Actually Stani I lay all the responsibilty with the player. If he genuinely wants to stay then he will do.
His silence on the whole thing is hardly encouraging from a WH point of view. All it will take to end this protracted saga is for him to come out and say 'I'm staying' but that seems a bit beyond him at the moment.
I think Sullivan probably meant what he said but ultimately it won't be his decision if Parker says he wants to go. Unless he'd rather keep a reluctant Parker at the club that is.

I think some responsibility should lay with the club also. I firmly believe that if you gave all our players an option to go to a bigger club, then most, if not all, would. So what keeps them here? There has to be something in place from the clubs side to stop them i.e. the reluctance of the club to sell. What G&S have come out and said does seem as this very thing, but I do not trust them.
I think the chairmen are engineering this move.I certainly will not be upset with Parker if he goes. It will happen now or in Jan.
1420, just as I predicted, the fans are beginning to blame Parker. He's not fool this Sullivan! "I wanted to keep him but if a player has his heart on leaving...blah, blah, blah". I said he would go as soon as Sullivan ORCHESTRATED the Tottenham offer going public. Why did he do that? Nobody has explained yet!
Fair enough Stani but what more can the club (the Davids) do other than make statements of intent?
I would definitely be upset with Parker if he were to go. His career was on a downward curve before he came to us and we've given him the opportunity to rebuild his profile. The WH fans have treated him like a god.
I can understand him leaving for a much bigger club like Liverpool but to join Spurs (granted a slightly bigger club temporarily in the CL) would be plain wrong. He knows that a lot of WH fans feel Spurs are our closest regional rivals in the PL so it would be a slap in the face to the very people that have idolised him over the past few years.
Maybe he'll prove to be one of the few PL players with some sense of loyalty. I hope so as I certainly wouldn't welcome him back to UP in a Spurs shirt.
HF - I know this will be hard for you to consider but maybe, just maybe, Sullivan was being genuine and really wants to keep Parker.
He hasn't said it about any other players because he has already stated that he'd listen to offers for anyone other than Parker.
I'm sure Sullivan spins the PR machine all the time but perhaps there's also sometimes just a nugget of truth to what he's saying. Perhaps not everything has to be a conspiracy theory.
Perhaps. Perhaps he genuinely spun the story of the new contract the day before the offer too! Perhaps. We will see. If Parker goes, we will know what Sullivan was up to. If Parker stays, I will put my hands up and say I was wrong. Let's face it, Parker is under contarct so can only go if Sullivan and Gold permit him to!
Don't get me wrong, I don't particularly trust Sullivan and I think he comes across as a bit of a clown but I don't really care about that as long as the best interests of WH are looked after.
If Parker does go to Spurs, Sullivan will look a fool and Parker would have exposed himself as just another selfish plastic PL player with no sense of loyalty.
I would have thought exactly that whether Sullivan had issued his statement or not.

Yes, I think they could have kept quiet though. In a sense, do more by doing less. I mean, we didn't have to divulge the fact that Spurs made a bid for Parker. It serves no purpose except a deceptive one. Sulli is playing games. He's said nothing in regards to the Cole rumours but he felt the need to come out with his over-exaggerated statement on Parker. Of course, this doesn't mean someone will buy Parker, but this shouldn't hide the fact that Sulli tried to flog him.
As for Parker himself. I think we have to also consider his age and be a bit more understanding if he goes...even to Spurs. I don't like it, but this is how modern football is and certainly there have been players much worse than Parker who I think has demonstrated his respect for us by staying quiet. Look at what Fabregas is doing for example. Now that guy owes Arsenal!
Stani - I thnk we'll have to agree to disagree on this one mate.
DS hasn't said anything about other bids for other players because he made it publicly clear that he'd be willing to consider offers for ANY player other than Parker. So I can see the logic in taking a firm public stance against the Parker bid from Spurs.
Even if you're right and DS is playing games then what's the harm in it? Either way the worst case scenario is that we'll end up with is either:
a) Parker staying (which I think most WH fans want)
b) DS starts a bidding war, Parker leaves and WH get the best possible price.
As for Parker, again I see the opposite side of the coin to you. I translate his silence as disrespect. He should have come out by now and made his intentions clear so that we can plan for next season, with or without him.

No probs mate. But I just think he didn't have to make it a public stance unless he wanted something out of it.
I think the harm in Sulli playing games is that he absolutely doesn't need to. Not to mention the fact that he would also be taking our own fans for a ride.
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind at all if Parker stayed, I think he's awesome. We could have done with him in S.A, some of that passion. Instead we had the likes of Ashley Cole and Ledley King who after coming off the plane in Rustenberg after being knocked out, were laughing and joking. In complete contrast to Rooney, who was head down and solemn in the background.
He may stay, but I very much doubt it will be because of Sulli's doing.
