According to a couple of stories out there on the World Well Wide of the Mark Web, Sturridge is going to join little old bankrupt West Ham rather than bath in milk and honey at Unreal City or Chelski.
Really? It's a lovely idea that the City super sub might be keeping our bench warm for 70 minutes of every game through next season but I can't see it happening can you? Why would he opt for us over Chelski?
Well, I suppose there is the little matter of getting a game. Then there is the opportunity to learn from Zola. Then there is the way that West Ham bring young English talent through to the National team.
In fact, if the guy has any sense, he will be a Hammer very soon. But then again, there is the little matter of Chelski's suitcase of roubles. Take the money or get in the box? Quite a dilemma!

I'll be very surprised (if the stories are true) if he does come to West Ham. Removing all bias it'd be the better option for him but there aren't many who put football over money these days. No one even mention Lucas Neill. I suppose at the end of the day it's his career - would you turn down a pay rise at work for having to do less?
You know he turned his back on a 45K a week contract at city don't you? I can't see hammers paying him more as well as the reported 10 million compensation we're after from any club who signs him
West Ham is presently spiraling around the plug hole and will very likely disappear down the drainpipe soon. So instead of concerning us with comments about "Chelsea's roubles", maybe you should focus on collecting some pennies for near-bankrupt West Ham, to put towards Sturridge's wages.

Good move for him and for us I think, we need a striker like him.
Play champions league football, compete for the Premier league as well as both domestic cups. Play with Lampard, Ballack, Drogba, Cech, Essien, play in the fashionable part of London.
Or.......
Compete for midtable, play with Sears, Boa Morte, Parker, Dyer, play in the pikey end of London.
It's certainly a toughie!

The difference in academys really is starking. We played around 7 academy players last season, and Chelsea are contemplating wether to even place one on the bench (Mancienne. No wonder Lampard is urging Chelsea to bring through more youth. Why on earth would Sturridge want to go to Chelsea other then money, will he replace Drogba or Anelka, no and no, will he play on their left wing, probably not, do West Ham love the youngsters and have a team were the majority of players are domestic and speak English, yes.
09:44 I'll explain - because Sturridge is only 19 there is the little matter of compensation for an out of contract transfer on all young players. I can't remember the age limit where they move for nothing but I think it might be 24?
It is likely to be decided by a tribunal if the clubs don't agree a fee and Man City can ask for £10m but are likely to get no more than £2m if past experience is anything to go by.
The important thing here is that the lad won't sign a new contract at City because he knows he will sit on the bench after they've spent goodness only knows how many millions on big money signings. Losing a star of tomorrow is another price they will have to pay for their mega bucks spending spree.
As for the £45k per week 08:18 says City offered him, even the media say he is asking for £40k pw so I dare say it is actually closer to £30k pw basic but who really knows? For a £2m signing West Ham would happily pay £40k once he gets into the first team I suspect.
Sturridge knows he will get an opportunity to play at West Ham under GFZ and a deal could be financially structured to encourage the lad. I hear strong rumours that this deal is highly possible. Interesting though that City and other clubs' fans clearly think we are skint...
