A creditable draw it is true, but 3 points from the last 12 is not the platform for a promotion push, and even the most diehard Leeds fan would have to admit that Warnock's charges were lucky to come away from this one with a draw. Brighton were the better team, missed a penalty and Kenny pulled off a superb save deep into injury time to rescue the paltry point. It seems the Capital One Fan Cup exploits are taking their toll.
Sixteen Brighton shots to six and ten on target to four tell the story. Brighton outpassed Leeds throughout and looked much the classier side. The decision to allow Mucky-Smith to take the second penalty was crass: the guy is mediocre at best and Kenny was always the favourite for me as soon as Brighton green lighted his personal quest for a hattrick.
Warnock will no doubt express pleasure at the point but come the end of the weekend, Leeds are likely to have fallen still further behind in the promotion race. That cup run is proving costly!
