Now I may wake up soon but I think I have just witnessed the USA knock Spain out of the Confederations Cup with a 23 year old West Ham player playing at the back for the Yanks. Yep Mr Spectator or The Wank, as he has been cruelly nicknamed, played his part in keeping the best team in the World at bay. He looked neat, he looked unfussy, he got in blocks, he got in the way, he helped organise at the back, he got in a good tackle in the box without conceding a penalty - he did his job.
Now Zola may have other ideas about who will play right back next season but Spector did himself and West Ham proud tonight!

one good performance does not make a player. If we go into the new season with Specky as a starter we will be looking at 10th at best.

I think he is good cover, has some versatility. I feel he is being a little hard done by us hammer fans.

He is useless!!! One good, LUCKY game does not make him a good right back! We need some one who will not lose his man every time! Every time he touches the ball i think 'GOD NO!' He is a liability! Hes at tops a Championship right back! We also need some one with speed! Some one who can attack, thats the one thing lucash missed, he didnt have the speed to beat his man so always turned back and put the cross in with his left, leading to a poor cross. We want some one with flair and who is calm on the ball. Id rather just sell him and bring in a proven right back, some one who fits the system we play because at times this season we were weak going forward because, only Ilunga was pushing forward from the back, we need a proper full back otherwise we will be struggling again to provide service for our strikers! Look at Chelsea! We tried to base our attack on their system and it failed because, our full backs would not push further enough forward. There for NO WANK! We need a REAL right back.
Yes he did play well for his country and proble was the reson why they kept a clean sheet but he hasnt got enough experience to be our first choice right back, but I would rather have Spector RB then Lucas Neil, because when ever I saw him play, players would run rings around him.

I'm so sick to death of hearing how bad Spector is. Honestly, I'm surprised at the West Ham faithful. Spector is an extremely solid player. Never really been given a chance especially under Z & C yet. He certainly has more pace than Neill who truly is shite! Anyone that has seen their share of US matches obviously needs thicker goggles! How many times have we seen Neill give away penalties in the area? I rest my case! And you say one good game from Specs?? That's the way he always plays!!! Wake up my West Ham brethren!
i watched the match and specs was ok, although riera got enough crosses in, and got past spector enough, that i dont think u can say that he did enough to say he will be fine for us at right back for a season. heard a rumour today that neil may come back after all which i will be ok with for next season, although i'd like a quick full back to match ilunga on the opposite flank. i wonder if we could get wes brown with rafael coming through...?!
