No Class In Sunderland.

How badly was the sacking of Ricky Sbragia handled by Blunderland? I know they are claiming he resigned but Quinn couldn't stop himself from saying it was by "mutual agreement"; in other words, he was given the loaded gun and told to pull the trigger.

Poor Sbragia was stripped of all dignity as Quinn towered above him and damned him with faint praise in the post match interview. Basically the "job for life" amounts to a glorified scouting role as Quinn seeks a "bigger" man for the manager's job. Sbragia was fighting back the tears as Quinn spouted off and I am not surprised. He had just "saved" the Black Cats from the drop and here was his boss, utterly humiliating him on national TV.

Now I'm not saying Sbragia was the right man for the job but I am saying he deserved a little more respect than he was afforded. Why the rush? Why couldn't the announcement have been made today or tomorrow rather than in the immediate aftermath of the match? That was cruel and heartless and downright shoddy. He didn't create the mess at Sunderland, that was down to Keane, yet Keane was allowed to walk when he wanted and was not humiliated on national TV by Quinn. But then Keane and Quinn were mates weren't they?

Quinn is just an idiot that can't keep his big ill-informed gob shut, He always spouts off to grab the limelight he thinks he's a superstar when all he is is a front for someone else's cash, a puppet that acts more like a muppet , but I feel the headline is a bit misleading the Sunderland fans are a class act but the man in charge has no class that's for sure.

Sunderland didn't sack ricky they agreed by mutual consent to get a bigger manager in. Also considering Ricky didn't want to be a manager you cant blame Quinn. you know nothing about Sunderland so dont bother trying to publish such stupid comments

Did you not feel for the guy as Quinn spouted off and Sbragia fought back the tears? I might not know much about Blunderland but I do know something about dignity and respect. Quinn afforded Sbragia neither from where I was standing, which was the other side of a TV set! By the way, I know that McCartney wasn't worth £6m!

Bollocks.

Sbragia had to go: he was given a sole remit to keep Sunderland in the Premier League and he did it. Full stop.

He's not cut out to be a full time manager, so he's been thanked for4 keeping us up, and given his old coaching role which is all he really wanted in the first place.

A wise move by Quinn, imo - and Ricky gets what he always really wanted. Win-win.

Rubbish. Quinn and Sbragia grasped the nettle and allowed a fan such as myself to 100%enjoy yesterday and I was then convinced we as a club knew what to address and how to move the club forward. I thought yesterday was as dignified as you get. Quinn answered all the questions, praised Sbragia and unequivocably allowed him to stay at the club.

disagree completely. Sbragia has obviously been hating every minute of it and Quinn took a big swipe at Keane when thanking Sbragia " he was a man when other people walked away "

So Spencer is the font of all knowledge - eh? Could there possibly be a tinge of jealousy there? Niall Quinn is the best Chairman in the Prem - bar none. He has foresight, integrity, ambition, determination, and more to the point he's one heck of a nice guy. He "spouts off to grab the limelight" - I've never heard such a load of donkey poo in my life. What do you expect him to do? Cower in a corner waving a white flag, sucking a jelly cube? The truth is me old mucka - Niall Quinn has more class in his bum hair than you will ever possess.

Don't disagree with your overall point but Quinn = no class?

Give your head a shake

You know naff all about me laddy, and as for the best chairman give me a break, so why at the start of the season was he slagging off west ham, pompey and spurs over transfer fees that had nothing to do with him, I'll tell you why boy, he was trying to grab the limelight, and was rightly told to mind his own and he promptly forced to say sorry like a naughty little boy,

Congrats on your complete and utter ignorance of the situation. I'd call the above a sh!te article, but that'd be a slur on sh!te articles.

Totally agree quinn=plank

How on earth you can accuse Quinn of lacking class is beyond me. He has more class than almost every other chairman put together.

Sbragia looked like a rabbit in car headlights during the final 6 games or so. The man realised he wasnt cut out for it and I commend him for stepping down.

Please refrain from posting ill informed garbage about our chairman.

Well well Niall Quinn, a complete waste of space much like the squad he assembled for an absolute fortune and to the anon that said Quinn is the best chairman in the prem bar none, bollox is all I can say to that, maybe 2nd in the north east behind Gibson at boro and just ahead of idiot in charge of Newcastle

Anonymous said...

