Butterfingers Green at fault again as QPR lose to Stoke

How amusing. As Jussi pulls off a breathtaking save to keep us ahead against Wigan and on course for a victory that guarantees our Premiership survival, England's 666, Butterfingers Green, gets a weak hand to Crouch's low velocity shot, and fails to prevent it going over the line.

I'm not sure what Jussi is earning at Upton Park, but you can bet your life it is nowhere near the 50k per week that Green is being paid by Foolish Fernandes and, kicking apart, there's no disputing who is the better keeper.

Rob Green is now on the point of completing a hat trick of relegations as somehow, glory keeps slipping through his fingers. Relegated with Norwich. Relegated with West Ham. Now relegated with QPR. A pattern seems to be emerging.

But he still has his fans at West Ham. Some would still welcome him back with open arms. Mind you, some would welcome Fernandes to the Boleyn!

Green has got what he deserves in my book. He was once a great shot stopper but an average all round keeper. Now his great shot stopping days may be beyond him. He is nearly back where he belongs, in the Championship, and let's hope his contract allows for a massive reduction of his salary in consequence. Defoe, Parker, Green - they are cut from the same money grabbing Judas cloth!

Dont put Parker in the same category as Defoe and even Green, Parker couldve left much earlier for much more money but he loved the club, yes l know he eventually left for those spurs but as l said l stayed , also like Lucas Niel he was a judas as was Defoe , thats it Parker is an angel compared to others

Parker is a Judas. No doubt about it. Look at previous post comments on the subject. He's in EXACTLY the same Category. Be clear it wasn't that he left, it was the way he did it even more than the fact we went to Spuds. It was his behaviour towards playing a few games in the Championship. He DID NOT love the club, he loved the top flight. He also tried to leave before. End of. Rant over. Good riddens never welcome back. COYI

Parker could have been a legend at west ham remembered up there with the likes of dicanio as a player who came to us late but embraced, understood and loved our club, what did he acheive by moving to tottscum? Now no set of fans will remenber him and sing his name long after he's gone because he wasn't loyal to any team. The day we have a player come up through the ranks and reject the likes or chelski tottscum and manure and see hi career out with us again i'll be a happy man.

Jussi has done a good job for us this season, and he has improved as the year's gone on.

I still think Green is a better all round keeper though. Jussi will not come off his line, either for crosses or to close down a striker, Green is one of the best around at the latter (although crosses are a weakness for him as well). There's not much to choose between them on shot stopping, but I would still put Green ahead by a whisker.

You don't judge keepers on one or two games

I think you will find that Green stuck around longer than Parker. Parker signed a new contract but still engineered a move to Spurs. The only reason he didn't leave 12 months earlier is that Levy fancied Van der Vaart more.

To throw the word around like legend none of the above apart from PDC can come into that category not when we have had the likes of Bobby Moore Geoff Hurst Trevor Brooking Alvin Martin Billy Bonds as for Defoe & Parker I'll not lose sleep as these as beens will never be in the legend bracket & defo will never have a stand or lounge at OS named after them last thing well done West Ham for securing prem league status a happy hammer

I really feel for Robert Green, who was a great servant of West Ham. We cannot forget, and should stay grateful for the service of our former players. I do however agree that Jussi is technically far more superior technically...his height, reach, and quick reactions being the benefits. Let's therefore be grateful for what we have been blessed with now...but don't celebrate someone else's low time. Life teaches us that the same can happen to us. God bless.

Hi HF- safe already- who'd have thunk it? :)

Just had to comment on this legend thing. I liked Parker, but agree that he was no legend. But on the same basis that people are rightly discounting him as one they also need to discount PDC.

When the team was doing well he wanted to play, and very exciting it was too. However, the one time we truly needed him was in 2003 and he went awol actually refusing to play. I'll write that again- he refused to play!?!? And yes, Roeder was an utter c*ck but what PDC did was still shamful and spoke volumes about the man.

People can call him gifted, mecurial, passionate, etc but calling him a legend demeans the ones who truly and unarguably were.

All the names mentioned are bigger men than you'll ever be.... even Defoe - you're not fit to lace their boots!

He didn't refuse to play because he'd have a move away from the club scuppered through injury though did he! He had a man-strop at Roeder because they fell out. One's devious, other's frustration.

Not good behaviour granted but I'm not letting that comment about discounting him as legend go because of it. His greatest strength is also his greatest weakness and that's his fire & passion.Roeder obviously upset the applecart with the dressing room because with that particular squad, we should've been in the top 8.

He's a legend matey and the reason why is because when he had that passion, he played like a world-beater for West Ham. He went and got the ink on his arm. He has a season ticket box at the club and goes all the time.

The club named the lounge after him because of his contribution and love for the club. Ask any real Iron that actually goes to games and you'll get the same response. That's the best gauge in the world and we all love him down at Upton Park.

