much and indeed questions have been raised to his true identity.The site has maybe lost some but these type of sites always do but while the likes of Del, Aycliffe, Pete, Ashes and many more carry on posting then it will carry on well even without the mighty one of many faces.
The point is, there was variety when all those named contributed. They did not all sing from the same hymn sheet and so sparks flew. Now the debate rarely stimulates and if anybody risks disagreeing with the Klan, they couch their comments in extreme sycophancy. It is stomach turning to read sometimes. And to participate...dear God Fanno has had to reach for the sick bucket a few times whilst "playing the game".
What you don't seem to get and never did you sad excuse for a human being is that it is quite obvious that on a West Ham site with West Ham posters people will generally get on. If it was a general forum then obviously more sparks would fly. The only time sparks fly on here is from opposing fans you wind up or some of your old friends. The org continues without you but you can't continue without it and it shows how sad you are with your numerous attempts to return. I pity you and I pity those close to you though I can't believe for one minute that would include many.