Makes you laugh someone who supports a team that cheated to stay in the Premier League making grunting noises about the lack of class at another football club...UNBELIEVABLE

Quinn is gentleman and a ledgend

If Sbragia was a rabbit in the headlights why did you perfect chairman put him in charge in the first place, coz he's an idiot self indulgent know nothing, you lot just see this through rose tinted glass's, and that's what makes it so funny, you won't go anywhere while he's at the helm £30m on crap and your all happy with that? oh dear I wish we had a man in charge like that, spend our entire budget on a relegation battle and i use the word battle loosely, you survived because NUFC could not get a draw in the last 2 games

"I might not know much about Blunderland but I do know something about dignity and respect". --- ha ha ha ha ha ha ha as deluded as ever, you know sweet f8ck all about f8ck all. You owe Neville Nixon an unequivocal apology, so to to many a poster on the .org site. You talk of not wanting racism or bad language on this bog when you were the worst offender for both bad practices yourself on that particular place for West ham fans. Respect? How you bleat, why don’t you stand up and be a man, let go your bleating obsession with all things org go and apologise that way you might learn and earn something of dignity & respect. I bet you delete this post like you have all my others on this shame of a bog shite

Ah yes,as we finished in the position above the relegation zone. I forgot that Hull do not exist. Quinn is a great man before he rescued the club from going into administration. Sbragia announced his resignation on sky hours before the bbc interview and agreed to go weeks ago

I think that's a bit harsh on WHU fans, as this article is the view of 1 WHU fan or are you that stupid not to see that?

Anonymous said...

WHU are the club who are in a shit load of debt, been disgraced by the Tevez affair, and got lucky this season! so how you can grief the running of another football club is beyond me, get your own club in order b4 you spout shite about another club!

Anonymous said...

Yeah West Ham are really well run arent they?? Before you slag off our glorious chairman, have a look at your own first eh?

Anonymous said...

Im a hammer and even i cant defend this. Awful, and to think you actually spent time writing it.
Stick to whatever else it is you do.

This is the worst article I have EVER read!

I've always thought West Ham fans are the biggest idiots about.

Congratulations Hammers fans, you have just confirmed yourselves as the stupidest fans in Britain, AHEAD OF NEWCASTLE!!

Stupid swines.

(Edited to remove the c word.)

LOL Orgsters still looking in! Apology to Neville Nixon? For what exactly? Please explain!

Listen up. As a Sunderland fan of many years (season ticket holder etc.) You must realise Niall Quinn is untouchable. He is above mere mortals and never makes a mistake. Fellow Sunderland fans are brain-washed. It is nice to know outsiders can see Quinn is part of the problem and not the solution. "A front for someone elses cash" - Well said. The whole Sbragia affair smacked of amateurism. Still, Newcastle were relegated so all is well on planet Sunderland.

Hammersfan said...

Well said 1902!

Well at least I can see you are a total plank after this cheap comment:

"By the way, I know that McCartney wasn't worth £6m!"

How is that superstar Kieron Dyer getting on for you? ooooo and that legend don hutchinson? ;-)

Hammersfan said...

I'll see your Dyer and raise you Anton Ferdinand! Did you pocket anything from the Dyer deal? Oops no, that money went to Newcastle.

This is jsut utter turd writen by someone who obviously doesnt have a clue.

sbragia wasnt sacked.
sbragia never wanted the job in the first place.
he will have a job for life, the coaching role he was in and didnt want to leave in the first place, he agreed to take over as a fvour to quinny, as theyre mates.
quinny wasa hero for our club, and i think most if not all sundeland fans are fucknig exstatic to have him still involved.

Hammersfan said...

I'll ask you too, didn't you feel for Ricky? He was humiliated by Quinn and fighting back tears live on camera. Shameful.

Kevin said...

Complete stupid article yes, WHU are no better than Sunderland and no worse, the club took a bold move for the future of the club sure WHU would do the same if they needed to.

Hammersfan said...

Kevin, you miss the point completely (like Cisse!). It is noy what was done but how it was done. 24 hour delay, let Ricky make the statement without Quinn contradicting him and talking "mutual agreement". That would have shown some respect and afforded Sbragia some dignity.

As for West Ham, we allowed both Roeder and Curbishley to start the next season! That is going too far the other way!