Exactly right. Wheat from chaff.

Can you please change that picture at the top of your page? It is so putting us off from visiting the website frequently. It is no joke, really!

Sav is right HF. How about one of O'Brien, Diame or Reid?

Hammersfan said...

Of course you don't like the pic guys, Noble is sticking his finger up to you!

Stani said...

No he's not HF, Noble's telling us how many successful crosses he got in...

Sav said...

Typical! He can't even get that right! Wrong finger!

Anony-mouse says,

11.48-

We've obviously got different definitions of what constitutes a legend. The fact that part of your evidence involves him having a f***ing lounge named after him tells suggests that your standards may be low in these matters.

And I go to games- so don't play a card you don't have. I saw Di Canio's first game for us and I was at his last when we went down at St Andrews- he couldn't play the whole game for Trev cos he wasn't fit enough. He wasn't fit enough because he'd stropped off like a petulant little kid when we needed his undoubted talent.

Make up as many excuses as you want for him regarding Roeder. Some will have a point to them, but no one else refused to play that season. No one apart from PDC. Disgraceful and not the behaviour of a legend- not even if they name another 100 lounges after the talented, petulant fly-by-night one.

ps- was that you at 11.49 backing up your comment of a whole minute earlier? If it wasn't then you'd have needed to post, HF put it up, then someone else reply all in a minute. Didn't happen that way did it?

You jumped up little runt. I don't have to explain any of my posts to you. I suspect you to be a complete twat armed with not much else but a nasty streak and a sharp tongue.

I'll stand and tell you to your face anytime you like. Tell you what. As you go to games we'll both stand in the street and have this row. See how many fans agree with me and how many agree with you. Legend because they named a fucking lounge after him?! So you're actually thick too.... Connect the point you div. You're not showing me up, you're showing yourself up. Anyone with a brain cell can see the point that was being made. You're just pedantic. Bobby Moore Stand, Sir Trevor Brooking Stand, Paulo Di Canio lounge.

I'll start leaving a handle so you can see exactly what I think when I write it. Yes I did leave 11:49 to whoever 15:52 is. What your half-baked point was about that was, I might never know. Needed to post doesn't come into it. I agreed with the other comment. I disagreed with yours. I showed that to both of you by commenting. Sorry because HF respects you, you suddenly think you have any say on what I post. Well you don't. If you can't handle somebody criticising your comment, don't leave it. Have it in the privacy of your own living room instead where we can't read it!

Roeder was the disgrace. To upset the team enough to take us down with that squad. Sure, PDC is petulant. So what? So are you. Were you in the dressing room at St. Andrews then? What about at Upton Park? What was it like to be at the club then? Was it turbulent? See what you actually KNOW about that situation couldn't fill a postage stamp.

He was LOYAL and in my book that's more important than temperament where being one of the best forwards we've EVER had is concerned. All time 11, he's there next to Hurst.

Fine hate Di Canio. Well done, you're the first I've met, most likely the last. Go in The Queens or The Boleyn and slag him off. You'll last 5 minutes. Talented fly-by-night? Do you even know half of the charity work he's done for the club? The tattoo on his arm? The fact he's rarely missed a game since he retired? My standards are low are they? I'm 31. I have three legends of my era. Bonds and Dicks when I was a child and Di Canio later. How many 30 something year olds do you knock about with shithead. I know hundreds. I SPEAK for my age bracket. You are clearly much older. So before you get personal about my standards again consider that because you're out of order. To even place Parker in the same debate shows what an idiot you must be. Or just a liar. Go to many games do you? Did you go to many at the front end of last season? Many away games? Did you see Scott Parker much then? Did you bollocks. Only premiership fan boys still like Parker, the rest of us attendees saw him for what he really was.

The club shop sell shirts with his name on it in children's sizes so that we teach our kids about him when they ask who it is. We don't say, oh some stroppy Italian bastard. We say, one of the best footballers our club has had in the last 30 years. You tell me what makes a legend status since the golden era if that's not it? I know men in their 50s and 60s that have autographed photos in frames on their walls.

You talk to me again mouse it best be without your fingers in your ears. Failing that, get out from behind your keyboard and talk like that to my face.

Listen, I'm all up for debates and I respect differing opinions. It be horrible if we all agreed on everything. But don't get personal.

St. Clair Iron said...

Fancy having a crack at Debs or 15:52 as well whilst we're on the subject, or you just want it with me? Oh don't tell me, my comment was worse because I invaded your personal space by clicking reply instead of making a new comment.

I bet you pop kids balls when they land in your garden as well don't you, you scoundrel.

St. Clair Iron said...

And what's all this about "part of your evidence." I didn't realise we were in court. I don't need "evidence" I noticed he was considered a legend by THE FANS...as the club obviously did. I didn't coin that title on my own. Haha! Proper strange one you are. There I was getting all offended by you. All you really need is a helper.
