Zola Waiting For Godot In Watford

So, Gino Pozzo has told Watford fans to relax and enjoy the ride. The Pozzos have a vision, a project, and soon Watford will only sell their young players to the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid - just like Udinese.

As Pozzo talks about developing new talent and aiming for the top half of the Prem - comparing Watford to Udinese - everything sounds wonderful. Watford fans desperate for good news will be lapping this up. Just like we lapped up the "project" when it was explained to us so enthusiastically at Upton Park.

The trouble is, Pozzo has downgraded the Watford Academy - hardly a commitment to developing local young talent - and will not put a time frame on the project. Watford fans must stop worrying and trust to the fact that Godot will arrive some day. But when, when, when?

Well as Pozzo says in Beckett's play, "Have you not done tormenting me with your accursed time! It's abominable! When! When! One day, is that not enough for you, one day he went dumb, one day I went blind, one day we'll go deaf, one day we were born, one day we shall die, the same day, the same second, is that not enough for you? (Calmer.) They give birth astride of a grave, the light gleams an instant, then it's night once more. (He jerks the rope.) On!"

You seem very bitter. Concentrate on your great team and lets us Horns concentrate on ours.

One very very guy, just don't understand why fame and fortune hasn't come knocking yet.

It cost 2.5 million to run the youth set as a CAT A one.

We're all that anyway apart from the games played.

As a Watford fan I can only agree with all of your blogs.

As for Nani and Duxbury, the less said the better. When at the Middlesborough home game the other week I bumped into Duxbury after the game and upon asking him about long-term sustainability and the problems he had at West Ham I was addressed with a look of real contempt and promptly told to 'F**k off and mind your own'.

"OH BUT UR ACADEMY AS BIN DANGRADID IT AS" So bored of hearing this garbage. RESEARCH, and you'll realise WHY, and why it was for the good of the club, and i suppose handing out 3 5 year deals to 18 year olds, and one CB (in the Champ a very brave move) starting every game is irrelevant. So much generalisation and assumption about our club and they've all got it SO wrong. Hilarious.

You assume that our business model is the same as WHUs was. It is not. You weren't owned by successful football people. Watford are. Do some research and find out why we've downgraded our academy. What is your obsession with Watford ? Concentrate on WHU.

Why would a championship side want to spend £5m+ to meet the requirements just to have their lads tonked and demoralised every week?
The Pozzo's have got it spot on, it's much better to carry on loaning them out for first team experience and to put then in the spotlight (e.g. Britt Assombalonga at Southend)than have them disappear into obscurity as happens to a high proportion of PL youngsters.
Nothing's changed at WFC, they have not downgraded anything but changed their attitude because the FA continuously shifting the goalposts now makes it nonsensical for a club our size to join a scheme that all but the biggest PL clubs will struggle with. Mark my words, the whole thing is set to unravel.

I guess half term is near and Godot is clearly on as coursework......

You again try to imply the Pozzo's were something to do with the fiasco at the Spammers........they weren't and have nothing in common with your bankrupt Icelanders.

See you within a two years.....mark my words. Big Sam is 'all played out' and soon you will have more than your unhealthy fascination with Watford to worry about.

Difference between Duxberry and co at West Ham is their employers were dodgy bankers who lost all their money and porn barons whose biggest acheivement was making Birmingham mediocre.

Watford have the Pozzo's overseeing them, and it seems like they have a track record of success.
