Who is picking the West Ham team exactly?

How inflated an ego has this guy Duxbury got? Now I know he has risen to heady heights despite ample displays of incompetence but I didn't know he was now responsible for team selection. Try putting these two quotations side by side! On the one hand, as I say in an earlier post, he implies that Zola does not rate Ashton by talking about Cole in the "English spine" of the team and not mentioning Beano. Yet, in an earlier breath he says, "I'm not selling him (Ashton) to Stoke and Dean Ashton is not £10million in any way. I want Dean Ashton here, I want him fit, I want him playing and it'll be nice to see him. So he is not being sold."

Now look how many times Mr Duxbury says "I" in that brief quotation. That's funny because I thought Zola was responsible for team affairs, I thought Zola decided who was bought and sold. So, either Duxbury is a complete megalomaniac (which I suspect is true) or he is engaged in double speak and is covering his own back ready for when Primadeano is sold. Wait for the justification when it happens that it was a "footballing decision" made by Zola and for Duxbury claiming that, in his interview, he said that he, personally, did not want to see Beano leave the club. This interview has "Don't blame me" written all over it!

Swallow it if you choose to do so but anybody with an ounce of intuition will understand what is going on here. If you trust this guy, more fool you!

Well, based on the last two peices you've written, it has to be said that I trust Duxbury more than you.

Why exactly John?

What is your problem? Duxberry has given two promising interviews about the future of the club and all you can do is try to twist his words by putting 2 lines that were said in 2 different parts of the interview together to make him look like the enemy. Duxberry has seen us through some tough times in the past year and he deserves credit not this attempt to turn people who support the club against him. If you want to create conspiracy theories about the people in charge go support some other team!!!

'Swallow it if you choose to do so but anybody with an ounce of intuition will understand what is going on here. If you trust this guy, more fool you!'

Now that is very subjective and opinionated! Let people make of the interview what they want for Christs sake.

2038 You are just desperate to see the good news and ignore what is actually happening. Why are you not questioning how the ground has shifted so dramatically in the space of 6 months. Why was Duxbury claiming everything in the garden was rosy in January even though he now admits the situation was, in truth" a disaster? Hasn't it struck you as odd that Stoke, Wolves and Hull are being linked with £5m plus signings whilst we are limited to loan deals? Don't you see that there is a real danger of us going backwards with a capital B if this continues. Duxbury is managing expectations superbly but strip away the gloss and the truth is, we are buggered, with no money for investment in the team for 12 months at least. Thus the emphasis on the English core, because we are depending on the kids to see us through this and cannot afford to recruit players that even Wolves can afford. I may be pessimistic but I think I have my eyes open and my ears unblocked. Lots of you guys seem happy to wear a blindfold and to put fingers in your ears whilst you sing La La La to block out the bad news. That doesn't make the bad news go away.

2111, of course it is subjective, it is an opinion. The article is a commentary on what was said. You want to take the interview at face value, feel free. But remember that Duxbury was at the heart of the Tevez fiasco and misled us last summer about transfer sales (thus Curbishley's resignation) and in January about the financial situation. Where is the evidence that he is trustworthy exactly?

I'm sure you can make Obama say 'America is fucked' if you read between the lines hard enough.

I think if you don't believe what Duxbury says YOUR a fool and obviously are obsessed with West Ham being doomed.

I think the author of this would criticise the teams dressing room if he could.

Hammersfan said...

2209 Explain why he should be trusted. Do you know his record? He plays mugs by making populist statements like "We wont sell to Tottenham" and suddenly he is a hero. He was at the heart of the Tevez debacle, remember that? He misled Curbishley, thus the constructive dismissal claim. Why do you trust him? Because he is telling you what you want to hear? Dear God, do you still believe in Father Christmas and the Tooth Fairy?

After reading this article and a few others of yours, i have to say you are a joke of a supporter, all you ever seem to do is doubt the clubs credibility and are not worthy of being a true fan! Stop hiding behind that claret and blue scarf and reveal your true self - A spurs fan would not suprise me!

Two great interviews that has everyone excited and all you do is doubt them, what has he said that is unrealistic:

- Luis Jimenez - Signed
- Amantino Mancini - In Talks
- New Training ground - Processing
- New stadium or revamp - after 2012

Christmas we looked doomed financially and 80% of clubs would have collapsed and sold off their star assests, we however did not through Duxbury fighting our corner and winning.

Give the guy a break and start backing the club! He is what West Ham have needed for the past 10years and all fans are optimistic he will deliver great success.

Hammersfan, it's "You're" not "You are". Get your grmamer right and then I might just start listening to how you.

he's only echoing what west ham fans want - to see deano fit and playing. he's not saying HE is in charge of selecting the team that goes out on the pitch, he's saying he doesnt want to see the bloke on crutches and out of the squad all together.

Duxbury is showing himself to be a very competent chap, Im pleased we have him.

Smacks of jealousy to me - KUMB (now that's a proper WHU website) and West Ham Til I Die get the interview; you're left to dissect the crumbs. Get a life shipmate.

I for one would much rather be told that there's not any money to invest in the the team. At least that way we know where we stand as fans. Yes, of course, he is managing our expectations but why should he? He's in charge so in essence is setting the targets.

We have no access to any external/owner based funding so any player acquisitions have to be self funded. It's common sense and happens in the vast majority of companies. I'd much rather us operate on this basis until a new owner comes along than see the club ramped up in debt a la Leeds etc.

