Leeds Fan Woody On Cawley and Hillsborough

With apologies for the delay in posting. This was emailed in response to my threads on the events at Hillsborough and went to SPAM. Happy to carry a first hand account which is not full of foul bile, and apologies Woody for the delay.

I'm very disappointed you published an article and then walked away from it within minutes so no one could discuss it on your blog leaving a one sided and factually inaccurate statement (in many parts) on the web for all to see. Such is the power of the web I guess but a very lopsided and biased action. You complain about the abuse you get from LUFC supporters but publish only comments from LUFC idiots that propogate your one sided deluded view on all our supporters. Every club has idiots (tell me West Ham don't and I'll chortle for the rest of the weekend because I know a few truly horrible hammers fans).

1) Leeds fans did sing Jimmy Saville chants - but actually a group of about 20 SWFC supporters started it to try and wind LUFC supporters up simple because Saville came from Leeds. Saville wasn't a LUFC supporter so we have no reason to feel ashamed simply because he was born in Leeds - I would feel no shame even if he did support LUFC as his actions and thoughts are his own and not mine and every LUFC fan feels as much disgust as any other fan over his action.

2) Bottles and cups were thrown by both sets of supporters not just LUFC (and for that I hope any identified will suffer bans). They surely will if they support LUFC as the club has zero tolerance for hooligans after our less than proud past where this is concerned.

3) Advertising hoardings and seats were damaged at Hillsborough by LUFC fans (yes I admit only LUFC fans) and again I hope any identified will suffer bans.

4) Dave Jones is less than intelligent for allowing his family to come to the game for a local derby in the week after Saville's paedophile past was reported - for the love of god any sane person could envisage the chants coming his way days before the game. I don't condone them and I didn't join them but you'd have to be a muppet not to expect them from a certain mindless minority of any club.

5) I think a grand total of 6 people stepped onto the pitch of which 3 congratulated Diouf and Tonge, 1 decided to mount the goal netting, 1 aimlesslessly ran up and down the goal line and one committed a cowardly attack on a professional football player. All should be banned and almost definately will be banned by LUFC (I feel sorry for the 3 who wanted to share in the players excitement on the pitch but rules are rules). Cawley carried out what I can best describe as a tango moment on Kirkland and YES I do think Kirkland went down easily and I personally think if it had happened to me I'd have dumped Cawley on his ass for doing it BUT it was probably more from the shock of it happening than the physicality of the attack. I hasten to add I don't think he 'dived' or made a meal of it or feigned injury but it was slap not a thump as has been reported by many newspapers and websites (I didn't see it from the stands but I've watched it many times since on the box).

No one is mentions why the stewards allowed the fans onto the pitch (they were lined up all along the goal line) or why they allowed Cawley back in the stands. From two people that I have spoken to who Cawley ran past into the rear of the stand they admit to being happy, jumping up and down and hugging everyone in site but didn't even realise Cawley had been on the pitch - one of those two people went to the front of the stand and pointed out Cawley to the stewards before the end of the match but the steward spoke to someone nearby and then refused to enter the stand. 100s of LUFC supported named Cawley to police at the match but I guess SYP decided it was less volatile to arrest him after the match than during it - SYP have already publicly thanked LUFC fans for identifying Cawley but of course you would not report that.

The vast majority of 5500 behaved extremely well on Friday night - grow a pair and just admit we have a fantastic, huge and vociferous away support that is being tarnished with memories from the past and actions by a handful of mindless idiots who will be punished by the club and hopefully by the courts. Cawley is too young to even remember let alone be part of the hateful days of the 80s when many clubs including your own had some truly vicious followers more interested in violence than football. Times have changed and nearly all LUFC supporters are grateful for that.

Judging by your lack of comments, I'm guessing Woody has made you feel a little foolish eh HF?

Also I hope you have permission to use that picture,Disney don't like people(especially trolls)using their images without their permission.

I would take issue Woody with your comment that Jones was stupid to let his family go to the game. This suggests that we should give in to thuggery and bullying. Why the hell should a grandfather feel the need to order his grandson to stay away from a game? How does he explain that to his grandson exactly? Society is made up of individuals and every individual must make a stand against bullies and thugs, only then will the bullies and thugs be defeated. I say good on Jones and shame on the Leeds fans who abused him and shame too on those fans who chanted in support of Savile. Your excuse is a bit pathetic for that one, I'm afraid. Did your Mum never use the term, "And if your friend put his head in an oven would you do the same?" The actions of others is not an excuse for the actions we CHOOSE to take.

LOL 1120, I had no need to carry the response. I believe in the right of reply.

