Ferdinand To Return From His Sunderland Hell?

Blunderland are after Dunne and Unreal City seem to have their sights set on Upson, so does anybody fancy closing the triangle and bringing Anton back into the fold? People forget that the Great Escape was based on the Ferdinand and Collins centre back pairing. In fact, had we maintained the same winning ratio with Ferdinand out of the team as we did with him in it, then we would have completed that nightmare season with 50 points, without drawing any games. Great Escape? We would have been pushing for Europe!

Now I know Anton suffers from ganga breaks in concentration, but so did his big brother until he mysteriously forgot to take that drugs test. Since then, Rio has emerged as the real deal, the best England centre back since...well probably Tony Adams. He never has quite made it as the new Bobby Moore. Anton has all the necessary requirements to be as good as Rio - tall, pacey, strong in the tackle and an excellent passer of the ball. He just needs his head sorting, and I think Clarke and Zola could play the bad cop / good cop routine to get him focused.

Anton must be regretting his move to Blunderland and he isn't Steve Bruce's cup of tea as a centre half. I reckon a bid of £4m plus Davenport would probably secure his return to the fold - and I am convinced that he will be in the England team in 3 to 4 years time once he has matured. The deal makes sense to me! Anybody agree?

Hmmmm, thats actually quite tricky. didn't he leave West Ham on a bit of a bad note?, after all he was best friends with reo Coker. I've seen a few blunders from him on Motd but if we did have funds from an Upson sell it may be worth a punt.

I think you must be off your conkers..!! do you really want that over hyped BABY bentley mug !
I suppose you have forgiven him for the Grandma event..!! Nope i would take Tomkins, Upson, Collins or Gabbidon over Ferdinand Jnr any day...!

Why go sideways when you need to go forward? If we sell Davenport and took that sale price and added it to the £4m you quoted, between Zola & Nani with thier contacts and influence they could pull in a defender who doesnt show concentration lapses and is equipped with all the attributes needed to be a top flight player, Say £6m? Thats not a bad figure when you consider the quality of Luis Jimenez at a reported £7m. I think we should have given Ferdinand more time to develop but to pay to bring him back would be madness! Less of the Daniel Levy I think!

IF we sell Davenport! That's a big IF!

I don't regard Anton as a backwards step - I was sorry to see him go. Let's say we get £10m for Upson - it could be even more with Unreal City bidding, investing £4m on Ferdinand (plus Downpipe) would leave £6m for somebody to play right back / centre back. I'm sure Nani could source somebody capable of doing that very nicely. Will we keep Gabbidon? That will be interesting to watch. I rated him but has he still got it after the injury?

In the mean time, good to see Sheffield united scrounging over our rejects (kyel Reid)

For once, a good article, but that doesn't change the fact that you're moron.

You're the Michael Owen of the blogging game

I don't think so lads!

Anton had a decent season all in all, I reckon Bruce may be able to get the best out of him as he matures.

Although he does have the odd brain fade every now and again, I remember him twice last season trying to clear the ball and producing an air shot instead, crucially against Pompey in the 2nd last game when we were at 1-1 leading to their goal. He also did it against youselves at the SoL but Behrami missed a sitter as a result of it!

ur dumb if u think anton should come back. hes absoulote shite. cant head the ball 4 shit and allways looses concentration so nnoo

He's not good enough

Is that right then James? So that makes me one of the best bloggers in the country then, when I haven't got a strained wrist!

I think Anton was a bit of a liability and was always trying to achieve what his big bro did - but like 'Tiger Tim Henman', trying to acheive his perceived ability, was always left jumping up and down banging his head on the reality of the ability ceiling....
There was one great thing about him - the ability to flatter to deceive, and we got an amazing price for an average player...

Hammersfan said...

Hi Hotshot mate! That doesn't explain why we conceded less goals when Anton was in the team compared to when he wasn't does it? 5% less goals conceded when he played and 5% more points gained.

I for one would be happy to see Anton return to Hammerland, but I will be sad to see Upson leave after saying just a couple of weeks ago that he was happy at West Ham!

Hammersfan said...

LOL, I know a Grumpy who would be very upset if FAT returned!

no fackin way.

LOL Don't believe what you read in the fackin papers. And what's this about WHTID's post on the org, "Little poll"; I want to know when he has been in the bogs with me!

I'm a bit ambivalent about Anton, he has all the physical attributes of a footballer in spades; it's the bit between his ears that is lightweight. I have it on what I consider to be good authority that the academy did not consider him to be good enough along with the rest of his year group which included Ward. The fact that we were in the championship and had the usual injury problems meant that he got a chance and you would have to say that he took it. But I think it is unlikely that he would be seen as an option. So for me it's No

the stats also state that we couldnt buy a clean sheet until collins stepped in. collins and tomks can do a job. plus take richards from citeh as a makeweight . and with jimenez taking the corners our aerial dominance would see us climb the table.

Hotshot C said...

Fanno, the reason the stats are better when he played can be easily explained - the reflected glare of the sun on his head distracted opponents....

Why would he go back to west ham. Small club small fans?

Edz said...

good reply 17:07, i also believe that as a champions league defender, world renouned stopper, reliable, dedicated, better than his brother, Anton Ferdinand is far too big for a small club such as West Ham. As for small fans, most of them weight over 20 stone by the looks of it, unless the mean the small fans which are amongst the most loyal and die-hard around the world?

bennywhu said...

yeah good one u mug. he is not a patch on upson or collins or even tomkins and sunderland are shit anyway thats why we picked up6 points of em nice one

...."His Sunderland hell?".
Would that be the hell of being captain of a team that plays in front of 40000+ fans every week, in one of the best stadiums in the land?
Or the hell of going to work every day at the best training facilities in the land?
Or maybe it's the hell of playing for an ambitious club, with a new billionaire owner, an ambitious new manager, and possibly the best chairman in the land?
West Ham....hahahaha!!!!!

17:07, you're a feckin' muppet mate. You haven't got a feckin' scooby. Small club, small fans, what feckin' planet do you live on? The 'Ammers have got a worldwide fanbase that any top Prem club would be proud of having. Pi** off back to your Tottscum blogs and let this man stir some interest with a decent blog. Hammersfan, keep up the good work. Classic blogs mate. I haven't laughed so much in ages with some of 'em. Just a shame you get a few arsewipes who slag you off. Nice one son.

You want to talk about stats? West Ham had a push for europe, Sunderland were hanging on to survival. Where was Ferdinand playing? Sunderland. Id like to see Sunderland's "great" new manager Steve Bruce attract the likes of Mancini and Luis Jimenez! Sunderland may have 40,000 seats but who needs them when at 70 minutes, half of them are empty!? A little geordie club that make up the numbers, In fact they serve one purpose, at around every 6 months they show the rest of us how bad some managers can be, making us remember just how lucky we are! So enjoy looking at your new prem fixture list because next year you'll be playing Newcastle again! Mike.

I see your point. I'm not a huge Anton fan myself but he is young, will mature and £4m plus Davenport could be a steal. Worth a punt.
