Brucie and Macca Make Case For Beckham

Would have been nice to see him, to see him nice. Bruce Forsyth has criticised the exclusion of Beckham from the GB Olympics team, supporting Sir Paul McCartney, who termed Pearce an "idiot" for leaving out the former England captain.

The performance against Brazil showed that we stand no chance of winning the tournament, just as I said when the squad was picked, meaning that the exclusion of Beckham is simply a PR cock up of the highest order. Coe must have been seething when he heard the news and Pearce has effectively signed his UB40 by making such a crass decision.

Who will employ him now exactly?

No one! Pearce I believe, done it because Beckham would have taken away the limelight from him. Pathetic,nasty little man, probably the most disliked person outside the Government!

@20:06

I think he could only qualify as second most hated man outside of the ConDem government. Hammersfan surely takes the gold medal for that.

BTW. I still have fond memories of the '98 burning Beckham effigy. What a lovely lot of fans West Ham are.

Good decision to leave Beckham out. The bloke only has the England record number of caps thanks to his bit part cameo role. He is a media whore and I for one will be very happy when he finally falls off the celebrity radar.

And we wonder why our sport is so crap when people want a media whore to perform because he's better at selling underpants to actually playing football but at least will bring in some extra fans while they show his miserable talentless wife on the big screen for the kids to coo over. Yep and we whinge on about others being hypocrites. Pierce was an honet player who gave his all for this country on and off the pitch rather than for his wallet. Sadly that means nothing these days when we can have a hyped celeb to worship.

@spyinthesky

Couldn't agree more.

That story was only splashed all over the sun to distract idiots from the large no of criminal charges being laid on the ex staff.
Still, at least Vaz Bagged a brace tonight

You might as well say, 'no ones going to beat bolt so let's make him race with John bishop and Eddie Izard cause they've worn their trainers in anger,' the idea of the Olympics is that the best available compete. Pearce was working with limited resources and still becks wasn't deemed good enough. Pearce will always get work in football as Coe does not make the appointments.

spyinthesky said it all! Well done Pearce for standing up to the idiots and doing the right thing. Media whore, such an appropriate term for the Beckham couple. What does that make his worshipers then?

So what do you think of Pearce's failure to call for Bale's suspension then Sav? Doing the right thing? Best not upset a powerful club like Spurs!

I think Pearce has done a very sensible thing and not got involved in a (tabloid)media spat. He's getting on with his job and working with the players he's got. He's clearly not as chippy about Tottingham as some.

Watched the game today and it was crying out for Beckham. Big blunder from Pearce

Yes, Beckham thinks so much of 'Great Britain' that he lives in LA, and closed his training school for young footballers here. He was a decent dead ball kicker, but not much else, be honest. Sometimes agood attitude, sometimes petulant. As for his post European football 'career', his tabloid image et al, I'm totally sick of him, his wife and kids. Compared to Muhammed Ali, he's really a'nowhere'man.

Well said spy.

As for Pearce's 'blunder', I think you'll find that is ultimately the GB defence's blunder there, Stani.

As for a the opinions of a clapped out ex-'Beatle' and a fifth-rate 'cheeky chappie' and failed SAammy Davis imitator, who cares ?
Since when did McCartney and Forsyth's opinions mean anything to anyone, beyond their circle of sycophants ?

'Sir' Paul and 'Sir' Bruce - har har har !