An excellent article, Woody. The only bit I would add is how despicable and selfish Dave Jones comments were that all Leeds fans are 'animals' for the paedophile chants from a handful of fans whilst claiming not to hear the louder Istanbul chants from a greater number of SW supporters. This is absolutely pathetic and an exact repeat of events at Cardiff in 2007.

Fcuking retard .

He raises his best points in the opening paragraph.

This blog is a self-fulfilling circle of shite.

It goes something like this...

1. Author writes a load of inflammatory dross
2. Muppets with seemingly low IQ reply and bite
3. Author feels like he's on some kind of superior intellectual plane

If you scribe a load of mindless garbage, expect a load of mindless followers.

The irony is that these people you taunt so regularly are those on the same intellectual level as yourself.

Enjoy that thought!

You really are an annoying tw@t.......you say this is a west ham blog so stick to west ham.

It's getting very boring now.

How do you think the son of one of those who died in Turkey felt as he stood in the stand listening to the SWFC fans singing about his DEAD father as compared to Jones hearing chants about something that didn't involve a life of one of his family. Jones has a platform to make his feelings felt, I don't see one for the support of a young man who is subject to this on numerous occasions during a season.

Thank you for publishing this - it adds credence to your blog and totally denies all those retards calling you all manner of things. Yes you do print blog articles that have a tongue-in-cheek sarcasm about hem; anyone with correctly firing neurons can see this.

Anyway, good on you 'ammerfan for printing this.

from a True Leeds Fan

From hf himself more like .

1547, did Dave Jones chant about the guys who died in Turkey? No. So why is it used as a justification for foul chanting about him exactly? I'm not defending the Wednesday fans and never have. Ever heard the saying, two wrongs don't make a right? Your attempted justification is feeble!

And your rambling rants are pathetic to say the least fella . ypu want.to stick to posting about the.so called team you support., and leave LU alone....but you just can't let it lie can you ? You get off on getting abuse and winding people up .....one min you're praising leeds.then the next day you just talk shite again ....just piss off fella .

Just yet ANOTHER case of this wet spam supporter not getting his facts right and using a headline to draw attention to a totally irrelevant site.

The sooner this idiot realises that this is (supposedly) a wet spam site and not an excuse to try and grab any attention he can the better.

WE as Leeds supporters DO NOT and NEVER WILL (because we don't need to) ever use wet spam (or any other team) to draw attention to OUR sites?

It isn't 'big' to try and make things right after the event, if he had half a brain he wouldn't have even mentioned this on 'his' site?

But then if you support such a sh*te team with no news, no history, and no prospects, what do you expect?

"How do you think the son of one of those who died in Turkey felt as he stood in the stand listening to the SWFC fans singing about his DEAD father"

This idiot DOESN'T think, he just posts anything he can to get a reaction and then gets off on it.

No surprises that it was half term this week, he's obviously not had to go to school during the day....

"did Dave Jones chant about the guys who died in Turkey"

And did he actually have the guts to apolgise for those that did????

No...........

Enuff said, just another idiot wanting to make a headline on the back of Leeds, like you scum.

let it go woody.come let me give you a cuddle and a nice big kiss.
super leeds!

15.47 it isn't a feeble excuse in any way, if you read what I said it refers to the platform Jones had to condemn the chanting aimed at him yet turned a deaf hear to his own fans and that the son in question has no right to express his feelings unlike Jones. Surely you cant support only those who have access to the media should influence debate whilst the little person has to put up and shut up?

Anonymous said...

you bellends he says shit about leeds fans because theres so many of us and we hate people saying shit about leeds so we go on his website which gets him alot of hits quite smart actually

Anonymous said...

yes its a free country and Jones family were quite entitled to be there but think about it.

By Jones own admission he had been getting this abuse for years . Should he not have foreseen the abuse coming?

I believe he was stupid to not know that it would not have been all over him that night and its a fact of life that it will happen in these situations. Its not right but its unstoppable. His stupid decision to bring the family

Hammersfan said...

So give in to bullies then? Great. How about banning all those who indulge in foul chanting, then Jones and his family can attend football matches. It is ENTERTAINMENT, not a war, something you and others don't seem to understand 0647.

To say Jones is stupid to allow his grandson to watch a football match is crass.

What is it about people from York-Shire. They seem to have a big inferiority complex. Perhaps based on the fact that people like Savile, the racist Boycott, the chump Farginson and similar 'earthy' [thick] types come from the county.

Ho ho ho - what a bunch of losers.

Yeah, so shite that West Ham fans seem to want to talk about our great club... constantly.