It's amazing that most WH fans feel differently to the author of this blog. I support the club because I believe in it and enjoy the hope and aspirations that go with that support. It's unconditional, so if I'm a mug for wanting to believe the positives about the future of the club then so be it but without that what's the point? I don't support WH to spend my time on conspiracy theories that can never be proven. Why waste the energy?

All I know is that we have a great management team in GZ and SC, the spine of a decent PL squad and some great young prospects coming through from the academy. Add to that owners that are willing to let the club run organically for the mid term then I think we can make some solid progress both as a club and a team.

If we can do that, we'll be a very attractive propostion for acquisition within 2-4 years.

0106, You're is a contraction of "you are", thus the apostrophe. What are you talking about? You can't even spell grammar and your last "sentence" makes no sense at all! Go back to school!

0922, Jealousy? No. Full marks to whoever arranged the interview but was it on the basis that the sites could not then comment negatively on what was said? I don't know. I'm giving my take on things. I may be right, I may be wrong, time will tell. I think the discussion is healthy personally. Others only want to see the "good" because that's what they see as supporting. The same people probably defended Curbishley whilst I was calling him a disaster. Would anybody now want Curbishley back?

It's not about only seeing the good it's about giving credit where credits due.

The club has been through a very tough period over the past few years but we seem to be over the worst and things appear to be progressing again.

SD has had to deal with many things being thrown at him and dealt with them as best he could given the circumstances. He was quite clearly being controlled in terms of who stays and who goes until January but no seems to have taken control of that in conjunction with GN, GZ and SC.

Why shouldn't we be positive? There's been enough people out there willing to slag us off recently so the last thing we need is our own fans turning on the club as well.

It's not healthy debate HF, what you're doing has the potential to encourage further negative media coverage that can unsettle individuals at the club and undermine what appears to be a solid management team with a solid plan.

Get on board for once and have a little faith.

You don't trust him because you don't WANT to trust him and you fail to recognise that everything he has said he will do since becoming CEO, he has done and has helped successively steer the good ship West Ham United through some very troubled waters. In other articles you talk about him lying to us all about the state of the club's finances back in January, well what did you expect him to say? That financially West Ham was in the doo doo and that he was under pressure from BG's creditors to sell our best players? If he had, then all the vultures would've been circling big time and we would've lost more than Bellend as people like Arry would've been having a field day, so I can see the necessity to tell one or two porkies in order to keep a lid on things and therefore we successfully managed to keep onto Parker, Green and Uspon with a lot of help from him by keeping the proverbial wolves from the door. He also speaks of his ambition which is the same as Nanni's and Zola's, but he speaks because he is the figure head of the club, that's all and I ask you one question, who would you rather as our CEO? Scott Duxberry or Paul Aldridge? I know who I would trust more, your problem is that whatever happens at West Ham, you will never be happy because you see conspiracies and skullduggary everywhere.

Hammersfan said...

D's Eyebrows, no I didn't expect him to tell the truth in January. What I don't understand, however, is why you are so sure he is telling the truth now. The situation has worsened if anything. We are now owned by a holding company who are owned by a bankrupt bank. If he had a reason to spin in January, he has just as good a reason to spin now. I am amazed that people have learnt nothing from Blair. Once they start spinning, they can't stop. All I am saying is that you trust what this guy says at your peril. He MAY be telling the truth this time but he MAY not. Blair MAY have believed that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction but he almost certainly didn't. I remember Duxbury telling us Sheffield United didn't have a case over Tevez. Why did we settle out of court for £25m then? I just don't get why anybody would trust the guy given his record. But yes, he MAY be telling the truth this time. And my Aunt may have balls and may be my Uncle!

"He plays mugs by making populist statements like "We wont sell to Tottenham" and suddenly he is a hero"

For F's sake Hammersfan - most of your blogs are about making wild, unfounded and populist statements many relating to Tottenham.

Hammersfan said...

Perhaps it takes one to know one!

We handed out £25 mil out of court to Shitfield Unentitled because our auditors would not release the company accounts and therefore BG wouldn't be able to offload the club and we might be looking at administration now and I think that if we hadn't released those figures, we may have copped further punishment from the F.A or something like that, you see, we were held over a barrel on that one and they probably didn't have a case against us, only that senile old tosser Griffiths took the word of Graham Sheer and drew his conclusions on hear say evidence and we maybe now owned by a holding company who are owned by a bankrupt bank, but that's hardly his doing. I'm not saying that I trust him implicitly, but he hasn't done us any harm so far and yes he may be a bit shifty, but aren't all CEOs? It's a personality trait that is needed to carry out such a role in the same way that you would have to be a heartless hard nosed bastard to be a bailiff.

Hammersfan said...

So don't trust what he says! That's all I'm saying!

"Full marks to whoever arranged the interview but was it on the basis that the sites could not then comment negatively on what was said? I don't know. I'm giving my take on things."

KUMB is a form mate.
They reported the article and then it's open for debate on the General Discussion page with all kinds of negatives and positives rather than just the paranoid ramblings of a Spurs obsessed Hammers fan.

No one is saying Duxburry should be trusted and he has probably played a complicit part in some of the errors made by previous administrations but ultimately he wasn't the owner, he is still here and he is trying to sort things out, whether for the good of the club or the good of his CV either net the same result.
So for fuck's sake knock off this crap all the time and stop embarrassing yourself and fellow West Ham fans with your constant and pathetic references to Spurs.
