Benni Attacks Grant

Pausing his eating to speak to journalists, The Benni Mass Index has fired off a parting volley at Avram, accusing the Israeli of not talking to his players enough. In a dig that has echoes of Ashton's claim that Zola didn't make contact with him through the long months of his injury and Neill's claim that the Italian ignored him whilst he was out of contract, McBenni has moaned that he cannot remember the last time Grant spoke to him and opined that Grant could "help his position if he'd maybe take a little bit more time to speak to players more".

Before stuffing another burger into his mouth, McGut however accepted some blame himself, admitting, "I let myself down. I just went hiding under a rock because I couldn't deal with the fact I was injured. I never trained how I could train because obviously I was out for two months (with a calf injury) so I wasn't allowed to train or anything - it was just treatment, treatment, treatment."

Well, treatment, treatment, treatment and eating, eating, eating eh Benni?

Did Ashton say that HF? And of course Zola spoke with Neill. It's well documented they sat down. He simply demanded too much money, money Zola was told we did not have. What was there more to discuss?

I just saw the McCarthy interview HF. I know it can be construed as bitterness, but how damning hey? Poor man management on Grant's part. To only speak to the playing squad is crazy...and you were critcising Zola for apparently not speaking with Ashton and Neil.

Who knows if Grant had bothered with McCarthy, he may have sorted himself out knowing he has a manager that believes in him. Grant not bothering can't have helped McCarthy.

Poor.

Just sour grapes perhaps. Who knows? Would you talk to somebody who is taking £40k a week and not even controlling what he eats? Remember the weay Zola refused to allow Quashie to train for the first team, making him train with the kids? How about applying the same rules to your pet Italian? And Quashie was coming back from a genuine injury and was desperate to play!

I reckon it was more a case of Grant not bothering HF. He did a similar thing with Cole when he brought in Piquionne, sticking to what he knows.

I think the Quashie situation was completely different. Quashie and Zola did talk. It was agreed that he would not be part of the squad and he himself said he was happy to do what he could for the youngsters in the reserves. He was also out on loan. And he did get some game time for us at least. Zola dealt with the issue, he did not avoid it like Grant has doen with McCarthy. Maybe all McCarthy needed was his manager to beieve in him, and he may have made an effort to sort himself out.
