Groundhog Day at Upton Park!

Remember what happened last season? 5 defeats in a row seemed to have condemned us. Well you would have to be a supreme optimist or a bloody idiot to think we will take anything away from the game against Man City - and defeat there will be a carbon copy of last season's five losses on the trot.

To stay up last year we had to beat Sunderland and Wigan and, lo and behold, we play both in our final three games. We won both of course last year. We also drew at home to Blackburn, but without a forward worthy of the name until Zola sent Cole on as a 60th minute sub. True the Wigan game this year isn't at home but our away record against them is better than at Upton Park and we would have won the game on their dung heap last season had Cole's goal, netted one second after the ref blew for half time, counted.

We stayed up last year and we can do it again this year. Keep the faith guys!

I'm amazed at the pessimism on the org fanno. The way i see it, if we secure 6 points, we survive. And we will! I don't fancy getting the maps out for Doncaster and scunthorpe. Also don't fancy the trip across the thames, to our little brother on too much sugar: millwall!

I reckon we need 7. Big game tonight. I'm a Stoke fan all of a sudden!

Gabbidon calls out the forwards... Waiting for HFs piece on that. I hope 7 points is possible but in all sincere that defense is we put out is weak. Why has Tomkins been on the side line. I'm in the US, is he injured?

Nobody knows for sure mate.

Great result for us tonight... Stoke did us proud tonight, they don't really have much to play for and they've gone and put 3 past Wolves... Brilliant! :D

HF, Im starting to worry that you are bipolar. Hehehe.

Keep the faith? Im going to stay on the gloom and doom side here. We are shredded. Done and dusted.

I predict a measly 4 points over the last 4 games. We draw Blackburn, lose at Wigan, and beat Sunderlnad when it doesnt matter. Except that Avram will declare it a wonderful victoey and a great way to launch our campaign in the Championship.

God I hate him......

Oh, one more thing. Where are you, US HF? Im in New York.

That's right Hammered ...a real manager fired up his team.

Did anyone see the Man City game last night? Dire. If ever there is a chance to beat them, this is it. Tevez out too - but he would prob rule himself out anyway he loves us so much.

Still think we will prob make Man City look like Barca tho. Sigh.

Where in New York Dave? I was over two summers back. Stayed a few nights in Brooklyn.

LOL Kareem, when all hope is gone all you have left is faith. Ask Stani! Are you coming up to exams at the moment?

Hammersfan said...

Oh and Kareem, yes that is me in the picture if that's what you meant!

Hammersfan said...

Why couldn't I have that day over and over and over?

Hope is the last to die! I want to keep the hope, but it is so difficult with Avram all ready and eager to mess up again!

...if that's you HF, who's the guy?

Eeeehahahaaaa

Haha, yeah, even a secular Atheist such as myself is living off of some dream of us surviving. Can't believe Gabbidon is saying our main problem is attack..I mean yeah, it is, but it's not like we're having 0-0 draws and losing 2 points a match!!!
Yeah, exams soon..2 weeks till exams..writing lots of research papers at the moment...sometimes i wish I didn't do well in high school hehe.

Oh really? You're alot younger than I thought you were (just kidding) -- we should catch up soon

I was born and raised in Manhattan, HF. My dad still lives in the apartment I was raised in. My wife and I moved upstate a few years ago and built a house in the middle of the woods after we had our first. All of my moms family lived in Brooklyn, though.

I called in to the radio show I mentioned a few weeks ago this morning, with Georgio Chinaglia. The other host, Charlie Stillitano, told me the story of the first time he met Avram Grant at Chelsea. He watched Grant and Mourinho meet and he could tell by Jose's face that it would not end well. But he read me the press release that was put out when Chelsea hired him.

It said that while Grant did NOT have a particularly good record in Israel, the team he assembled did well after he LEFT! Charlie said he was astounded, that he had NEVER heard of a coach being complimented for another coach doing better than he had.

We've all been had.

If that was me on top Stani, I'd spensd a lot of my life looking in the mirror!

Kareem, a secular atheist? I thought you were Druze.

Dave, we might have driven close to yours. Drove from New York to Toronto via the Falls, up to Quebec, then down to Plymoth, down the cost to Boston, out to where the Kennedy's holidayed, on to Salem then down to New York.

Kareem said...

I'm Druze, yes, but I am only connected to it culturally -although my family and extended family are quite non-religious. I'm very secular. I guess I'm more agnostic though, come to think of it.

......regardless of whether I believe in a god or not..PLEASE GOD LET US STAY UP IN THIS DAMN LEAGUE.

Stoke beat Wolves..there's some hope.

Not me Dave! :)
