Zola To Be Drug Tested

Now we know why Zola is smiling all the time, he's been puffing the wacky backy. I don't hold with those who maintain that Parker is a liability because he dwells on the ball too long and pirouettes more than a ballet dancer on a gyroscope, but I do not understand how anybody can seriously suggest that he is currently the best midfield player in the Premiership.

How many goals has Parker scored this season exactly? How many assists? Yes he does his defensive duties well and yes he is all energy, but what does he offer going forward? The opposition penalty area seems like a total exclusion zone for Parker and I could count on one hand the number of passes he has completed over 20 yards so far this season. Do the pulses start to race when Parker picks up the ball? Do you find yourself thinking, "Something special is going to happen here"? I'm sorry, but I don't.

I am not knocking the guy, I think he has been one of our best players this season, but to mention him in the same breath as match winners like Lampard and Gerrard seems absurd to me. Parker does not punch in the same division as these two heavyweights. He can't skin defenders like Walcott and Young, he doesn't have the passing range of Carrick and he isn't as good a tackler or crosser as Barry. The fact is, Parker was pressed out of the game by West Brom and Villa. Each time he collected the ball, somebody was biting at his ankles and Parker looked flustered and hurried. And we all know that the mark of a very good player is that he always appears to have more time than mere mortals.

Capello was at the Villa game and witnessed Parker's discomfort, and Parker has not figured in an England squad subsequently. Capello looked less than impressed at Upton Park on Monday too so I would be very surprised to see Parker adding to his meagre number of England caps any time soon. Zola, of course, is probably just trying to boost morale after that abject performance against the Baggies but Parker is a big boy now and should not be in need of such crude kiddology. Save it for the little uns boss, Freddie Sears might be boosted if you told him he was still worth a place in his school team!

yoldou obviously did not listen to the comment from Zola he said holding midfielder, and what is the matter with you, your mum tell you off for dribbling at the table

Pardon? I will limit my 'better options' to Barry and Carrick if you prefer.

Having a pop at the players again for no reason.

You should read Zola's comments again

You are a mug, parker is defo the best holding midfielder i have seen all year. Do you actually go to games, he has single handedly kept us in games, got points for us with a couple of goals helped create quite a few but more importantly matched and outplayed attacking central midfielders from Chelski, Man Scum and the scousers in his holding role. Try opening your eyes and supporting our players.

Try the mordant org if you're not from there already. Read the post again. I am not knocking Parker, just saying he is not as good as "the best" in the Prem.

Fanno, you are nothing but a complete tosser!

You strike me as being someone who led quite a sheltered upbringing or were abused as a child. There is help for you out there.

You wont be and are not welcomed on many sites/forums with your childish immature rants and at times really quite nasty remarks. It's actually really quite sad that you've had to go to the extent of creating your own in order to satisfy your needs!

Fanno.....more like fanny, complete and utter Fanny!

And I wonder who Anonymous is? Clearly a mordant orger by use of the Fanno and Fanny names. Wrighty perhaps? Please identify yourself. The blog dates back over 2 years if you care to check and is getting quite a few hits since being accepted onto News Now. Your vitriol is most unfortunate. To suggest that I had an abused childhood is deeply insulting to two loving parents, one of whom died at home from cancer some 20 years ago. I do not understand why you feel you have the right to speak so insultingly of people you do not know, neither of whom have done anything to hurt you, and one of whom is dead. You should feel deeply ashamed. I will leave your comments for all to read so they can see how distasteful you are as an individual. Quite what your rant has to do with Zola praising Parker excessively is beyond me. But that is the mordant org approach summed up perfectly. That is why the site is dying. Drunk perhaps?

Hammers fan

I'll give you a sensible answer to your comments.

I don't think you quite get the gist of what Zola is saying by your remarks that he doesn't score goals, get in the boxor set up many goals but then, that isn't his job. His job is as a holding midfielder and over the season he has become better and better at it and you only need to take a look at the games against the big boys in which he has kept the big time/name midfielders at bay and not allowing them to play out of midfield which is their usual strength.

i think this has been proved by the MOM's that Parker has had this season and I certainly believe that as a HOLDING MIDFIELDER (not an attacking one) he is one of the best England have at the moment.

Col I understand that but a holding midfielder can do more than just hold. If that is Parker's role, why is Zola pairing him with Kovac, an out and out holding midfielder / centre back? Kovac isn't going to offer a goal threat is he? As the senior midfielder, the onus was on Parker to adapt his game against West Brom, to turn to Kovac and say, "OK, you hold, I'm going to push forward and try to get us into their box." He didn't, he dropped deeper and deeper and deeper, at one point actually taking the ball off Kovac about 15 yards INSIDE our half. Why did he do that? That's why Carrick, Barry and Hargreaves (when fit) are three better options. They do take up offensive positions, they do get into the box, they do play killer balls and they do score. And they "hold" the midfield. To be an England player, Parker has to do more than hold!

I'm glad to see you left the abusive post, above, I'm not a fan of censorship and your polite and well expressed response makes the brave man who posts as Anon look exactly what he is; an ill mannered fool. Witch Finder General Wrighty should be a bit busy to make posts at the moment. In a parallel universe he is acting as guard to the condemned cells containing Fanno and Marty at the Org. prison.
Did I call him Witch Finder General Wrighty? More like Captain Mainwaring I think. Since the train carrying Fanno and all things unclean left Org. central and headed east, he's been marching around playing with his swizzle stick and puffing out his little pigeon chest, outing fifth columnists from their hiding places under the HTML tags and generally telling anyone who'll listen; just how clever he is.

He's definitely making a play for a seat at the top table, the trouble is, he's going to turn around soon and discover there's no-one left to impress. All the disciples have supped their last and left him to eat his packed lunch with Barabus.

LOL Brilliant Marty! The mordant org as Dad's Army! How long before Nev adopts Fraser's catchphrase, "We're doomed. Doomed!"
